It wasn't long into the night when Shurry's past developed into a horrible nightmare, his leg kicked down, and out, it was as if he was trying to run away, then he began squirming, and whimpering.
The Amazoness had woken up after receiving a rather painful kick to the gut. "Ugh, that really hurt." She let go of Shurry, and gained a little distance before exiting the tent.
With her making noises, and the shaking that Shurry had been making, Meteria, groggily woke up, and cuddled up a little closer. "It's okay, little brother, big sister will make the bad dreams go away."
Shurry's squirming gradually slowed, and the whimpering eventually stopped, however, he was covered in a thick coat of sweat.
Outside the tent, one of the members on watch duty noticed that the Amazoness came out with a rather large bruise on her abdomen. "Oh my, Caotan, what happened in there?"
Caotan coughed up blood as she stumbled closer to the fire, where the watch duty members were, the on duty healer began treating her rather serious wound. "That adorable boy, I think he was having a nightmare." She answered, coughing up blood as she did. "He's got one hell of a kick, that's for sure. It's a good thing I'm level 6. I might have died if I was much lower."
"From a level 3 child?"
"Do you want me to recreate how powerful that kick was?" Caotan smirked at the level 4s who'd exclaimed in shock. "Besides, he's small, so the force was concentrated on a smaller area. Shit hurt just as much as the monsters in the white palace."
Just then, the sound of a rather angry stomach rumbled… It was so bad, that it sounded like a new rare species of monster. And shortly after, Shurry weakly stumbled out of the tent, holding his belly, pouting, tearing up.
"Hey there Shurry, what's wrong?" The healer lady asked in a sweet voice, paired with a smile, truly a terrifyingly effective combination.
"I'm hungry." Shurry answered, wiping his eyes, before crying.
Someone else came out of a tent, one that was rather odd for them to be in. "That sound wasn't a monster?" He said, with half donned armor.
"Maxim, I think it might be a good idea to get him some more food. If we don't, that sound might attract more monsters to the area." Caotan chuckled at the irony.
Maxim looked over to the side with a glance. "It's already too late for that. Who'd have thought that trying to teach him not to summon monsters like that, would then cause an uncontrolled summoning of them." He sighed, holding his hand over his face. "Alright Shurry, we'll get some food out, are you alright with that jerky?" He asked, then looked at the now empty place where Shurry had been standing. "Huh?" He looked up at Caotan, who'd pointed over showing a scene of Shurry ripping monsters apart, and devouring their flesh. "Perhaps… We should find other means of helping to control himself, that is, aside from banning his portion of food."
"Maxim, usually you're right about things, but I have to say, this one time, you really made the wrong call. Shurry is a growing boy, and has always had a voracious appetite. Even if it looks like a normal portion, remember, you even gave him less than Lyca. It's no wonder that boy had nightmares, nearly kicking me to death in his sleep." Caotan scolded, after seeing the chance to finally tell him off at least once.
"Ahaha! THE PREY CAME TO ME! MEAT!!!"
"Well, at least he seems to be enjoying himself out there. Still looks like I'm going to have to make up for this oversight of mine. Hmm, what would be a good apology, I can't let him hunt anymore of the Monster Rexs…"
"How about bringing one or two of those Mruit trees up to the surface for him? He'd probably forget the issue entirely after that." The healer giggled, remembering what Shurry had asked Maxim earlier that day.
"That is a great idea. Though, I don't know how easy that'll be. We'd have to rush all the way back up right after picking the trees to avoid them wilting on route."
"Ugh, still thinking about it? If we can't pull it off, who could?"
"Fine, on our way back, we will rest on this floor for a couple of days, to rest and then afterwards, we'll rush to the surface in a flash."
Shurry returned to the camp, in his wolf form, dragging a monster corpse over, one of those really big and meaty ones, it was a giant stag. "Can I use the fire to make it taste better?" He asked, wagging his tail.
"That's a rare monster on this floor, the Giant Stag. Its organs are used for all sorts of alchemy." One of the members skilled in getting every last part of a monster's useful parts smirked, and pulled out his special dagger, Shurry crouched in defense of his kill. "Don't worry little Shurry, I'll get all of those juicy meats off of this good thing for ya."
"Really!" His tail wagged again. "I want lots of meat."
"There's plenty here-"
"Hold on, I'll go drag the others over." Shurry said, and then he bounced away. Soon he came prancing back with another Giant Stag, he repeated this a few times more until there were a total of five of them waiting to be properly taken care of. "I think it might be enough?"
""YOU FOUND FIVE GIANT STAGS!?""
Shurry tilted his head in confusion. "I ate the sixth one. See, the stone is right there." He pointed with his tail, to reveal that there was indeed another magic stone.
"And you're still hungry-" Shurry's belly rumbled again. "I guess you are… Just how much are you used to eating?"
"More than we had last night. That was barely enough to make me happy." Shurry answered the rather important question from Maxim.
"Ugh, we're going to need to form a supply chain, splitting up our forces, just to keep him fed."
"I'm definitely hungrier tonight than I was last night."
"Was it because you served as a replacement so Lyca could transform?"
Shurry shrugged, and then started gnawing on one of the stag's bones while he waited for the meat to cook up, roasting over the open fire.
