Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 The Fragmented Life of a Fox

Ansheng continued wolfing down his food, paying no attention to the sudden appearance of text in his mind.

He had gotten used to these sudden textual appearances in his mind by now.

When he first crossed over to the Fox Cave, he realized that he was somewhat different from ordinary foxes.

His mind would occasionally sprout some textual information, usually listing a [Requestor's Name] and a [Wish Fulfilled] criteria together.

If Ansheng could help people fulfill their wishes, he would gain some strange 'Wish Power'.

What the Wish Power is useful for, Ansheng wasn't clear, he only knew it could be added to his body or his mind.

If added to the body, it would enhance his physique and make his rear feel itchy.

If added to his mind, Ansheng would feel exceptionally lucid.

Ansheng even recalled his mother's disdainful look at him when he was born in his past life.

Once, as a novel reader, Ansheng read about 'wishes' and 'Wish Power' and instantly felt he might have become an Almighty Mountain God of the wilderness.

This so-called Wish Power might just be a different kind of incense power.

When he first thought about this, Ansheng was terrified; he could accept time travel, but he certainly didn't want to go to any chaotic era where gods and demons roamed rampant.

Reincarnating as a fox was already unlucky enough, crossing over to a demon-infested world would only add to his originally precarious life!

Luckily, after dawdling in the forest for three months and finally spotting a helicopter with a red cross sign flying overhead,

Ansheng abandoned his original intention of delving deep into cultivation and quickly exited the forest, intending to make a career in the thriving world of the living.

.......

"Burp——"

After eating and drinking to his heart's content, Ansheng jumped onto the sofa without hesitation, eagerly grabbing the tablet used for online classes.

He planned to quickly log into his new penguin account and hang a couple of suns there.

When he first got the tablet, Ansheng tried logging into all his social accounts from his past life,

but unfortunately, he couldn't access any of them.

Even after registering a new penguin account, Ansheng attempted to add his former life's penguin account.

However, the account's homepage was filled with spam accounts, and the penguin space was entirely pictures that would get banned permanently once exposed.

He also checked the cloud storage, and although the account existed, its contents didn't match.

Ansheng felt a deep sadness reflecting on this.

If he could access his past accounts, his fox life could be considered perfect.

That's because, in his past life, Ansheng had three bank cards.

One was a public account, one for daily use, and another term deposit card with online banking hidden in a secret compartment of his desk.

Tens of thousands in savings, he had no idea which bastard would benefit from his death.

"If I'd known I'd become a fox, I wouldn't have bought a car, house, or insurance. I should've stashed it all in fixed deposits..."

"I should have just put all the money into that 'Spend One Get One Free' event at Foot Bath City, and doubled my wealth with ease...."

Swiping onto the music notes, where the cyber Buddha performed a wild dance routine, Ansheng nostalgically recalled his past life's unspent savings, feeling a sting in his chest.

"Boohoo——"

Ansheng lay on the chair, making a small sound after closing the cyber Buddha stream, browsing through fox mischief videos watched by his poop scooper recently.

He planned to study some poses thoroughly to dazzle Yu Xueqing's eyes, aiming to secure an experience card for a permanent cushy life.

Ansheng felt no shame in mooching off like a fox; in fact, he found it quite enjoyable.

This was a novel experience he never had as a human in his past life.

Of course, if he had to eat dog food, Ansheng would politely decline with a raised hand.

Just like a succubus won't eat food wrapped in a fertility-denying bag, a dignified male fox spirit naturally won't eat sealed bag dog food.

"Okay, today's video viewing stops here; let's see if there's anyone to pamper today!"

Ansheng deleted the browsing history, glanced at the penguin account, and seeing no spicy images in the group chat, was disappointed but cleared the login records of the penguin account.

Nowadays, group members are less impressive than before, always talking about ways to make money without any vision.

If they really wanted to make money, couldn't they learn something from me?

His fluffy fox tail stood straight up, brushing against the legs of a lady in black stockings, playing a round of real-life arhat.

Ansheng plugged the charging cable into the tablet, leaped from the window, squeezed out of the stainless-steel security bars, and arrived in the bare courtyard of the self-built house.

Having been burned out by hard work in his past life, now reincarnated as a fox, Ansheng planned to relax for a while before doing anything.

Effort was impossible for him, as he had no idea who enjoyed the wealth he had fought for in his past life.

But Ansheng was deeply interested in 'Wish Power'.

Who knows, if he piled on enough, he might really achieve immortality in the future and return to the hustle and bustle of the city!

Though being the second fox in Xia Country is fine, not having an ID card and the language barrier is quite inconvenient.

"Today's Ah Qing's wish is to watch the house, block the dog hole, and fix the door lock...."

Ansheng held his breath and focused, immersing his consciousness into his mind, where a list appeared.

On the list were numerous [Wishes].

However, most wishes were pretty bizarre.

For example, a primary school kid on the list wished to blow up the Youth Palace, so he wouldn't have to go there for PE classes every day.

Another flower-waving person in town spoke to Mazu today, hoped to ride a big flight to sea, and then wished Ansheng that they could seize territory and plant vegetables in Yingjiang Country.

Holy crap, plant vegetables? More like not planting vegetables, I'm too lazy to expose you!

Ansheng ignored those bizarre wishes; he was enjoying good food and drink in Changxi Town.

He didn't want to sail overseas just for one small wish, shouldering a Chicago typewriter at night in a bloody street battle with a Buddhist Berley.

I, a dignified second fox of Xia Country, shouldn't be involved in Yingjiang Country turf wars, right?

Not just second foxes, even first brother pandas couldn't withstand 7.62mm ammunition.

Xia Country's wildlife protection doesn't work in Yingjiang Country!

Besides bizarre wishes, more people were actually pleading with 'Master Fox' for romance.

Yet, Ansheng was numb from seeing so many foxes.

Still asking for romance? In my past life, I had a car and house but remained single, and in this life, I even lost my ID!

Wishing for romance to a two-life single dog, I could say you're dreaming big.

"The door lock is broken, let me see what's up!"

Ansheng stood on his hind legs in front of the garden gate, prying open the ajar iron door, and brought out a wicker chair from the courtyard, the whole fox jumped on it to examine the lock.

"Hmm..... looks like the lock cylinder doesn't rebound? Maybe it's not been used for a long time?"

"Looks like Yu Xueqing is back in the old house studying tea cultivation during summer vacation, normally they live in the city."

After fiddling with the mechanical door lock for a bit, Ansheng figured out what was wrong with the lock, as mechanical structures usually aren't easily broken.

Issues like these generally need lubrication and rust removal, but if they're truly broken, there's no salvaging them.

"But where am I, a fox, supposed to find a bottle of W40 to spray it with?"

Ansheng looked at the lock, full of grievances.

In this big house, aside from Yu Xueqing's change of clothes and an electric vehicle, there was nothing else.

There wasn't even a fridge.

If not for Yu Xueqing preparing food for him, the house might not even have a gas cylinder.

For Yu Xueqing, two meals a day were mostly settled at the neighboring villager's fast food shop.

Ten bucks for two proteins and two vegetables, delicious and affordable.

Just as Ansheng planned to borrow some repair tools from the neighbor,

a middle-aged man with a straw hat faced him from across the asphalt road outside the self-built house, with a face full of black lines.

Noticing the man, Ansheng was amused, lifted his chin, and greeted him.

"Boohoo——"

Village Chief of Changxi Village, Chen Fengshui: "....."
