"My daughter's," he mumbled, and I couldn't believe it. Or maybe I heard wrongly.
"Speak out," I said, looking disbelievingly at him. It was an opportunity to get him to change his mind.

The twins had the same expression about them. Relief, grim, angry, and sad all fused in one expression. The warriors were expressionless, trained to be just that way, they held no emotion.
