Chapter 60 - C060 : Expedition (3)

"It's going to hit Shurry!" A level 5 called out, about to run in and handle the situation.

Leon got out ahead of them and blocked their interference. "Don't react like that, everything is fine. Just watch."

Maxim was also rather relaxed, he could tell from a single glance of that look in Shurry's eyes, it wasn't over, not by a long shot.

Shurry twisted in mid air, his instincts kicked into over driver, then hyper drive, and just as the spell was about to make contact with Shurry… A plate of moon light appeared beneath his feet and another in the path of the spell, at an angle.

The spell looked like it had made contact, at first, but in the same instant people worried, the spell deflected and continued on to the intended target. Blowing the giant's head clean off his shoulders, sending the remaining spell careening into the wall, blowing up on contact.

Goliath fell to his knees, he had the ability to regenerate from many wounds, but this was the type that he would certainly not be able to properly recover from, goliath had been killed.

Shurry used a few more platforms to walk down from the air, like a makeshift staircase. His face was full of excitement, at his first monster rex kill. "That was fun! Super fun!"

"I'M SORRY!" Meteria shouted, shaking, cursing her own illness. I almost killed him, the only one who can help me recover from my illness.

Shurry tilted his head. "About what? The goliath dodged it right? And it's not like your magic is going to be stronger than the Leviathan's whips?"

"Huh?"

Leon chuckled, and then began to explain… "Oh come on, what's with the look on your faces?"

"Leon, you're telling me, this boy can basically fly through the air, and deflect level 9 physical strikes?" Maxim shook, getting way more excited than usual.

"Well, it's something like that. It's more like a 7, that far away from the freakish monster. But yeah, he deflected its attacks."

"Even so, that is one neat ability he's got there. That's it, it's decided, Shurry, do you want to fight the next monster rex on your own? It's a dragon in the large tree labyrinth. And while not really a monster rex, it's no less as powerful as the Goliath. There might be two of them this time around."

"A GOOD HARVEST!" Shurry replied with an excited smile.

"So… You're not mad?"

"About what? You still feel sick right? I can smell it." Shurry asked, confused as he could smell the illness from Meteria. "No one can expect an ill person to do as well as a healthy person."

"Huh? That's right, but-"

"Now then time to harvest-"

"All done with the harvest. Seriously good job you three, the materials were all really good. They'll sell for quite a bit."

"Yep, and this magic crystal is in really good shape. I almost want to find a way to bring it up to the guild to sell it. But, it's far too big for something like that."

Shurry looked at the place where the Goliath's corpse had once been, and now all that was left were a small pile of materials, and crystal twice as tall as a human, and 3 times as wide as a dwarf.

Shurry jumped on the crystal with a big smile, Luna appeared on his head, and he activated his magic skill, Spirit Evolve. The air in the room changed right away, as the overflowing magic power coming from the crystal began to course into Shurry's body, converted and refined into a more pure form, and then into Luna.

As the process continued, the crystal gradually disappeared. The feeling Luna gave off grew stronger and more mysterious. In the end though, the process ended in a matter of minutes. When the Crystal had reached a regular size similar to the minotaurs.

"Huh? Don't you want the whole thing?"

"Well, wouldn't it be funny to see the person's face at the exchange when they see it?" Shurry giggled. "Also I think Luna fell asleep, she's processing the change herself now."

"Oh, well, alright then."

Maxim looked around, and then went straight faced. "Alright, let's continue on, and set up camp while we await the second group's arrival."

…

The 18th floor, a large open space, The party found their way to the usual spot they chose to set up camp in the woods. Given that they were the forward group, they didn't have much in the way of provisions, nor camping equipment. So it basically amounted to a fire, and felled trees to sit on.

"Once Empress arrives with the other group, I'd like for you to try your magic on those Alfia & Meteria again." Maxim said, poking the fire, though his words were directed towards Shurry.

"I can do that, but, uhm, can we eat something?" Shurry asked, rubbing his belly.

"I guess moving the way we did would make you hungry. Especially a growing boy." Maxim chuckled, and then smirked. "You should be fine on your own in the forest, at least when it comes to monsters. But be careful of people, there are some seriously vile people out there- You problem could smell them from quite far away though… Hurry back here if you encounter some of those people."

Shurry, confused, tilted his head again, tail passing side to side lightly. "The forest? Hmm, why there?"

Maxim smirked, taking a knee and patting Shurry's head, and spoke in a whisper. "Because, there's a fruit that grows in the forest here. It's one that Meteria really enjoys, it should cheer her up."

Shurry smiled, and beat his tail, then with cartoonish speed took off through the forest. Sounds of monsters' death cries soon filled the nearby area.

"Leon, that boy is really too pure. Even if the gods hadn't ordered him to not be a part of the future subjugation quests, I wouldn't have brought him."

"I should have told you sooner, but he's far stronger and faster than you've seen so far. When he joined the School District, he was fast enough to keep me on my toes. In fact I have several hundred more stat points now, because of him."

"Seriously? Just from training him? In that case, I might actually let him handle whatever he wants to." He looked over to see Meteria, and the pervy bunny boy going through the fight in their heads, and asking questions about it. While their seniors answered whatever was needed. "It is my sincere hope that these children don't have to suffer the weight of the world like I did."
