Rain scoffed and looked at Sunny.
"You look like a brat."
"I take that as a compliment since I am significantly older from you."
Sunny said that while slowly standing up from his chair and faced Rain who was still looking straight at him.
"So who are you?"
"Isn't it polite to introduce yourself first when you are asking someone else for a name after you interupted them?"
Sunny tossed her a badge showing her that he is a citized of SS rank. Since her father worked for the government she knew that SA and SS rank are 2 highest ranks you can obtain.
"I-I am so sorry."
"Save it. So who are you?"
"R-rain. I am Rain. I don't know why am I called that I just know that this is my name."
Sunny smiled at her and sight.
"I think it suits you well."
"Is there anything I can do for you to forgive me for the disrespect?"
"Sure, come here, I will train you."
"Why?"
"I sit here all day, most of the days, yet you are they only and in fact first one that approached me without hesitation or fear or any alteriative reason."
"Will I be strong?"
"Well I haven't lost a single fight till now so I will let you make the decision off that information by yourself."
"May I ask what will you teach me?"
"How to survive and potentionally something more then that. At the end of the day it all depands on your own determination."
"Hey Rain, come here. Now!"
Rain looked back and saw 3 of her male classmates coming closer to her.
Sunny did not bother to look at them and just motioned Rain to enter his house.
"Hey, are you ignoring us? Hey!"
One of the guys tried to enter behind her but stopped right in front of the gate similarly to other 2.
Sunny slowly apprached his front gate and finished his cold coffee.
"You 3. Touch Rain or bother her again and I promise you that nightmare would be a blessing you would never get to experience."
They stood frozed right in front of his house unable to move.
"Do you know who...."
"I don't and I don't care about your connections so save to someone who would care about it."
With that Sunny enterd his house and faced Rain.
"They won't bother you again... Well at very least I hope they won't"
"Did you do something to them?"
"Not really. I just told them to stop."
"So they…left?"
"Of course not. After all I did not let them leave. They will stay still until I say it is enough."
Rain tried to look outside the window but Sunny interupted her action by asking her about what is she training in the most.
"Oh, mostly sword. After all that's what our instructors are teaching us. They are awakened so they are very respected in our school."
Sunny pointed to their backyard and said.
"Show me. I will decide see and if anything they taught you is of any use."
"While Rain was preparing Sunny made himself a new coffee stirred in a little bit of sugar and walked outside."
As Rain prepared Sunny pointed to some practice swords which for Sunny were made from a very tough wood.
"Alright. Attack me at will, Rain."
"But you don't have any weapon, I can't do that."
"I assume you have a lot of questions about me, right?"
"Well, yes. I do. Will you answer them?"
Sunny lifted his cupholder slightly on which his coffee was placed and said.
"If you manage to make me spil even a single drop of my coffee I will answer any and all of your questions. However if you don't."
"I get it."
"So? What are you still waiting for, Rain? Are you waiting for rain?"
"And are you wainting to be sunny?"
Sunny looked around himself and said confused.
"It is sunny."
"So why is it so dimly dark here?"
"Oh that. I made a cube of a sorth with my ability to prevent others from looking. From outside it just looks like big pitch black cube."
"Very not suspitions."
"It would be if I only made it but it was here all the time so after some time people stopped giving it weird looks and accepted it as something as a privacy device."
"I see."
"Time is not waiting for anyone, start already."
With that Rain attacked swinging her sword, first as an upper slash followed by downward slash slow right and let's not even talk about the left slash.
Sunny basically only took 4 steps back while slowly sipping his coffee.
"Is that all?"
Rain dropped into a crouching position and lunged at Sunny with explosive speed which Sunny dodged by stepping to the right making Rain fall face first into the grass.
Sunny finished his coffee and stopped Rain from making any more moves.
"What kind of moron taught you all this?"
"….… My instructors from school?"
"Yeah first lesson. Forget everything you were taugh. It will be of barely any use to you."
Sunny set aside his cup and spoon and faced Rain from the other side of the yard.
"Your goal is to learn this."
"What?"
As soon as she said that Sunny simply appeared in front of her covering entire distance of the yard in an instant.
"Woa…"
Sunny caught her hand from her falling on her back and asked.
"So what do you think, pretty cool isn't it?"
"How did you do it?"
"Well I stepped forward simply put."
"I see. I think I get it. It will take me some time to use it tho."
"Don't rush. After all you still have to train your body before you attempt to use this."
"If you were to use it right now which would mean you are a genius. Your whole body would go into a shock and you wouldn't be able to move."
"How do you know?"
"Because that's what happened to me when I did it for the first time. So don't do it. Unless you want to not move for day or two."
"Got it. So how will I train?"
