Because of the pain I felt in my lips, I pushed him away, but he didn't budge. I could hardly breathe anymore.
He was about to deepen the kiss when someone knocked on the door outside our room. Or rather, our room.
Whoever knocked on the bedroom door—thank you very much!
"Old Madam wants to eat breakfast with both of you, Sir and Madam."
Zion pulled away from me and stared deeply into my eyes, making me look away.
"Your face is easy to read, Ally," he said, and I could feel my cheeks flushing.
"You're disappointed we didn't continue making my little Zion," he added.
I wanted to slap him, but I held myself back—he has fair skin, and it would just leave a red mark. What a waste of good looks. Psh.
I turned my head and stared straight at him without saying a word.
This guy is so full of himself! Maybe he's just… thirsty? And his thoughts are all over the place!
Maybe he read my mind because he just laughed and stood up properly, shaking his head.
"Get up now. We'll have breakfast with Mom," he said before heading to the bathroom first.
I exhaled deeply, got up, grabbed some house clothes, and decided to shower in the guest room instead.
As soon as I went down the stairs, I saw Zion's mother talking softly to Butler Enrod, who either answered or nodded in response.
Butler Enrod looked up and smiled at me, causing Zion's mother to turn and examine me once again.
"Good morning, Madam. Sire is already in the dining area, Madam."
I nodded at Butler Enrod, but I hesitated to greet Zion's mother directly since she was right in front of me.
Ugh, what now? I'm nervous again.
"...Good morning, ma'am," I greeted Zion's mother anyway.
I still have to respect elders. That's what my mom and dad always taught me—back when they were still alive in my world… or was that really my world? Or is this my world now? Who knows. I'll get the answers to my questions soon… hopefully.
"Madam, did you and Sir do 'it'?" Butler Enrod suddenly asked as we approached the dining hall.
My eyes widened at his question, and I glanced at Zion's mother, who was also looking at me with one eyebrow raised.
"Err… well—" I couldn't finish what I was about to say because someone suddenly spoke.
"Sweetheart!" Zion's mother greeted a newly arrived man warmly.
I looked at him, and he really looked like Zion—just an older version. No doubt, this must be Zion's father.
"Why are you only arriving now?" Zion's mother said coldly, which made me even more nervous.
Oh no. Are they going to argue in front of me?
I looked at Butler Enrod, but he only smiled at me, so I returned my gaze to Zion's parents.
"I'm sorry, sweetheart. Gelo's child wouldn't let go of me and even started crying," Zion's father explained to his wife.
"That little kid wants to steal you from me!" Zion's mother insisted.
Zion's father laughed.
"Sweetheart, don't be jealous of our granddaughter."
My brows furrowed. There was nothing in the story that said Zion's parents had a grandchild! Zion's supposed to be an only child! So… how come?
Now I'm confused. Could it be Zion's child from another woman—? Impossible! Stop overthinking, Ally!
I snapped back to reality when Zion's mother spoke.
"Psh. Coax me!" My eyes widened at her tone.
She's acting like a child, for goodness' sake! Is this really Zion's mom, according to the online story? She was a retired general and cold-hearted in the story, but now—?
Now I'm starting to doubt whether the online story My Lily was even reliable.
"I'm here now, my love," Zion's dad cooed to his wife.
"Honey! I'm so glad you're here," she replied affectionately, then walked to him and they kissed—right in front of me.
My eyes widened again, and I could feel my cheeks burn as I looked away… only to find Zion standing by the door and staring straight at me. His parents were still being lovey-dovey, so I had no choice but to leave them and enter the dining area.
"Where should I sit?" I shyly asked Zion.
He looked at me as if saying, Obviously, beside me. He was seated at the head of the long table, so I decided to sit at his right. I forgot that he's the head of the Cartridge Clan.
He chuckled. "Don't mind my parents. They just love each other very much."
I nodded at what he said. I didn't realize how in love his parents were because there were no details about that in the online story. But if his dad is totally whipped by his mom, then maybe their romance is real.
I glanced at Zion, who was already looking at me. His parents are so sweet, so why is he so cold and ruthless?
"You look nothing like your parents," I suddenly blurted out.
I immediately shut my mouth and looked down in embarrassment.
"...Seriously." I raised my head and found him still staring at me. I started to wonder if there was something on my face.
"Are you full now from just staring at my face?" I teased.
Zion just shot me a sharp look.
"Eat," he said before starting to eat himself.
I followed his lead and began eating slowly. After a few bites, Zion's parents entered the dining area, so I raised my head and looked at them—only to see they were now looking at me too.
They sat across from me, to Zion's left, and began eating. Only the sound of cutlery clinking filled the air. Even though I felt awkward, I kept eating. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, after all.
"Zion, tell your wife that we will be shopping at the mall you recently bought," Zion's mother suddenly said.
I coughed a little and quickly drank some water.
"Mom, my wife is right in front of you. You should tell her that yourself."
I slowly raised my head to look at Zion, and when he smiled, I turned to his parents—who were now glancing back and forth between Zion and me in surprise.
"I finally saw my son smile for the first time!" Zion's mom whispered.
"Not bad," Zion's dad added.
I frowned at them and started thinking. This is so weird. But I'm more nervous now about what Zion's mom said earlier… that we'll be going shopping.
I want to cry, but there are no tears.
