Chapter 2 - Copying the Ability of the Invisible Man

"——Corpse.

A dead body can't do anything. Even if an enemy urinates on his head, he can't resist. Even a child can easily defeat him."

Russell saw the hour hand of the eye-wall clock pass twelve o'clock. He sat up, changed clothes, and prepared to start his plan to reach the top in one step.

"A new day."

This held great significance for him.

"According to the plot, tomorrow, the Global Guardians, who stand at the pinnacle of the Superhero pyramid, will be almost completely wiped out by Omni-Man, who has to clear obstacles for the Galactic Empire's conquest of Earth prematurely due to his son's abilities awakening."

Like Immortal, a combination of a pirated Superman and a pirated Vandal Savage; War Woman, a pirated Wonder Woman; Red Rush, a pirated Flash; and Aquarus, a pirated Aquaman.

There's Green Ghost, a pirated Green Lantern with a green magical stone, and Martian, a pirated Martian Manhunter.

Although each person's power can't compare to the originals.

Especially Immortal, who is a shrunken version of a shrunken version, but due to his hidden immortality, he will be the only one to survive.

"This batch of dead Superheroes will become corpses, except for Green Ghost who has no abilities herself.

I can acquire all of their abilities and become the most powerful Earthling overnight, bar none."

Russell's eyes were burning with fervor as he changed into a tracksuit suitable for activity.

Especially Red Rush's ability. Red Rush's speed is significantly faster than Omni-Man's, let alone Mark's.

The opportunity to reach the top in one step is after tomorrow.

However, there is only one problem standing in his way.

The address of the Global Guardians headquarters can be found on Kings Peak, the highest peak in the Uinta Mountains in Utah, about two thousand kilometers from Chicago.

He was only in his senior year of high school, and Aunt Debbie was afraid he'd waste money, so he never had more than a hundred dollars in his pocket.

Most importantly, the Global Guardians headquarters is not a public restroom. It's impossible for someone without authorization to enter casually. He heard it's equipped with a certain amount of heavy automatic defense systems.

Now, with only one day left, there's definitely no time for him to find a powerful Superhero corpse.

But fortunately, there is a solution.

Drawing the curtains, Russell locked his bedroom door and teleported himself.

He instantly vanished from the spot.

He reappeared in another universe.

——The Boys' universe.

Stars twinkled and the city was noisy. It was also night here.

The plot had also just begun.

Russell had already scouted the area over the past two days, figuring out the current timeline and some other things.

The Boys is also a world where Superheroes exist.

But they are not all embodiments of justice. Instead, most are selfish, cruel, and corrupt. Their abilities originate from a special drug called Compound V, controlled by a giant corporation called Vought International, and are packaged as celebrities and commodities to earn money.

"Vought International's main promotion, The Seven, is also a knock-off Justice League hero team, each with their own abilities."

He planned to first acquire the ability of Translucent from The Seven, who has strong skin defense, and then use this as leverage to acquire the ability of A-Train, whose running speed is supersonic.

A-Train's strength is at least dozens of tons, and his speed is as fast as sound, enough to clear all obstacles for him to enter the Global Guardians headquarters in half a day!

"In one day, Russell Hanson will become the most powerful Earthling in the Invincible world!"

Russell set a small goal.

He felt the hood he had prepared in his pocket, monitoring the video store across the street where the protagonist, Hughie, worked.

Soon, Translucent would appear to beat up Hughie, and that's when he would make his appearance.

Inside the video store, Hughie was absentmindedly wiping the counter.

Not long ago, his girlfriend Robin was run over by A-Train on the street and turned into a pulp.

Vought International even wanted to pay him forty-five thousand dollars to change his story and say that his girlfriend was wandering in the middle of the road, obstructing A-Train's pursuit of a criminal, and was accidentally hit and killed by A-Train.

While Hughie was angry, a man claiming to be a federal agent approached him to seek revenge on Vought International together.

Working together, they used the opportunity of pretending to agree to a non-disclosure contract to install a listening device in The Seven's conference room.

However, that bastard named Billy just wanted to use him and abandoned him after achieving his goal.

"I really am useless, I can't do anything."

The self-pitying Hughie didn't know that before he installed the listening device, he was discovered by Translucent, who liked to wander around buildings invisible and naked.

Ding-a-ling—

The door opened, letting in a blast of cold air.

He reflexively looked up, a professional smile on his lips: "Welcome, are you looking for any mov—"

His words stopped abruptly.

The doorway was empty.

"Wind?" He frowned, about to close the door—

Tap.

A button-sized metal object was casually thrown onto the counter, rolled twice, and stopped in front of him.

Hughie froze, his pupils suddenly constricting.

A listening device.

He recognized this thing—after all, just a few hours ago, he had personally stuck it under The Seven's conference table.

"I saw your little trick."

The air in front of him suddenly distorted for a moment, and a fierce, low voice sounded.

There seemed to be an invisible person in front of him. A great force came, and Hughie was pushed back sharply, his back hitting a shelf, and several DVDs clattered to the floor.

"Trans... Translucent?" He widened his eyes in horror, unable to not realize what was happening.

"Who sent you!" A hand grabbed his collar, Translucent demanded fiercely, "The FBI? The military? Or some competitor of the company who doesn't know their place?"

"I... I don't know what you're talking about!" Hughie's voice was distorted by fear.

"Ha!" Translucent sneered and punched him in the abdomen. Hughie groaned and curled up, cold sweat instantly soaking his shirt.

"Last question—who is it?"

The invisible person who was interrogating him didn't notice that outside the glass showcase, a tall figure in a hoodie crossed the zebra crossing, a crowbar sliding out of his sleeve, and strode towards the video store.

"Still not talking..." Hughie's collar was suddenly grabbed by an invisible force, and he was lifted into the air and slammed heavily onto the counter.

Crash!

Glass shards flew. Hughie crashed into the broken counter, his back feeling as if it were broken, in extreme pain. The invisible person was about to continue interrogating him with punches and kicks.

Bang!!

The invisible person was hit hard on the head by the sudden crowbar attack and sent flying.

Russell's crowbar strike was powerful. If it were a normal person, their skull might have been shattered, but the invisible person didn't even have a scratch.

It felt like hitting tough sheet metal.

After swinging a bat-like strike.

Russell threw a plastic bag of chili powder, hitting the invisible person in the face.

"Who the hell are you?" Suddenly attacked, the burning sensation made it impossible for him to open his eyes. Translucent's nose and eyes streamed with tears, and the figures he saw in front of him were blurry and shaking, "His accomplice?"

Hughie never expected someone to save him.

Seeing Translucent hitting someone, wouldn't a normal person think it was a Superhero fighting a thug?

A plastic bag of chili powder disabled Translucent's invisibility. Russell walked up without any nonsense, grabbed Translucent's hair with one hand, and dragged him to the corner.

The invisible person, whose strength in the plot could go back and forth with the 'Butcher' who had normal human strength, how could he resist strength like an Olympic weightlifting champion?

"Let go of me, are you a supe?

How dare you attack me, attack a member of the great Seven?"

The invisible person swung his fists wildly, which were harmless to Russell. He glanced indifferently at Translucent, who was being grabbed by the hair, with disdain.

The invisible person was dragged to the corner like a little girl who had encountered a thug, unable to do anything.

"Mmm... Mmm..."

Russell yanked off the thick power cord from the wall outlet and stuffed it into the invisible person's mouth.

Sizzle. Electric sparks flew. Translucent's skin was made of carbon super-nanomaterial, which is extremely conductive. The high-voltage current instantly shocked him into unconsciousness.

Translucent was defeated.

The condition for copying the template was met.
