Synopsis
They called it an honor. I knew it was a death sentence. Every year, the Xyioms demand a tribute. One human. Bound. Branded. Broken. But I didn’t wait to be chosen. I volunteered. Disguised in stolen armor, hidden behind a name that isn’t mine. Why? Because I’m done running. Because I’ve seen what they do to the weak. Because if I was going to fall, I’d fall on my own terms. But the beast king—Khael—doesn’t want another servant. He wants control. He wants devotion. And somehow, he wants *me*. He doesn’t know what I am. Yet. And if he ever finds out… Will he kill me? Or crown me?

Chapter 1 - CHP1

In a world where the most powerful specie; Xyioms, who have been chained for thousands of years find a medium to break loose and begin to roam free, humans will then be subjected to servitude and have no freedom of their own.

The carelessness of a single man, thousands of years ago, put the whole world at risk and jeopardised the future of humans to come.

It had been rumoured that the most powerful species to ever roam the surface of the earth resided and were chained behind the largest mountains. These beings stood at seven feet and could rip off a Human's head from the rest of its body in just seconds and the chaos they caused before humans found a way to chain them down with powerful magic was close to nothing the world had ever seen.

Ramajo, a human, didn't believe that there existed certain species who were able to cause much destruction. Although he had not been born in the era where the Xyioms roamed free, the evidence of their existence was etched in every corner—ranging from collapsed buildings to deserted places, but they were still not enough for Ramajo to believe the tale of the deadly Xyioms.

He was in disbelief when he learnt about the Xyioms and set out to find out if they truly existed or not. He had been warned about the idea of venturing into the deep mountains when he revealed his aching curiosity to his friends but he had refused to listen and decided to set out, all by himself.

When the whole world was asleep, Ramajo rose up, prepared himself and went towards the mountains where he believed that the Xyioms were chained.

Excitement bubbled in his chest as he got closer to the mountains but was disappointed to find out that it was a mountain filled with mere rocks and there was nothing of the ordinary residing there. He then quickly came to a conclusion; the Xyioms were just a myth.

He didn't want to give up so easily, so he continued with his search, turning every stone in his path, hoping to find anything that would give him a hint, until he grew tired.

"This is bullshit!" He barked, kicking a stone in his path angrily. He failed to realise the particular stone that he had kicked.

The stone landed upon a rock and broke into half, the floor beneath Ramajo trembled slightly but he was too angry to notice it.

He packed up and began heading home, eager to prove to his people that all their lives had been built around fear. The very mountains no one dared to venture into, Ramajo had gone to explore and yet, he had found nothing.

By the time he got back, it was already dawn and people had started to move about their businesses.

He quickened his pace, making sure to arrive before he lost the people he had sighted.

"It's been a lie, you all. We have all been living a lie all our lives!!" He yelled, waving his hands in the air to draw their attention to himself.

It took him double the effort before he could get them to surround him and listen to what he had to say.

"....yes, it was dangerous for me to venture out at night, but I needed to prove a point. The Xyioms are not real, I went into the mountains myself and I couldn't find anything." He uttered.

He wasn't sure of the reaction he had expected from the people, but it definitely wasn't this silence and the blank stares he got from them.

The silence was deafening. Everything had stood still and the only thing that could be heard was the pounding of Ramajo's heart in his chest.

"You all do not believe me..." His words came out more like a conviction than a question.

"You bastard, what did you do?!" A man screamed and lunged himself at Ramajo from the crowd. The man grabbed his neck, squeezing the life out of him but no one dared to intervene.

Even though most of them had been in secret doubt about the existence of the Xyioms, they weren't stupid enough to go searching for them.

The mere description of what the Xyioms looked like was enough to send shivers down anyone's spine.

"You bastard, how could you go into the mountains, do you want to have us all killed?!" The man yelled out like a lunatic and kept on squeezing Ramajo's neck frantically.

"You are going to pay for this, you..."

Then all of a sudden, they all heard the noise. And as if in unison, their heart race slowed down until none of the people were breathing.

It sounded like a rumble at first, as though something was awakening but then it came again, louder this time, accompanied by a loud roar that sounded like thunder claps.

The mad man loosened his fingers slowly around Ramajo's neck, his jaw hanging down loosely in disbelief.

Ramajo fell on his knees as soon as he had been freed and struggled to take in breath, the man had almost been on the verge of killing him.

The thunderclap like a roar came again. The floor in front of them suddenly divided into half; something was rising up from beneath the earth—Xyioms!

"Run for your lives everybody!" The mad man struggled to get his words out. His voice came out like a tiny whisper.

"RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!" he yelled above his lungs when the first Xyoim came into sight.

But the speed of the Xyioms was incomprehensible—it was a hundred times the speed of humans. Their speed was close to that of lightning and in just a few seconds, they had surrounded the earth, feasting on the human flesh.

Desperate cries and screams filled the earth. Humans struggled to get away from them, but it would take only seconds for the Xyioms to come upon them and tear them apart from the inside.

The Xyioms had been locked up for thousands of years without any access to blood which kept them in check and now that they had been released, they didn't hold back in feasting upon their nemesis.

Even amongst the chaos, Ramajo had surprisingly not been eaten yet.

The Xyioms remembered his scent and avoided him as they went after the other humans.