After some time of listing things Sunny finished and Rain chuckeled.
"Wait you were serious?"
"You are starting now and you are not done until you finish everything."
"WHAAAAT?"
List consisted of physical and mental training as well as how to make a fire prepare melas and other survival things you need in order to survive in a dream realm.
After some time Rain was laying on the ground completely exhausted looking at Sunny sitting on his chair watching her.
"This is so not fair."
"Get use to it. Also you do know you will have to pay me, right?"
"You offered yourself."
"That's why I will give you a dicount for first 3 months. After that well no discount."
After she sight she sat up and asked.
"Do you live hear alone?"
"No I live with 2 other girls here."
"Are they your siblings? Also were are your parents?"
"They are not my siblings and my parents are not around."
"Must be nice not having parents around. You don't need to listen to them."
"Sorry, I was not honest fully. My parents are not around because they are not alive anymore."
"Oh... I am sorry. That was….."
"Forget it. Don't ever say that living without loving parents is a good thing. Your parents provide for you and love you. What else can you ask for, Rain? Of course they want their child to live happily. You will find out about that feeling in the future yourself."
There was an awkward silence between them for a moment which was swiftly broken by Sunny.
"Look at the time, I think you should go. Rain.
Rain looked at her watch and she paled instantly.
"My parents are going to kill me."
"Just say you were training with someone were special."
"May I ask something before I leave?"
2 questions.
"Who do you live with?"
Neph and Mia.
Nep...h... you mean Lady Nephis? The Changing star?"
"You know here true name and you don't know mine? That kinda hurts my pride."
"W-what? You are one of the true name holders?"
"Why of course. I will leave you at that, you are a smart girl so I know you will figure it out sooner or later. Since this was your second question you have to go."
Rain opened her mouth to protest, then closed it again.
"Before you go. Take this with you. It will mean you are one of my students."
He handed her necklace with black leather string and black serpent as if covered by something like mist.
"This is cool."
"Put it on and don't put it down. Promise me."
Rain looked at Sunny and nodded slowly.
"What if teachers from school tell me to put it away?"
"I have a true name and am Awakened. My authority is way higher then any of your teachers. Besides they wouldn't be able to take it away anyway. As to how am I so confident you will find out soon enough."
Sunny stepped around the house and face 3 guys still standing in front of his house now in tears.
"Will you bother her again?"
"No-no….please let us go."
Sunny waved his hand and with that they fell on the ground exhausted from standing still for a very long time.
With that Rain left fore here house and those 3 somehow crawled away as well.
In the evening when Mia and Nephis entered the house almost at the same time. They asked.
"Did you have a girl over here?"
Sunny looked at them for a moment and sight while saying nonchalantly.
"I did. What about it?"
"You are not denying it?"
"You are joking right? I can't deny it. Are you even listening you yourself? Also, stop talking in sync it is weird."
As soon as he said that all fo them recieved a notification on their phones from their....school.
Sunny read is aloud.
"Every...fresh? Awakened. Get to the academy tommorow at 8am"
He looked at them.
"Fresh? So everyone from Forgotten Shore and others from where they were as well?"
Mia and Nephis just shrugged and Neph said.
"Probably."
Sunny shook his head and laughed sightly.
"I guess I will just ignore it I mean what's the worst that can happen?"
Nephis looked at him and asked to read the small letters under the message.
"Everyone who will not attend will have their license terminated."
Sunny looked up from his phone and asked.
"Isn't that basically blackmail?"
Nephis thought for a moment and looked at Sunny but what Sunny said surprised her.
"This is different from our past life this whole situation never happened, but why?"
"Why are you talking about our past life as if it wasn't a secret in front of Mia?"
Sunny tilted his head and said bluntly.
"Because you told them. In the Cathedral...did you forget? We had a meeting there and we..."
"Oh...now when I think about it. I did say something like that. I forgot how many know about it tho."
"Cassia, Kai, Mia"
Nephis narrowed her eyes slightly and asked.
"Why not Effie and Seyshan?"
"They weren't present at that time and there wasn't other specific reason to discole this information to them anyway."
"Alright, so what do we do now?"
Sunny chuckeled and waved his hand while walking outside.
"I'm gonna head outside for a bit and meet up with you in school tomorrow...even tho I will sleep through it anyway."
Sunny closed his door behind him and headed towards Kai's residence.
"Kai?"
"Sunny? Why are you coming to me? Do you need something?"
"I thought it was obvious since I am going there in person."
"Fair enough."
"Do you want to come up here or..."
"Wait and you will see soon enough."
Sunny smiled and walked into a dark ally only to exit from a different one. One that is very close to Kai's reisdence.
Sunny entered Kai's residence as a shadow and stepped out of Kai's shadow starteling him.
