Chapter 66 - C066 : Expedition (9)

Elsewhere on the surface in Orario, a young dark elf was training like her life depended on it, all under the watchful gaze of her new familia's dungeon commander. She panted, profusely sweating to the point her clothes stuck to her body almost like they were glued on…

It hurts, but I don't care. I don't want to fall too far behind him. I've leveled up, but I still have minimal understanding of how to fight properly. Shurry's got a natural instinct of how to fight, I have to learn it.

The dungeon commander, folded his arms, leaned back, and bellowed with laughter. "You're really quite something there, Legi. At this rate I think we'll finish determining what comes most natural to you in about two more days or so." He chuckled, and relaxed. "For now though, I think it's best for you to go and take a bath. I'm sure the girls are already enjoying their long soaks. Go join them. We'll continue your training again tomorrow, what do you think about dual wielding short weapons?"

Legi's face sparkled with a similar intrigue that Shurry displays. "That means I've completed the single weapon courses! Woo Hoo!" And she went off, skipping as she excitedly made her way to the bath.

"How's she doing?"

"Ah, Lady Hathor, Legi is doing quite well. She's blown right on through the usual starting curriculum. Though, I get the feeling she's just one step away from finding her true calling."

"That's a relief. Let's do our level best to support these two."

The dungeon commander's brow raised with a curious look. "You don't mean…"

"I suspect there will be difficult, and trying times ahead of us. Consider it my Divine Intuition, or whatever you want. But all of you should get stronger. Much, much stronger."

"I see, in that case, my goddess, I'll reaffirm my vow to you once more. I swear to grow, and tutor my familia to the absolute best of my ability."

"Good, have everyone get used to harsh training. And train our staff in the art of combat. Even if they only achieve level 1 or 2, it's better than having nothing to rely on." After finishing her speech, she walked off, not bothering to wait for any response.

Bokhoir was left standing there, and let out a huge sigh as he lifted his head to face the sky. "This means that no matter what any of us do, we will still deal with the dangerous result of failure… Does this mean that… Those two will fail in the subjugation for some reason?" He wondered, murmuring to himself. "No, it's best not to think about it. Better to just get stronger, and as fast as possible… Gonna be working like our lives depend on it, aren't we?"

Back in the dungeon, on the 25th floor, Shurry was having a field day with all of the flying monsters. Occasionally he'd look over with a big smile and shout. "Look I caught a big birdy this time!" Other times, a giant monster fish would launch out of the waterfall at him and he would catch that prey too… "Hey lookie here! The biggest fish I've seen! Can we cook it!?"

All the while the Zeus and Hera familias couldn't but laugh as Shurry managed to make these monsters look like child's play… Literally & figuratively. They still continued pressing forward, with their members in the optimal formation to provide proper training, while ensuring nothing crazy would cause any casualties.

"Seriously, he's like a one child flying army."

"As expected of my species' Alpha." Hera's werewolf proudly declared, with her hands upon her hips. "Young but strong nonetheless."

"Oh quit it, we all know you wish you were at least 10 years closer in age."

"Well, of course. But, I'm not going to let it bother me. I've sworn myself to Lady Hera, so even if there was that potential, I wouldn't be allowed to."

"Keep telling yourself that, Lyca. Sometimes, you can really get a little too messed up in the head. Is he letting out some kind of pheromone or something?"

"No, he's just strong, very strong."

A little while later, everyone arrived at the boss room, this time around it was on the 27th floor. The group stopped, and began serious preparations, to ensure command structure and the likes. However, doing all of this Shurry started closing up a little.

"What's the matter, Shurry?" Lyca asked, picking him up to hug him.

"Why prepare for a fight they won't do?"

"What do you mean?"

"Well, I was promised this prey, and well, I wanna hunt it." Shurry pouted, poking his fingers together. He was currently in maximum cuteness.

Lyca smiled, and rubbed Shurry's head a little, then spoke in a voice that was clear enough for Maxim to hear. "Don't worry, Shurry, I'm sure Maxim wouldn't dare go back on his promise. He'll surely let you hunt this prey."

Maxim shivered slightly, and sighed. Damn, I hoped that he had forgotten about that when he was having so much fun earlier. "Alright, so long as you promise that we can interfere if it becomes too dangerous."

"Okay!!!" Shurry cheered, going from maximum shy cuteness, to maximum happy cuteness. And he jumped down out of Lyca's arms, surprising her that he was able to. "Time to hunt! Weee!!!" He then ran right into the boss room and began his fight.

Using his small child body, he could easily sneak right around and through small spaces, not that he needed to do so. Instead, he ran right for the giant monster, completely ignoring the terrain advantage.

The Amphisbaena, in total shock for a moment, began charging its anti magic breath. That's the head that cancels magic, right?

Shurry continued forward after seeing the red mist form, confirming his suspicions. His speed, even only using the level three stats he had, was exceptional, clearing a vast distance in the blink of an eye.

Amphisbaena roared out its anti magic mist attack, and as it approached Shurry, it looked like it was going to hit him right on.

The onlookers from the Zeus and Hera familias were watching with great interest, though the younger ones, specifically Alfia and Meteria were a slight bit worried as they watched the mist completely envelope Shurry.
