The entire area had been jammed by Pax's signal interference, so Amir, finally able to relax, slept deeply.

He was truly exhausted this time, and he slept for a long while.

When he opened his eyes again, it was already pitch black outside. Still, someone had turned on the lights, and the dropship hovered in the clearing.

"Amir, over here!" Guli Gina had started a fire with her clansmen and was cooking something unknown in a pot.

Amir walked over and took a bowl of porridge that Guli Gina handed him.

It was a stew made of various vegetables and meats. As Amir looked at the ingredients, they felt increasingly familiar.

"Ahem," Rango coughed awkwardly from the side, "We saw you were asleep and didn't want to disturb you… so we helped ourselves to your ship's supplies."

"Haha." Amir didn't mind and sat down to eat with them.

"I just spoke with Veronica. She's still busy," Rango said.

"Did you tell Little Jay? Or did he find out you were missing himself? Otherwise, you'd really be screwed," Amir replied.

"I told him."

At that moment, a burly red-skinned man with curved horns walked over. "Hey, kid! Name's Wulf. Thanks a ton—thought I was done for." After a pause, he added, "Also, solid flying, man."

"Hey! That's not what you said when you stumbled off the ship and threw up!" Kieran shouted from the side.

"Haha, there were just too many people and not enough seatbelts." Amir laughed.

They chatted a while longer about their experiences. Amir then remembered Ahsoka had something she wanted to talk to him about.

"Where's Ahsoka?" he asked Guli Gina.

"We all took a rest earlier. She stood guard while we slept, so she rested later. Still not awake."

"Then I won't bother her."

Amir and Guli Gina chatted more about his visions, including what he had felt during his most recent successful attempt.

"You're a natural. It took me until I was eight to succeed—and I started training at five."

"Maybe I've just got a few more years on me."

At that moment, Han Solo came jogging out of the jungle, holding a bizarre creature that looked like a mutated rabbit. His grin was as wide as a monkey's.

The accompanying Wookiee was also carrying prey.

Wookiees, born on Kashyyyk with its towering trees and deadly predators, were natural-born hunters.

"You're awake, Amir? Look what I caught!" Han shouted excitedly.

"Raaaargh!!"

"Cut the crap! I fired the last shot!" Han shot back in Shyriiwook—he knew a little.

With so many people to feed and no nearby settlements, Amir's stockpiled food wouldn't suffice. They had to hunt.

Chewbacca had volunteered immediately. Feeling left out, Han had tagged along.

"No worries—I got this." Wulf stepped up. This beefy guy was apparently a chef.

He took the prey and began cleaning it in the woods nearby.

"Wulf helped me a lot at the mines," Rango added. "He looks rough, but he's a really meticulous guy."

"So how'd you guys end up captured in the first place?" Amir asked curiously.

"We found a hidden path to the slavers' camp and walked right in like idiots. Sure enough, it was an ambush. Chewbacca and I got surrounded." Rango recalled with a sigh.

"Be more careful next time. Don't underestimate people who live on the edge of a blade," Amir warned.

"What about you? Find anything on Tatooine?"

"Found myself a mentor. Been training in… you know, the Force."

"I saw you use that strange power a few times."

"Ha, you're the only one who noticed?"

"Veronica knows too. She just never mentioned it," Rango said thoughtfully.

"Damn," Amir sighed. So much for subtlety. Good thing Little Jay's cluelessness was at least a source of comfort.

"What's your plan now?" Amir asked.

"I'm going to keep investigating. We've got more people to rescue."

"Whatever you do, remember to contact us first if things get hairy," Amir said suddenly, "Also, once I'm back on Coruscant, I'm installing a tracking chip in your skull."

"That's really not necessary," Rango said nervously. "A regular commlink will do. I promise it won't break this time."

"Alright. Just don't forget to pay me back," Amir grinned and patted him on the shoulder.

"It's already on your ship," Rango suddenly said.

"What?!"

"..."

"Ten thousand credits?"

"...More or less. Chewbacca swiped some refined ore from the mines."

"Wow... dumb luck pays off sometimes."

Guli Gina, finishing her meal, said, "Amir, we're planning to take them back to their homeland first."

"Adrian Prime, right?" Amir remembered she'd mentioned it before. He had even looked it up on a map.

"Yes. Ahsoka said the Empire has no forces stationed there anymore."

"That's true. We'll drop them off there before heading out with Rango to rescue the others." Ahsoka had appeared behind him without him noticing.

"You're awake?"

"Yeah. Come with me, Amir. I want to show you something."

At her words, Amir stood up and followed her onto the Traveler.

She inserted a data chip into the ship's holo-projector. A star sector lit up in the center of the hall.

Amir turned off the lights to make the projection clearer and stepped forward.

"Here." Ahsoka zoomed in on a planet within the star sector.

"What's this?"

"A segment from the holorecorder we recovered," Ahsoka replied.

"We found tons of vital resources thanks to that recorder. But beyond that, it contained information on both the Jedi and the Sith." She pointed at the planet.

"Our pilot discovered an ancient ruin here while scouting for a base of operations. It might be a forgotten temple."

"Related to the Jedi and the Sith?"

"Yes. The Force is strong in those ruins. I sensed something… dangerous. Possibly linked to the Sith. I feel compelled to investigate."

The projection couldn't display the terrain in detail, but a towering mountain peak was visible.

"But I haven't found a way to access it yet," Ahsoka turned to Amir. "You know how busy our organization is—I can't dedicate more time to this. That's why I'd like you to explore it when you're free."

"I'll check it out."

"Thank you. The coordinates are stored on this chip. Let me know if you find anything. I'll join you then. No rush—go whenever you're ready."

She gave him a briefing on the planet and the surrounding ruins.

Leaving the chip with him, Ahsoka exited the Traveler.

"We're heading out," she said, gathering the camp. Another of their ships had just arrived, enough to carry all of Guli Gina's people.

Rango and Chewbacca would be going with them, since they'd be working together again soon.

"What about you?" Amir looked at Han Solo.

"Why would I go with them? I've got my own business."

"I'm not giving you a lift." Amir considered dumping him off with the Rebellion.

"Why not?! Think about it—you need a top-notch co-pilot." He spread his arms. "Or just drop me off somewhere civilized, lend me some credits—I'll get a ship of my own! I swear I'll pay you back double. I never break a promise!"

Still the same vagabond drifting through the galaxy. No way he'd abandon his selfish ways for the greater good.

"Get on the ship. But don't even think about a loan."

"Why not? It's an investment! I will earn it back."

"Fine. I'll introduce you to a bounty hunter. He's got a ship—and he's really easy to con. Better start spinning your best sob story now."

"I'm not a con artist! What bounty hunter? Is he really that gullible?"

After settling her people, Guli Gina walked over. "Thank you, Amir…"

"Don't mention it." Amir looked at the girl, younger than him. In his past life, a girl her age would still be cherished at home. Here, she was already struggling to survive in the galaxy—and standing strong against the Empire.

Just like Veronica and Rango. Forced to grow up too fast, but all the more resilient.

That thought left Amir a bit melancholic—but such was the tragedy of their times.

"Take care of your… people."

"I will!" she replied firmly, turning and walking away.

Ahsoka, standing by her ship, looked at Amir. "I'll be waiting for your message."

She hesitated a moment, then said, "May the Force be with you."

Amir smiled. "May the Force be with you."