"You could have done it right away. Why didn't you?"
"I wanted to walk a little. Why? Does it bother you I used your shadow as a gate?"
"No, just let me know beforehand next time you do this."
"I will think about it."
Kai walked to his kitchen counter and poured a glass of water to Sunny and himself.
Sunny took the glass, inspected it and drunk it quickly. As soon as they finished their drink Sunny faced Kai and asked.
"Ready?"
Kai nodded.
With that Sunny put his hand on his shoulder and they both dissapeared only for them to appear on the Chained Islands.
Kai dropped on his knees as he was still not used to this jump but it was safer this way.
"You good?"
Asked Sunny while outstretching his hand helping Kai stand up.
"I am a bit shocked it strains you even tho you are an Ascended."
"I am not. I am close to being one but I am not Ascended...yet."
"Yeah, I am just not used to the strain just yet. Have you been here with Lady Nephis as well?"
"No. Also stop saying Lady Nephis. Just say Nephis she doesn't care about stuff like that."
"I will try."
As they equipped their gear and started to head out of the main island using shadow step Kai asked as soon as they reached first chain link.
"Sunny. You do know we have to attend school tomorrow, right?"
"I do, but I don't really care so keep track of the time, Kai."
As he said that he jumped onto the chain and started to run downward to the other island.
Kai just sight and stretched his arms before doing the same.
He was avoiding flying because he would be easily spotted and since they were not here..."officially" it would be complicated and very problematic to explain how they got here.
Sunny waited for Kai and summoned Guardian and Saint. As soon as he faced them Kai landed.
"You 2 fight here with Kai notify me if anything out your caliber will appear."
Both Saint and Guardian faced away from him and walked away as if insulted by his comment.
"Oh my. I didn't know you have egos. That's amazing."
Kai stared at Sunny and asked.
"Why is it amazing? If I may ask."
"If they have egos that means they are becoming more powerful. After all beings that have their own ego are stronger from mindless beasts wound't you agree?"
"I see. Also, what did you mean by: me and 2 of your shadows will fight...here. What do you mean by HERE?"
"This side of the island. I will go under it"
"Alone?"
Happy tapped his shoulder and smiled.
Kai shook him off and grabbed his bow.
"Kai, there is no need for you to be so stressed, I am not your enemy. Besides master is never truly alone."
All of his shadows took corporeal form with their weapons and gear nicely visible.
Happy with his 2 scytes dangeling from chains wrapped around his forearms, Creepy with his sharp gauthlets be his side, Haughty with his great sword pu on his shoulder and gloomy with his staff hunged around his neck.
Haughty said while smirking.
"No need to worry, Kai. If you get hurt just scream loudly and I might save you."
"I'd rather die"
Haughly laughed and walked toward Sunny.
"Suit yourself"
Sunny just shook his head and fistbumped Kai for good hunt and dropped down.
Oposite side of the island worked differently then he thought. At first he thought he would have to fight them while holding parts of the island not to fall into the void under him but the true was that gravity was based around which side you faced. For this it meant as soon as you were close to the bottom of the island you'd as if flip and still faced down. Basically void is now above his head not below him.
Space around him looked decolated and...dead. Yeah that would be the best description of this place. Dark and sharp rocky terrian even with Sunny's night vision.
"This looks so...plain. I was hoping it would look better for some reason."
"Does it matter? Monsters are all around us so we can hunt and collect their material, right?"
Sunny looked at Haughty and the rest of his shadows and said while slowly smiling.
"Yeah. Alright guys you ready?"
They all nodded smirking .
Sunny gave a simple commad as he looked around and saw mostly everything moving.
"Kill everything you want. You all know what our goal is."
They all smiled while taking their fighting stance and said in sync.
"As you command, master."
With that all of them dispersed and started to attack everything that moved. Even if it didn't move they attacked it regardless.
Sunny was taking on the largest nightmare creatures but to be honest 90% of them all were corrupted monsters or great beasts unlike on the Kai's side on which it was filled with fallen rarely corrupted beasts.
Sunny's main objective were great monsters because they would give him the most amount of soul shards. After all he is an Ascended Devil and for him to become a Tyrent he'd have to either fight equivalent enemies to his rank or higher for him to gain anything. To be honest anytime he released his killing intent at anything of a smaller rank other than corrupted they'd just run away or avoid him all together.
"....end ...es."
"AWAKENED SUNLESS"
Sunny opened his eyes and looked at a pissed off old looking man holding a book looking thing.
"Hm? Yeah?"
"Did you come to school to take a nap?"
Sunny looked around himself seeing now a lot of gazes fixed on him and said with boredom.
"Yeah, that was the plan."
