Chapter 5 - A stranger I know

The bright ray of sunshine from the window hits her eyes.Callista tries blinking her eyes a few times so as to adjust to the blinding light. She sat up,her head pounding slightly.

The glowing blue eyes, the piercing cold of the woods and the sudden realization that she had been taken away. Her heart pounded at that thought but then she looked around.

Her room!.She was on her bed!!

Was it just a dream??

Swinging her legs over the side of the bed,she stood up and made her way to the bathroom. Her reflection stared back at her,the same hazel eyes and the same dark hair in tangled mess.Everything seemed normal, yet she couldn't shake off the feeling that something had changed.

"MOM?"

She called as she walked into the kitchen, finding her mom at the stove, flipping pancakes. Her mom turned, smiling, but there was a flicker of something in her eyes -worry,maybe?

"Good morning sweetie, you slept in.Are you feeling okay?"her voice was too careful,as if she was waiting for a question from her daughter.

Callista hesitated before taking a seat.

"I had a weird dream last night...about the woods.And a...werewolf"

Her hand froze mid-motion,gripping the spatula. It was a tiny pause, barely noticeable, but Callista caught it.Then just as quickly, she continued as if nothing happened.

"Dreams can be strange sometimes" she said lightly. "You shouldn't dwell too much on them, maybe you've been reading too many fantasy novels" she smiled slightly.

"mom,are you sure I didn't go out last night?"she asked again,unconvinced.

Again, her mom stiffened but quickly smiled. "No honey, you were asleep the whole night, why?"

Callista notices the tension in her mom's voice but figured asking questions won't get her anywhere,so she decided to let go - for now.

School was no better. She was restless, her mind constantly drifting back to the eerie dream that didn't feel like a dream at all. She barely paid attention in class, and even Margaret and Kristal noticed.

"Earth to Callista," Kristal waved a hand in front of my face. "What's up with you?"

"okay, you're either in love or you saw a ghost, which one?"Margaret asked

"Or both, Callista, you finally got a crush?"Kristal asked winking at Callista.

Callista forced a smile. "Just tired"

"uh uhn, sure. Spill the beans girl"Margaret said, smiling heaviily

"Girls,it's nothing,I promise.....just had a bad dream"she replied them.

Margaret arched a brow but let it slide. "Well, maybe this will wake you up." She gestured towards the front of the classroom where Mrs. Reynolds stood with a new student beside her.

He was tall, lean yet muscular, with jet-black hair that fell effortlessly into place. But it was his eyes that caught her breath—deep, piercing blue. The same shade as—

No. It couldn't be.

"Class, this is Lucien Blackwood. He's just transferred here, so I expect you all to make him feel welcome."

Lucien. The name sent a shiver down her spine.

He met her gaze and smirked, as if he knew something she didn't. Her heart pounded in her chest, and for the second time that day, she knew something was very, very wrong.

And somehow, it all had to do with her.

Lucien took the next empty sit beside Callista and smirked at her who is unaware that she staring completely at the hot guy that's right next to her.

"Did you miss me?"he asked as his lips bent to a brief smirk

Callista blinked,confused "I...what?"

"you were staring, thought maybe you recognized me"

crosses he arms under her breasts "no I don't and I wasn't staring"

Lucien chuckles and tilts his head "yea,,sure you weren't"

Callista couldn't deny a strange pull she feels towards him which made her feel uneasy.

Margaret whispers brought her back "he's cute"

"And hot too,I think he's into you Callista"Kristal also whispered and the two of the giggled.

Callista whispers back, staring at Lucien's blue eyes

"That's what worries me".
