...

He woke late in the morning, covered in cold sweat, yet feeling oddly well rested.

Rubbing his eyes, he sat up and picked up his communicator from beside the bed. Clicking on the power on button, he checked the time.

12:04

"Ah shit."

He had overslept.

Turning the communitor off, he went of to do his morning routine without a hurry.

Even if he was late, he didn't particularly care much, the cafeteria was open all day no matter the time.

It was difficult for an Awakened to get fat afterall.

After he was done, he walked out the door and locked it, even though he didn't have anything valuable inside.

Shoving the key inside his left pocket, he started striding towards the stairs.

On the way towards the cafeteria, he kept getting weird looks, mostly filled with awe and admiration some with suspicion, though no one had the courage to approach him.

Gilgamesh finally entered the cafeteria, looking at the commotion still happening inside.

Most of the people were staring at Nephis who was seated at the corner with Caster standing beside her, saying something to her.

Ignoring them he went to get his food.

While he was filling up the tray he was approached by the girl who Gilgamesh had met yesterday.

"Gilgamesh!"

She waved at him excitedly and ran towards him.

'What was her name,' He furrowed his eyebrows, 'Was it Elsa?'

Before Gilgamesh could remember her name, she had already reached him and had started speaking with enthusiasm.

"You didn't tell me yesterday that you received your True Name in your First Nightmare." The girl, who's name he still couldn't remember—he was pretty sure it was Elesia or something—said to him with stars in her eyes.

"You never asked. Plus I didn't feel the need to mention it."

People were starting to notice that he had arrived and were beginning to surround him.

"Hey, are you still planning on creating that Clan? Can please join?"

"Did you lie to the administrator?"

"Gilgamesh I swear my fealty to you, I'll serve you for the rest of my life! Make me your right hand man."

"Can you please marry me, pretty please?"

Calmly answering their questions and picking the food he wanted, he slipped out without anyone noticing.

Once Gilgamesh was far away, he looked around to see if Sunny was still here.

He found her sitting at the corner of the table.

Seeing that Cassie was also there, he immediately went there.

Gilgamesh had wanted to talk to Cassie and make her his pet instead of Nephis'.

Cassie was altogether way too dangerous but also an invaluable asset for securing his future if he managed to gain her trust completely.

Hehad wanted to kill her initially, before she became too powerful but he decided against it, not wanting to harm a blind, weak girl.

Gilgamesh sat down on the chair between Cassia and Sunny, who was staring at him with suspicion.

"You are ranked number 1 in the rankings."

He stabbed his food with the fork and chewed on it.

"I know."

Cassie looked—heh—at his general direction, startled.

(Image)

"You didn't even look at it."

"I don't need to see the rankings to know I'm that I'm the strongest."

Sunny looked at him exasperated.

"How can you be so arrogant?"

"It's called having self-confidence Sunny, have you heard of it?"

She looked at him with her eye twitching and angrily started eating the mountain of food.

'Where does all of this food even go.'

He looked at the short girl in amazement as she kept eating more and more.

He turned towards Cassie, who was still staring at his general direction in shock before she went back to eating.

As he looked at the pathetic girl trying and failing to not drop her food while eating he couldn't help but feel bad.

'Wasn't she supposed to have a help who helped her or something?'

He stared at her for a second, considering what to say.

"Hey, what's your name?"

Cassie flinched, almost dropping her fork in the process and looked at him.

"You...you are real?"

He raised his eyebrow at her weird question.

"Ofcourse, why wouldn't I be."

She looked unsure, thinking whether she was hallucinating.

Sunny stopped eating for a moment, looking at them both with curiosity.

"It's just... well it's nothing I guess," She looked hesitant, as if hiding something, "My name's Cassia, you can call me Cassie however." She said softly.

Gilgamesh nodded his head even though she couldn't see.

'It never made sense to me why she would tell people to call her Cassie instead, her original name and 'Cassie' only have a one letter diffrence.'

He considered asking her about it but decided against it.

He sat silently for a while eating the last bit of the food that was left.

"Shouldn't you have a social worker or someone to feed you?"

Cassie looked down at her plate in embarrassment, he felt almost felt bad for asking her about that.

"I did, but she told me that she had been ordered to do something else for a while due to an emergency."

He didn't know how to feel about that. The reason felt weird, couldn't they have assigned someone else in the meanwhile to take care of her?

"How about I feed you, my food is finished plus I don't have any classes to attend right now," He said as amiably as he could, "Plus I wouldn't mind feeding a girl as cute as you." He added jokingly.

Cassia blushed bright red and vehemently shook her head.

"Th-there is no need for that, I can feed myself on my own-"

He gently took the spoon from her hand and bought it towards her mouth after placing the food on it.

"Come on say ah."

She looked as if she still wanted to argue against it but nonetheless opened her mouth while looking like a bright tomato.

Sunny looked at the scene happening infront of her in bewilderment with a tinge of jealousy.

