When Zhong De suddenly commanded his Pokémon to surround her, Chen Xiaoxiao only smiled coldly.
"Metagross is right here. If you want to steal it, show me your strength."
She spoke with a mockery that sent chills down the spine.
"Scizor, Magnezone, Forretress, Mawile ATTACK!"
Zhong De had lost all rationality, and with alcohol burning through his veins, he gave the order without hesitation.
"He's done for…"
He You, who was still immobilized by Gardevoir's psychic grip, sighed in his heart. It was no longer a matter of morality it was now a matter of law.
Without waiting for a word from Chen Xiaoxiao, Gardevoir instantly teleported both her and Metagross out of the encirclement with Teleport.
Zhong De's Pokémon hesitated for a moment, confused by the sudden disappearance of their targets, but soon picked up on Metagross's energy signature and redirected their attacks.
"Metagross, Earthquake!"
Chen Xiaoxiao's voice was crisp, resolute.
Metagross, long simmering with silent fury, slammed its massive limbs into the ground.
BOOOOM!!
The ground cracked and rippled like waves under Metagross's full-powered Earthquake, magnified by its exceptional stats and natural steel-heavy weight.
Magnezone, Forretress, and Mawile all collapsed in one blow, knocked out instantly.
Only Scizor, the lone Elite-tier among them, managed to hold on with barely half its HP—its sturdy exoskeleton and resistance helping it endure.
Zhong De's eyes widened in horror. "What?! That's impossible!!"
"Trying to play the villain without the power to back it up?" Chen Xiaoxiao sneered. "Metagross, finish that Scizor Hammer Arm!"
Metagross, its mechanical limbs glowing with energy, swung down with all its steel-type might.
WHAM!!
Scizor was sent flying hundreds of meters, crashing through trees even after fainting, suffering serious recoil damage while already unconscious.
A tragic secondary injury.
"Any more tricks up your sleeve?" Chen Xiaoxiao's tone remained cool. "My Metagross was just warming up."
"No… no… This can't be happening!" Zhong De screamed, his ego completely shattered.
Chen Xiaoxiao's eyes gleamed. "Since you're done, it's my turn now."
Realizing the danger, Zhong De fumbled with Poké Balls to recall his fallen Pokémon and quickly leapt onto Skarmory's back.
"Go! Fly—Skarmory!!"
He panicked, issuing a desperate command to escape.
Chen Xiaoxiao, still calm, gave her next order. "Gardevoir, telepathically notify Togekiss to intercept him. Also, have the Sun Pokémon, Espeon, and Meowstic return."
Gardevoir's eyes pulsed with a blue light as she relayed Chen Xiaoxiao's command using Telepathy, then used Confusion to retrieve the Pokédex hidden in the shadows.
"Shanai."
("Orders delivered.")
She handed the device back to Chen Xiaoxiao, who opened the video recording.
"Pfft…"
She couldn't help but laugh watching the playback. Zhong De's distorted, drunken expression combined with his high-and-mighty voice made for truly pathetic footage.
"Chen Xiaoxiao, Zhong De's just drunk! Let it go! He'll wake up and apologize tomorrow!" He You, finally released from the psychic hold, tried to plead.
Chen Xiaoxiao's sharp eyes flicked toward him.
"He You, what if I hadn't been strong enough tonight? Would I have gotten Metagross back after he sobered up tomorrow?"
He You opened his mouth, then closed it. He had no answer.
Because she was right.
If Chen Xiaoxiao didn't have the power to fight back tonight, then Zhong De would have succeeded in stealing Metagross—and likely would've pretended nothing happened come morning.
People are greedy. Once they taste something they want, it's rare they give it up voluntarily.
On the other side
Zhong De, fleeing through the night sky, suddenly saw a white silhouette approaching rapidly.
It was Togekiss.
Under normal circumstances, Zhong De would be ecstatic to encounter such a rare and elegant Pokémon.
But now?
"Skarmory, avoid that Togekiss!"
He barked, panicking like a cornered Rattata.
Avoid?
Not a chance.
A glowing Air Slash formed in front of Togekiss, its aerodynamic wings slicing through the air as it launched the projectile.
"SKARMORY, DODGE!"
Zhong De screamed.
But this was an Elite-tier Togekiss trained under Chen Xiaoxiao's direct command.
Dodging that attack wasn't an option.
BOOM!
The explosion from the Air Slash struck Skarmory directly, blowing Zhong De off its back mid-flight!
While Skarmory resisted Flying-type damage, the flinch effect was triggered causing it to freeze up, unable to respond.
Togekiss swiftly flew to Zhong De, caught him mid-air with incredible grace, and then unleashed a Flamethrower at Skarmory!
Unlike Air Slash, Flamethrower dealt super-effective double damage to the steel/flying-type Skarmory.
The weakened bird fainted on the spot, crashing in flames.
Skarmory: KO.
Zhong De: panicking beyond words.
"W-why is this Togekiss so powerful?! And why is it coming for me?!"
His hands trembled as he recalled the scorched Skarmory into its Poké Ball.
Togekiss flew back toward Chen Xiaoxiao, dragging the stunned and frightened Zhong De like a defeated thief.
With bright eyes, Togekiss chirped for praise.
"Great work, Togekiss! You're the best."
Chen Xiaoxiao smiled and patted Togekiss gently.
Zhong De, now face-to-face with Chen Xiaoxiao again, went pale.
He spotted He You nearby and like a drowning man spotting a lifebuoy, he clung to a desperate hope.
"He You!! Help me!!"
He You hesitated, struggling internally. He took a step forward
But before he could say a word, Chen Xiaoxiao's eyes shimmered blue again.
BOOM!
A blast of Psychic energy erupted at his feet, leaving another crater where he stood just like last night!
"He You, don't overestimate your value."
Chen Xiaoxiao's voice turned frosty.
The crater at his feet and the coldness in her tone made He You break out in cold sweat.
It felt as if death itself had passed him by.
"…Superpowers…" Zhong De mumbled.
"She… she used Psychic like a Pokémon… She's not just any trainer!"
Still defiant, he shouted, "Y-you used your Pokémon to attack me! Then used Psychic on He You! You'll regret this !"
"Heh…"
Chen Xiaoxiao raised the Pokédex in her hand and opened a new tab.
"Let me formally introduce myself."
She turned the screen toward Zhong De.
"My name is Chen Xiaoxiao, Prosecutor of the Huaxia League. I operate directly under Champion Leng Xin's office."
Her voice was calm. Absolute.
"Zhong De, you are charged with attempting to seize a registered Pokémon from a League-sanctioned trainer, assaulting a League Prosecutor with Pokémon, and resisting arrest."
She lowered the Pokédex.
"You are now under arrest."
Zhong De's face collapsed.
"!!!!!!!"
