Valerio narrowed his eyes at him.
"You're awfully nervous, and I'm not sure why." He said, "You've been working for me for more than three years now, so I'm sure my presence doesn't make you uncomfortable. Or does it?"
"Of course not, sir." Luca quickly shook his head.
"Then relax." Valerio turned away, making his way to the spiral staircase. He proceeded up to the second floor and the further he walked down the hall, his men bowed to him, not rising until he was out of sight.
The man stopped in front of Evelyn's door.
His brows furrowed a bit. Something was wrong. He'd been getting that feeling since he stepped into the building.
First with how quiet the house was. And then with Luca acting all strange and nervous.
"Evelyn." He knocked on the door.
There was no response.
"Evelyn," he called again. Still nothing.
Now he was starting to grow annoyed. What the heck was going on? Surely she wasn't ignoring him, right?
