Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Preparing for the Dungeon Run

A glint of cold light, like stars shining, brought forth blossoms of blood.

Almost in an instant, five small Dalā Hū were either stabbed through the forehead, neck, or chest by the Riding Spear, creating holes from which blood gushed.

1V7, instant kill!

Hovering above the rat beast's corpse, Mo Jin slowly turned his head.

And at this moment, Mo Qingchen was equally astonished.

He knew Mo Jin had become much stronger after evolving into a Great Needle Bee, but instantly killing seven rat beasts was still a surprise.

He recalled that when it was still a Unihorn Insect, it could only manage to take down five rat beasts after practical training, and that too with some injuries.

Yet now, Mo Jin gave him the impression of having easily, with extreme ease, dispatched seven rat beasts.

"Very well, let's continue."

Mo Qingchen stepped forward to check the bodies of the rat beasts.

Three of them were hit directly in the head, killed instantly, while the other four were severely injured and eventually poisoned by the venom carried on Mo Jin's Riding Spear and tail sting.

At the same time, he discovered a problem.

The seven rat beasts all had deadly poison remaining in their bodies, making them worthless for resale!

The slaughterhouse purchasing low-level exotic beast corpses clearly stated they would not accept bodies with residual toxins inside.

"Jin Jin, can you control the venom inside and not let it taint the Riding Spear?"

Without resale value in the rat beasts' bodies, how else could they earn money by hunting wild?

"Master, I'll try my best."

Mo Jin looked at the two Riding Spears and then said, uncertainly.

Fed by Mo Qingchen, the poison inside it was extremely potent, one could say the appearance of the Fierce Poison talent was coaxed out by the feeding.

Trying to control the toxins within its body was not easy at all, but Mo Jin wanted to give it a try.

It was well aware of the family's financial situation.

Mo Qingchen had nearly spent all the Dragon Coins he earned on Mo Jin's nourishment to enhance its talent.

Now that it had successfully evolved into a Great Needle Bee, it must earn back the Dragon Coins spent on itself, to help improve its master's life.

Therefore, it had to control the toxins within, preventing exotics beast corpses from retaining deadly poison, otherwise they couldn't be sold for money!

As such, Mo Jin started trying to control the toxins within, ensuring that when it attacked with the Riding Spear, it wouldn't cause poisonous damage.

However, progress was not very smooth. Although it could freely control the poison energy inside, the omnipresent Fierce Poison was not easy to manipulate.

Time slipped by quietly amid various training sessions.

Having realized that Mo Jin's combat capabilities couldn't be properly tested in the sewers, Mo Qingchen decisively switched to hunting wild mode.

Once the three Space Backpacks were filled with rat beast corpses, the man and insect returned home immediately.

As water sprayed onto Mo Jin from the showerhead, Mo Qingchen, holding shower gel and a brush, began to wash off the sewer grime clinging to its body.

While bathing Mo Jin, Mo Qingchen spoke.

"Jin Jin, let's tackle a dungeon tomorrow."

Within White Crane City, under official Empire control, there are more than ten dungeons, each stationed by military garrisons.

To enter, one must either have an official status or pay for a ticket.

A Basic dungeon ticket costs between 500,000 to 1 million Dragon Coins.

The higher the dungeon's tier, the more expensive the ticket.

Meanwhile, private dungeons controlled by great families, tycoons, although offering cheaper tickets, had more demanding conditions.

For they would take a share of the items you exchanged using Abyssal Currency in the dungeon!

"Master, is it difficult to tackle a dungeon?"

While enjoying being bathed by his master, Mo Jin asked curiously.

"For us right now, it's a bit challenging, but with caution, a Tier One dungeon should pose no danger."

In a Tier One dungeon, the monsters' baseline strength corresponds to Tier One capacity, meaning at the very least, they are Level 10.

Monster strength in the dungeon can go as high as Tier Two peak, which corresponds to Level 29.

Mo Qingchen wanted to venture into a dungeon because Mo Jin, now requiring significantly more experience points to level up, Level 15 required 6000 experience points to reach Level 16.

The non-tiered sewer rat beasts, even at Level 9, only awarded 9 experience points when killed.

Grinding rat beasts to accumulate enough experience for level up would take an inordinate amount of time.

However, the monsters in the dungeon offered more experience and existed in higher densities.

The nobles, families, and tycoon heirs, upon awakening, could contract higher-talent Guardian Beasts, receive personal training, and even have companions escort them to dungeons for monster grinding and level up.

Of course, their treatment certainly didn't end there. Many secret documents sealed by the authorities could be accessed through certain methods by these nobles, families, and tycoons.

As such, the odds of them becoming Basic Beastmasters by completing the beginner's trial dungeon were exceptionally high.

A night passed without words.

The next morning, after processing the rat beast corpses at the slaughterhouse, Mo Qingchen took the bus to South City Wall in White Crane City.

With the advent of the Beast Taming Era and the emergence of various Abyssal Rifts and Abyssal Dungeons, countless monsters appeared.

These monsters would band together to attack human cities.

To block the monster tides, each city and town in the Divine Xia Empire built walls, encircling the entire city.

The dungeons appearing within the city were heavily guarded to prevent monsters from escaping.

Last night, Mo Qingchen viewed White Crane City's official stationed dungeon locations via cellphone, finding the 'Goblin Forest', a Tier One dungeon, near South City Wall.

The bus stopped intermittently and soon left the South City downtown area, traversing through fields of paddies.

During the Beast Taming Era, while constructing city walls for major cities, a large tract of land enclosing the periphery was reserved for harvesting high-yield crops.

Due to areas sparsely populated, deep within the wilderness, and rivers and reservoirs, hiding numerous exotic beasts made it perilous for agricultural clearing activities.

To ensure adequate food supplies, the establishment of city walls encompassed significant lands, the majority of which were turned into farmland.

The bus moved unimpeded and arrived at the southern city wall of White Crane City a quarter of an hour later.

Near the Abyssal Dungeon, a military base was set up against the city wall, showcasing various military weapons, notably anti-aircraft guns, and Gatling guns could be seen everywhere along the city wall.

With the advent of the Beast Taming Era, while major weapons like the Nuclear Peace Envoy were rendered ineffective by the Abyssal Rules, other hot weapons could still be used.

However, hot weapons only coped with 0-3 tier exotic beasts, as 4-tiered exotic beasts would not fear such damages.

Outside the military base was a bustling market, though not densely packed, it was still crowded.

Most present were Apprentice Beastmasters from various universities.
