Chapter 35 - An unexpected journey

I left the guest room which Avira occupied, and headed for the servants' quarters. There, I appointed Mira and Violet to take care of my guest. It was late, and even though they were already sleeping when I got to their quarters, they had to shake sleep off their eyes, and carry out my instructions . They could not afford to do otherwise.

I left for my father's chambers afterwards, and after a slight knock on his door, I let myself in. As I half expected, he was laying on the bed with his limbs stretched out, but he was very much awake. I looked from the figure lying on the bed to the wheelchair which sat lazily on a corner, resisting the urge to feel sad. I was happy I did because he looked up towards my direction just then, and saw me. He hated it when he was looked at or treated with sympathy, and as difficult as it was, we all tried not to treat him with sympathy, even though we could not stop ourselves from feeling sympathetic towards him.