'I can't believe that I have willingly reduced myself to a mere handler of a blind girl,' He thought disheartened,

'I am only doing this for my future.' He tried to encourage himself, curbing the urge to sigh.

...

He was back in his room after talking to a few more people at the cafeteria, just when he was going through his communicator to see if it had anything interesting, an intrusive thought struck him.

"How's the porn in this universe?"

He wasn't planning on searching it up or anything but it was still pretty interesting to think about.

"There's probably a huge market for porn of Awakened people right? The higher someone's Rank is, the more amount people would pay to watch them considering that even most of these Sleepers are much more gorgeous than any of the models in my previous world."

He ran his hand through his hair, admiring his golden locks.

"But then again, if you're a Master or even an Awakened you'd probably get more money just working for the Government or the big three clans than being an onlyfans model. Hmm, but there will still people who are traumatized and would never even want to be in the Dream Realm again."

He sat up with his hands behind his back giving him support and looked out the artificial window while shaking his head.

"What a weird line of thought."

He didn't have any classes to attend right, out of all the classes he had only opted for the Combat Class to test his body.

Sighing,—he had started to sigh alot nowadays—he considered whether he should have taken another class or not.

He doubted there was anything these mongrels could teach him anyways. The only other thing he was interested in was the Wilderness Survival Class only because he was a fan of history in both this and his previous life.

He didn't want to waste his time learning how to survive, hunt, climb or the weak points of any Nightmare Creature—they weren't worth his time—mainly because he already knew how to do all that due to the experiences in his previous life.

He got up and strected with both his arms above his head to distract himself.

"I guess, it's finally time to test out [Gate of Babylon]."

The thought itself made him exhilarated and his blood pump faster oddly enough.

With a grin he opened the Runes of [Gate of Babylon].

Aspect Ability: [Gate of Babylon]

Aspect Ability Description: [An endless treasury located in [UNKNOWN] waiting to be filled with treasures. A truly befitting ability for a Greedy King.]

Nodding his head, Gilgamesh went over what he knew about the original Gate of Babylon.

From what he knew, the og Gil could trap people inside, throw things outside at God knows what speed, had multiple Noble Phantasm inside, it was actually a real place with multiple rooms and floors.

"I wish that I had paid more attention to the Nasuverse." He winced at the lost opportunity.

He was planning on watching it but later procrastinated due to the sheer amount of stuff that he had to watch to understand it.

Most of what he knew was from reading fanfictions and searching things out of curiosity.

"I wonder if this Gate of Babylon is connected to the original."

Gilgamesh rubbed his hands greedily, his face twisting with a evil grin.

If that was the case then he would become the strongest being in this universe in almost no time.

He checked the time on clock and picked up his communicator.

Without waiting anymore he attempted to open a portal.

The knowledge on how to open it was almost instinctual, ingrained in his brain barely taking a millisecond to form, immediately knowing where and what size he wanted it to be.

Gilgamesh looked at the portal, fascinated.

It has opened up in front of him on the floor, big enough that he wouldn't feel uncomfortable stepping inside of it.

It's swirling shape emitted a golden colored circle from itself as it appeared. With the small ethereal sparks flying of it, it's golden color light in color at the end but growing brighter and more concentred as it neared the centre.

Indeed, it looked like a portal to another world.

Excitement coursing through his veins, he couldn't stop himself anymore.

Lifting his leg, he stepped in.

...

He landed somewhere, not being able to see anything in front, back or anywhere.

Just as he thought that, light erupted from everywhere at once.

Blinking his eyes due to the sudden eruption of light.

Focusing his eyes in front of him he finally saw where he was.

His breath got caught in his throat.

There was an immense gate with two ginormous doors in front, sealed securely, its obsidian stone and golden metal looked incredibly imposing in the dim light of the chamber.

There were multiple colossal pillars all around him, supporting the roof, their surface etched with multiple ancient symbols.

He moved forward, looking at the gates more deeply, on either side of the doors and on the top them, he could discern the multiple intricate carvings , he stared at the designs for a moment longer, appreciating their craftsmanship.

On either side of the doors were, massive, stylized golden figures—perhaps they were guardians or something?—crouched, their forms looking shadowed and menacing, the red ruby in their eyes looked at him for a moment, judging his worth before they turned away looking at the walls again, having found him worthy.

The invisible lights illuminated the huge perfectly cut pieces of dark marble-like material below him, making it reflective, he could see his reflection on them clearly as if they were mirrors.

Above the gargantuan gate was a design of the sun rising from the sea made with gold.

(Image)

He sauntered towards the doors while looking all around him with child-like fascination.

Gilgamesh had to turn his neck all the way up to look all the way to the top of the floor. He looked insignificant and miniscule in comparison to the whole room.

If he had to make an estimate, he'd say that the doors were around the height of the Eiffel Tower.

Gilgamesh pressed his hands against the doors, pushing with all his strength to make them open, but to no avail.

"What if I have to pull the doors inside instead."

Rubbing the back of his head, he tried to find a ridge inbetween the doors.

There were none, the doors were perfectly and smoothly pressed against each other.

