I should head back inside to nurse the pain, but I didn't. Instead I headed outside the royal quarters, in search of my mates.
Something didn't feel right, and I could feel it in my guts. But whatever it was, I had the feeling that I was about to find out.
I descended the staircase at the entrance, and headed outside, with no destination in mind. If the mate link was working, locating them would have been easy as pie.
But without the link, I had to rely on luck or simply ask around to locate them. I didn't feel comfortable with the idea of asking around. I didn't want anyone to think that there was something wrong between their Alphas and me, so I continued walking around blindly, pretending to be taking a tour.
The pain had increased slightly, but I didn't think of heading back to my bedroom. If not because of anything else, I didn't want Mira to look at me with those sad and pitiful eyes like she did yesterday.
