Jayvaughn's voice returned, strained but with a clear effort to regain control. "Baby, please tell me where you are. You know you're still injured," he pleaded.
"I promise I won't get angry at you, even though you left home and also put off your phone, which made me worried and angry. But if you tell me where you are, I will stop being angry."
Axel became momentarily speechless. He registered that Jayvaughn had clearly said he would stop being angry, but he was still conveniently listing all the things that made him angry.
Axel decided honesty was the fastest route to safety. "Baby, I almost died today," he admitted, his voice dropping slightly. "On my way to your company, two cars blocked my cab driver on the way, and they both came outside their car carrying guns. I and the cab driver only survived because we jumped out of the car."