He hadn't believed that he would be able to open them, for now anyways.

Turning back, he looked at the vast and empty expanse of the treasury.

The area was atleast 6 football fields wide and 12 football fields long.

Gilgamesh was terrified not only due to the sheer scale of it but also because he knew that he could open uncountable numbers of these rooms if he wanted to.

"How did the original Gilgamesh manage to fill even one of these rooms?!"

Just the idea of filling even one of these to the top was utterly outrageous and absurd.

It looked like the OG Gil wasn't lying when he said he had all the treasure of the world inside of it.

Standing there in front of the door he made a promise to himself.

"I'll fill up all of these rooms, doesn't matter if they are infinite in number, I will make this treasury the best in not only this, but all the worlds."

Gilgamesh folded his arms with a calm smirk on his face. If anyone could accomplish that task, it would be him.

Letting his arms drop, he willed another room in existence.

This time he tried to control the size of it.

The floor infront of him parted, revealing a staircase going towards complete darkness.

Walking down the steps, Gilgamesh stopped when he reached the last one. The lights lit on, illuminating the room.

The room was the same size as the original one.

Gilgamesh sighed at his failure even though it was expected.

"I wanted to see if I could drop someone in a room so small, that they get crushed to death the instant they fall in."

Instead he attempted to open a portal all the way to the top of the floor.

It worked just as Gilgamesh had expected. Most people below the rank of Master would probably die if they fell from that height.

He didn't plan on using such cheap tricks against real opponents, he would be disgusted with himself if he had to resort to such tricks.

Satisfied with what Gilgamesh had seen for now he opened a portal right below himself and fell through.

...

The first thing that he did when he returned was to check the time on both his communicator and the clock on the wall.

After confirming that the time on both the devices were the same, he dropped the communicator back on the table.

Walking back towards the bed, Gilgamesh sat down on it.

It wasn't the smartest way to check if there was a time dilation between the treasury and the real world but it got the job done.

Picking up his pillow, Gilgamesh opened a portal in front of himself and threw the pillow inside. Watching it disappear almost instantly.

Next he opened a portal for himself and went inside again.

Inside the treasury he was standing in front of the pillow.

Gilgamesh had decided to test the combat capabilities of his portals here instead of outside to make sure he didn't damage anything.

First up: Speed test.

A portal opened below the pillow and another one behind him on the left side.

As the pillow fell inside the first portal, he willed it appear in the one next to him and launch itself as fast as it could.

In a blink of an eye the pillow rocketed past him at an indescribable speed. It exploded against the doors, most of it's material being reduced to fine dust.

"Amazing, a sword flying at that speed or even a small rock would be incredibly lethal, having superpowered strength and durability or not."

Next Gilgamesh tested it's accuracy.

Not giving himself much time to think, he opened a portal below one of the remaining few white feather of the pillow and another portal beside him.

Aiming for the ruby eye of the golden statue, the feather launched out of the portal, hitting at the dead centre of the eye.

Something moved inside the eyes of the statues.

They looked at him...with amusement?

Gilgamesh decided to ignore the odd nature of the statues for now.

Next thing he wanted to test was the range of his portals.

Concentrating for a moment, a portal opened far away from him.

It was right at the end of room, he had a feeling that it could go even further then that.

Whistling appreciatingly, he moved on to the next thing, the amount of portals that he could open.

Gilgamesh started by opening a single portal at first.

Then 10.

20.

30.

40.

50.

69.

70.

80.

90.

100.

No matter what he did, he could not pass one hundred.

One hundred was the limit for now.

"Not bad considering I don't even have one thing to launch against my enemies. Though, these numbers, what are they linked to? The amount of Cores I have or the Rank that I'm on currently?"

Without his predecessor's memory of what happened in the First Nightmare he couldn't say for sure.

Since he could not confirm it till he gained another Soul Core, he left it at that.

He wanted to test more things but since barely thirty minutes were left for his Combat Classes when he had checked the time in the real world before returning, he decided to go back.

After doing a 360 degrees turn to look at everything and to etch it into his mind, he opened a portal beneath himself and fell into it.

...

Checking the time, Gilgamesh realised that only a few minutes were left before the class started.

If he didn't hurry then he'd be late.

The only reason he was interested in attending the class was to fight against Nephis and Caster.

Taking a sip of water from the plastic bottle relaxedly, Gilgamesh placed the bottle on the table beside his bed.

Shoving his hands inside his pockets but deciding against it, he placed his hands behind his back like one of those cultivators.

Opening a portal beneath himself—the sudden feeling of going down and abruptly landing on the surface was very fun—he opened another one above the floor in the dojo where the class was taking place.

Gilgamesh's portal was placed at perfect height, allowing him to farm as much aura as possible.

...

He dropped from his second portal, hand clasped comfortably behind his back.

The room had suddenly fallen quite.

Everyone was staring at him.

'Time for the finisher.'

An arrogant grin made it's way on his face.

"I am not late am I?"

Pin drop silence.
