c82: "Well, I Want Them All"
"Ah, what do you think? Tell me your thoughts."
Uchiha Gen glared slightly, voice tinged with playful irritation.
Kurenai Kurenai was the first to answer honestly:
"Learning under a jōnin gives you rapid advancement, strong security, high status, faster promotion, and better rewards."
"Besides, I served with you back at the Kirigakure mission; our trust is already established. If you become our leader, I'll be glad to follow."
"But you're on the ANBU police force, and it's usually inactive in peacetime, right?"
Gen nodded confidently. "Don't worry, I'll handle the logistics and permissions myself."
"Yugao?" he asked next.
Yugao Uzuki smiled warmly. "Of course I'll follow. We're the same age and share many values."
"And from what I know, good subordinates often get taught ninjutsu by their captain, right?"
"Since you're Uchiha and one of the prodigious twins, your jutsu library is extensive."
"There's bound to be something perfect for me in it."
Gen chuckled at her directness. "If you're diligent, I won't hesitate to teach."
Passing down jutsu is the most common way civilian shinobi learn new techniques, but only if approved by the leader.
"Anko?" he turned to Mitarashi Anko.
Anko ruffled her hair and smiled. "You're my senior and teammate, so I'm in too."
"We're all classmates, close in age and mindset, so we'll get along."
Gen suppressed a grin—she spoke truthfully. No jealousy, no conflict. Yet in a group of three spirited kunoichi, sparks could fly. But if managed well, the benefits would outweigh the risks and if not… well, he had genjutsu for that.
"The plan's set. I'll execute it soon," he declared.
"You're sure?" the girls chorused, hopeful.
"With you three under me, missions will be smoother. Fewer conflicts, more synergy and of course, more fun."
Gen smiled confidently. "Worst case, I get sent to prank Minato at the Hokage residence."
Minato Namikaze could handle a little mischief.after all, he was their Hokage and peacekeeper. Everybody needed a happy sidekick sometimes.
With Gen's assurance, the girls nodded in agreement. They resumed training drills targeted combat followed by genjutsu and ninjutsu sparring.
An hour later, they dispersed. Gen returned home, cleaned up, and set his next plan into motion.
He first visited Uchiha Mikoto, appealing on both personal and clan grounds. Publicly, he aimed to leverage his leadership role to elevate Uchiha influence within ANBU. Privately, he felt drawn to one of his teammates and wanted Mikoto's blessing and perhaps some matchmaking advice. Mikoto readily agreed and planned to consult Kushina Uzumaki under the guise of motherhood and friendship support.
Next he tried to find Shisui. Alas, Shisui was away on an ANBU mission. No matter he'd catch him later.
Then Gen visited Kakashi Hatake at the Hatake residence. Kakashi was resting—apparently burned out after the Sand–Leaf mission.
To win him over, Gen presented "The Legend of Strong Perseverance," a motivational jōnin memoir (a predecessor to Jiraiya's later work). As anticipated, Kakashi, a devoted fan of Jiraiya's writing, accepted it eagerly. Grateful, he agreed to speak kindly of Gen to Minato in due course. Their bond, rooted in shared missions and Shisui's introduction, gave Gen the edge.
A few days later, Shisui returned. Gen met him and candidly explained the plan and why it involved three girls. It wasn't manipulation they had all voiced desire to serve under him. Shisui, understanding the social dynamics, quickly supported the idea.
Meanwhile, Minato discreetly polled Kurenai and Yugao for their honest feelings both expressed excitement about working under Gen and deepened ties between Uchiha and Leaf authority.
Given the potential for strong bonds and clan unity, Minato approved the request.
Yes, it was unconventional. A female-heavy team led by a young jōnin was unheard of in Konoha. Most teams contained one kunoichi at most. But with their talent, compatibility, and Gen's vision, Minato saw no harm only promise.
Soon, Gen received his official promotion as a leading jōnin and ANBU squad captain an honor that resonated deeply within the Uchiha clan.
Clan members praised Minato Namikaze, grateful for the recognition and advancement he granted them. The Fourth Hokage's decision seen as balanced and forward-thinking cemented his popularity among the Uchiha.
