Chapter 29 - Don’t you know my abilities?

Damien Darkblood was found by Ciscel and asked to investigate the Global Guardians tragedy. He eventually discovered the true culprit was Omni-Man and, ignoring advice, wanted to expose him.

Ciscel, having confirmed his terrible suspicion, feared Omni-Man's rage if the matter was exposed. He quickly used a ritual to banish the Demon Detective back to hell.

"This is the benefit of power.

Even after slaughtering a meritorious team of heroes, others dare not act. Instead, they hold onto a sliver of fantasy, hoping that as long as they don't actively expose You, You will continue to masquerade and protect Earth."

Russell sighed inwardly.

However, what Ciscel did was unfortunately too late. Omni-Man had sensed he might be suspected since Damien Darkblood appeared beside him and was preparing to act.

Omni-Man frowned, looking at the Demon Detective's figure by the woods. Ciscel seemed to walk over at that moment.

"Nolan, what are You looking at?"

"Nothing?" Omni-Man shook his head.

"Russell, You are young and strong, brave and decisive. You have saved us from the Flaxen multiple times, showing all the traits of a Superheroes team leader..."

After chatting with Omni-Man for a bit, Ciscel looked at Russell and, with an elder's tone, smiled and sincerely invited him.

"Are You interested in working under me? If possible, I want You to rebuild the Global Guardians. You can select all the members, and the new Global Guardians will be entirely managed by You.

I will only seek You and Your team when the entire World faces a threat. How about it?"

Some passing Superheroes heard this and stopped slowly in disbelief, looking over.

This young Superhero, Infinitoid - a young man who debuted just a few days ago - the Global Defense Agency Director actually chose him to be the next Captain of the Global Guardians.

No way, who was the previous Global Guardians Captain? That was Immortal, the strongest Superhero below Omni-Man, experienced with an unparalleled career as a Superhero.

And this youngster probably hasn't even grown all his hair yet, right?

Some Superheroes were so jealous their eyes were almost red.

"Let's forget it. Being a Captain requires mediating conflicts and emotions among teammates. I probably can't do that kind of thing."

But then something even more astonishing happened. Russell casually rejected Ciscel's invitation.

His tone was as casual as if he were just refusing the position of study group leader appointed by a school teacher.

"Re... rejected?!"

"That's the Global Guardians Captain!

The pinnacle position for Superheroes globally."

"Are You serious?!"

A group of Superheroes looked at each other.

Has this World changed too fast?

Not even the Global Guardians Captain position is wanted anymore?!

"Ciscel, what did I say?"

Debbie returned after seeing her best friend into the car and saw Ciscel trying to trick Russell into working under him. She pulled Russell behind her and glared at Ciscel.

As if Ciscel was a cunning and despicable fox trying to steal chicks.

"Don't get excited, Debbie, I was just trying to invite him." Ciscel raised his hands and backed away, surrendering.

"Russell, as long as You wish, there will always be a leading position for You in the Global Guardians." As he backed away, he gave Russell a sincere look.

Russell watched Ciscel's retreating figure.

Has he already made the worst-case plan and is preparing to recruit me, a pure-blooded Earthling, to deal with Omni-Man in the future?

"Being a leader is often an empty title. From the moment You open Your eyes, You have to care about the petty emotions, minor conflicts, and awkwardness of Your subordinates. You have to be like a busybody mother and also lubricate the entire team like oil."

He wasn't interested in that.

...

The Boys World.

At two in the morning, the wet ground of the rainy back alley reflected the hotel sign's neon lights, and the Shadows of three drunken young people swayed.

The Black boy, Andre, walked in front, deliberately making a loud noise as his casual leather shoes crunched over broken glass bottles. "I say—" he drew out the sound and turned, "cultural class tests are really more headache-inducing than doing drugs."

He smiled and looked at the two trailing behind, his gaze lingering for half a second longer on the blonde girl's somewhat pretty face. But unfortunately, the two in the ambiguous mood behind seemed not to have heard him at all.

"You drank a lot, as if You've never been to a bar before. Is Your family strict?"

The White boy, Luke, with a charming smile, was supporting the slightly stumbling Kate.

"Careful, Your heel is caught in the drain."

"Thanks, Luke, You're such a gentleman..."

Kate giggled and tossed her blonde hair to the side, seemingly a bit tipsy, completely unconcerned that her waist was being supported by the boy.

"Hey, did You guys hear what I said?"

Andre kicked away a soda can by his foot. The sound of the aluminum can hitting the fire escape startled a wild cat lying on the trash can. The green-eyed wild cat meowed unhappily and ran away.

"Damn school rules," he changed the subject. "Let's hurry. Being late for morning class tomorrow will cost us points."

"I heard the security in this area is a bit messy. Let's not run into some muggers and waste time."

"What, Andre, as an outstanding freshman at Godolkin University, the son of the Superhero Polarity, are You still worried about not being able to beat petty thieves?" Luke joked with his friend whom he hadn't known for long.

"Whether it's a knife or a gun, isn't manipulating metal what You're good at?"

"Don't worry, if a robber really jumps out, I'll protect You." After saying this, Luke looked down at the girl in his arms again and said softly, "I'll give that blind robber the most fashionable hairstyle."

Of course, he knew the girl in his arms was also a top-ranked supe seed among the freshmen and didn't need his protection at all.

Kate greatly enjoyed the tenderness in Luke's eyes as he looked at her. The two looked at each other, and their Shadows drew closer.

"Oh, really?"

But suddenly, an untimely voice sounded. A figure with hands in pockets and a smile on his lips slowly walked out from the Shadow ahead.

"Stop, this is a robbery."

"What are You robbing with?"

Andre looked him up and down in confusion. The young man who suddenly appeared seemed a bit younger than them, with his hands casually in his pockets, not even carrying a knife.

"Let me do it."

Regardless of what he was using to rob, Luke, slightly annoyed at being interrupted, couldn't help but step forward wanting to show off in front of the girl. Flames ignited in his fists.

He originally thought the unusual scene would make the young man in front of him realize he had provoked a supe and immediately be scared shitless, apologize, and leave.

Who knew that the next second, that figure closed in like a teleport, easily knocked down Andre with a hand chop, and slowly looked at him.

"Don't rush—it's Your turn!"

"You're a supe too? Wait, You're also a Godolkin University freshman like us, here to challenge our rankings?" Luke was surprised, thinking he had guessed the truth.

"You're thinking too much. I'm just a passerby who couldn't stand seeing people flaunting their affection in the street, so I'm giving You a lesson."

Although Luke was already fully alert, Russell teleported in front of him. Before his eyes could even process it, he was easily grabbed by the neck and lifted with one hand.

"You... Don't You know my ability? How dare You touch my body?"

The hand on his neck was so strong it almost suffocated him. Luke's face turned red from being choked, yet he still thought victory was within his grasp, a smirk on his lips.

The next second, flames surged all over his body. The fierce Firelight illuminated the dark alley, and the terrifying high temperature evaporated the standing Water on the ground, producing steam.
