Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Choosing a Daughter-in-Law

"Father, do I really have to get married and have children?"

Wu Rulong looked troubled and said somewhat reluctantly.

He had always been focused on cultivation and had never considered matters of romance; if father hadn't mentioned it, he probably wouldn't even have had such a thought.

Wu Hao, on the other hand, sighed, his tone carrying a hint of melancholy as he spoke.

"Rulong, do you know what your mother said when she left back then? She said she hoped that when she returned to the Wu Family, she would see a happy scene filled with grandchildren."

"Furthermore, in this vast Wu Family, it's just the two of us, which feels a bit too empty. So, I want to hold a grandson, understand?"

Seeing his Father's serious expression, Wu Rulong muttered inwardly, 'You say you want a daughter-in-law, where am I supposed to find one for you?'

But there was no other way, since he was a filial person, so he gritted his teeth and agreed.

"But Father, where do I find a wife? Aren't we living deep in the mountains now?"

Wu Rulong seemed to have thought of something at this moment and asked somewhat blankly.

Wu Hao was taken aback, only then remembering that they had been living in the same mountain for over ten years. After realizing his cultivation talent was extremely mediocre and without any 'golden finger' (cheat), he chose to live in seclusion in the mountains.

It was precisely because of this that he met his wife, Su Qiaoran, in this mountain.

The reason they continued to live in seclusion in the mountains afterwards was because he was determined to keep a low profile. In other words, the reason his son hadn't found a daughter-in-law was because he hadn't interacted with women?

Thinking of this, Wu Hao coughed and then said with utmost seriousness.

"Alright, if that's the case, then today I, your Father, will take you to stroll around the nearby cities. If you find any high-quality excellent women you fancy, just say the word, and I, your Father, will propose marriage for you. Of course, don't pick someone with too powerful background."

Wu Hao added a reminder afterwards. He still had some understanding of the outside situation before coming into seclusion, so he knew that the strongest city lords in those cities were only at the Nascent Soul Stage. As long as he kept a low profile, it should be fine.

Hearing that he could go out, Wu Rulong's eyes immediately lit up. Eighteen years, he had been stuck here for eighteen years and was long bored. If Father hadn't told him not to go out, he probably would have secretly snuck out to play long ago.

Now that he could finally go out, how could Wu Rulong not be happy?

"Let's go, we'll head to the cities outside."

After Wu Hao finished speaking, he walked towards the outside of the courtyard. Seeing this, Wu Rulong quickly followed.

In the Xuantian Realm, land is mostly ownerless, so after coming to live in seclusion in the mountains, Wu Hao enclosed a large area to make a courtyard.

He didn't know if it was because Wu Hao was lucky or for some other reason, but no demonic beasts had come to cause trouble over the years.

On the way, Wu Rulong was as excited as a child, looking around and touching things. Wu Hao didn't stop him, after all Wu Rulong had been at home before he turned eighteen, and his understanding of the Xuantian Realm was basically from Wu Hao stories.

Before long, under Wu Hao lead, the two finally arrived at a nearby city. They saw a plaque hanging above the city gate with the three large characters 'Sunset City' written on it.

Pedestrians and cultivators came and went at the city gate, presenting a bustling and prosperous scene.

It was the first time Wu Rulong had seen Humans other than his Father, and he immediately became excited, shouting.

"Dad, look, Humans!"

"Alright, alright, I know."

Wu Hao immediately felt several strange gazes from around him and somewhat awkwardly stopped the excited Wu Rulong.

It was his own fault, he should have brought Ru Long to Sunset City more often.

He rummaged through his storage ring. Although most of it was top-grade spirit stones, there were also quite a few low-grade and mid-grade spirit stones. The rule in Sunset City was that mortals had to pay a fifty-wen entrance fee.

Cultivators, on the other hand, had to pay five low-grade spirit stones, so for cultivators with lower cultivation levels, freely entering and exiting Sunset City was a problem.

