The atmosphere was eerie and heavy, with dull yellow lights casting flickering shadows on the walls.
Plainclothes politician Gustav looked around at all the young officers present, gritting his teeth:
"We must get the merchant and his talents in our hands. I am sure they are in Paris, so we have to go there!"
A young officer looked troubled and spoke up: "We've tried going to Paris before, and we lost half of our team in the process!"
"What about that tunnel? That's where he came from."
"No use. We need some specialized equipment to open that armored door," another officer answered helplessly.
"Nonsense!" Gustav slammed the table forcefully, shouting in anger, "There must be a way to open it."
"We've studied all the mechanisms; it can only be opened from the other side—and possibly only once. We even used explosives, but it's too sturdy..."
"Damn it! But the merchant must bring food over here, right?"