After paying ten low-grade spirit stones, Wu Hao took Wu Rulong into Sunset City. This was also the first time Wu Hao had re-entered a Human city in eighteen years.

After entering Sunset City, Wu Hao and Wu Rulong witnessed a magnificent city scene. There were vendors and pedestrians everywhere. Although most were mortals, there were also quite a few cultivators, probably about two cultivators for every ten people.

Looking at the scene before him, Wu Rulong was contemplating his next course of action, and just then, Wu Hao spoke.

"Let's go, let's find an inn first and get a room to rest. Finding a daughter-in-law isn't something that can be done in a short Time."

After all, a daughter-in-law couldn't be chosen casually. She had to at least be at the Foundation Establishment Stage to become Wu Hao's daughter-in-law. Although it was said that those with high cultivation levels found it difficult to have children, it was easier for those with slightly higher cultivation levels to give birth to descendants with spiritual roots.

Regarding this point, Wu Rulong naturally listened to his Father. The father and son quickly arrived at an inn. Under the innkeeper's shocked gaze, Wu Hao took out twenty mid-grade spirit stones and booked two 'Heaven' level private rooms.

In the inns of Sunset City, there were private rooms specifically for cultivators, divided into 'Heaven', 'Earth', 'Mysterious', and 'Yellow' levels. A 'Yellow' level room only required one low-grade spirit stone to rent, but only for one day.

A 'Mysterious' level room cost ten low-grade spirit stones per day, an 'Earth' level room cost fifty low-grade spirit stones per day, and a 'Heaven' level room cost one hundred low-grade spirit stones per day. Wu Hao and the others didn't know how long they would need to stay, so they temporarily rented for ten days.

Sitting on the bed in the 'Heaven' level private room, Wu Hao waved his hand and summoned the innkeeper.

"Esteemed guest, may I ask what you need me for?"

The innkeeper looked at Wu Hao before him and asked with some trepidation. After all, Wu Hao could take out twenty mid-grade spirit stones for the room fee without blinking an eye and didn't even need change. As long as he wasn't foolish, he could tell that Wu Hao was no ordinary person.

Wu Hao pondered for a moment before asking.

"Innkeeper, this is my first time coming to Sunset City. My purpose this time is to find a wife for my son. Do you have any leads, Innkeeper? Don't worry, I just need the other party's cultivation to be above the Foundation Establishment Stage, their spiritual roots to be mid-grade or above. Other conditions are negotiable. Of course, their character must be decent."

"As long as you can suggest someone suitable, this mid-grade spirit stone will be your reward."

Hearing Wu Hao words and seeing Wu Hao take out another mid-grade spirit stone, the innkeeper's eyes immediately lit up.

He himself was also a cultivator, but his cultivation was not high, just barely reaching the Foundation Establishment Stage. However, he couldn't sense any aura from Wu Hao, which showed that Wu Hao's cultivation was definitely above his. Furthermore, considering Wu Hao could casually take out mid-grade spirit stones as a reward, Wu Hao's cultivation probably reached at least the Nascent Soul Stage.

Thinking of this, the innkeeper immediately felt uneasy and quickly waved his hand in refusal.

"It is my honor to serve Senior. Please take back the spirit stone!"

He was truly worried. What if Wu Hao killed him after he accepted the mid-grade spirit stone? So, for the sake of safety, he absolutely couldn't accept it.

But Wu Hao suddenly became anxious and said with a stern face.

"Innkeeper, if you don't accept my spirit stone, are you perhaps looking down on me?"

After saying that, a faint aura emanated from Wu Hao's body, instantly filling the innkeeper with fear. In his perception, Wu Hao's aura was like a stormy sea, and he was just a small boat within it, liable to capsize at any moment.

Thinking of this, how could the innkeeper dare to refuse? He quickly accepted the mid-grade spirit stone and then proceeded to reveal the identities of all the prominent young ladies in Sunset City.
