Chapter 71 - C071 : Expedition (14)

With the smell of roasting meat wafting into the air, some members of the expedition rose from their slumber. Though, once they saw it wasn't time yet, they went back to sleep. Well, all except for Lyca, she watched as Shurry enjoyed the feast he'd hunted himself. He's a very interesting boy.

As if he could sense someone watching him, Shurry's tail wagged, and his head popped up, still in his wolf form he scanned the camp. He smiled, when he saw Lyca, and he pranced over with another bone, setting down before her, and nudging it closer.

"For me?" Lyca giggled, taking the bone, and even though she was in human form it didn't take much effort to dig into the bone and drink the marrow. Her eyes lit up once she realized what creature she was eating… "Is this a Great stag?" The shock in her eyes was evident. Even her tail started whisking side to side.

Shurry jumped around a little, like he had boundless energy. "Yep, I hunted it." He said as his tail didn't stop moving.

Lyca reached out and patted Shurry on the head, and smiled. "Thank you, it's delicious." Shurry pressed into her hand, clearly enjoying the head pat.

"Hey, Shurry, the first roast is ready for you."

Shurry's eyes lit up, he licked his chops and went to devour the roasted meat. Meanwhile Lyca's tent mates teased her until they all fell asleep again.

"Lyca, you got a kid now, or what?"

"Yeah Lyca, it seems you two have grown close."

"Fast too, right?"

"It's probably something we can't understand, something only werewolves could."

The morning came, and as everyone was getting ready for the day, they saw a rather happy boy, wolfing down a bunch of meat, and drinking bone marrow from what was clearly his prey.

"Wow, so much food…"

"You have no idea… This boy hunted down 6 Giant Stags in the woods last night."

""WHAT!?""

"Yep, I was so shocked when he came prancing up with the first, and then he did it more."

Lyca laughed. "As expected of him! Good job, Shurry!"

"Tehe!"

Maxim sighed, Empress giggled. And other members all had their own various chuckles. Though the fake rabbit boy thought he could sneak up and grab a piece of the roasted meat, when he reached for it his hand was slapped away by a furry tail.

"Awe come on, just a little piece…"

"No! I hunted it! My meat!"

"It's just a small piece."

The two growled at each other but Shurry's was naturally more fearsome. Maxim stepped in before it got dangerous. "Listen up, Shurry already gave us all of the other valuable materials from the Stags he hunted. So we don't have any claim to that meat." He said. "We also need to send a group back to the surface to off load all of the materials so they don't go bad. The group that goes will have a double responsibility to bring as many rations as they can get their hands on, to include jerky, and various breads. We will remain on this floor until that group returns. Who wants to do it?"

It wasn't long before a group had been selected, mostly made up of animal people due to their superior speed. Once they were prepared to leave, they said their farewells, and turned to leave but Shurry stopped them.

"Wait, here, meat makes you strong! Eat up before you go!" At first they were confused, but accepted the large chunks of meat gratefully.

""OH MY GOSH! SOOO GOOD!""

"I know right! It's super yummy." Shurry smiled, innocently licking his lips, as he went for another helping that just finished roasting.

…

The leftover bones were inspected by the smiths that came with them. After receiving permission to try forging something neat, for Shurry, out of these bones, they began their work.

The fake bunny boy was still pouting about not getting any of the meat. Wait, if I bring him enough of those Mruits, I might be able to get a taste! And so he ran off to try out his plan.

Alfia & Meteria were enjoying the sensation of moving around almost freely. Shurry's magic had worked wonders on the two of them. And now, the two of them were playing around in the fields of flowers.

Empress & Maxim were rarely if ever seen, and when they were, it was always together. Though, they had a certain smell coming from them that Shurry, along with the other animal people didn't miss.

After a couple of days passed, Shurry joined Alfia & Meteria in their flocking through the fields of flowers, and all with a new toy the smiths created for Shurry.

"This flying disk thing is quite fun." Meteria laughed, holding the flying disk in her hands… She was sitting on the transformed Shurry's back, while he excitedly pranced awaiting the toss. "And here!" She threw the flying disk as hard as she could.

Shurry, with Meteria on his back, took off running, leaping into the air, snagging the flying disk from the air, then pranced back over for the two sisters to switch places. This became their play for the remaining days till the other group returned from the surface.

Finally, after four days, the fake bunny boy decided to interrupt the other three from their play. "Shurry, stop hogging Meteria to yourself!" He blushed super hard.

Shurry's ears rose as he tilted his head. He sniffed the air as if to confirm something else. "But I'm not? I'm just playing with Big Sister?"

"I haven't had any time to get closer to her!"

"Do you mean… You like Big Sister?"

"Of course I do!!!!!"

Meteria was a little confused. Alfia knew this was going to happen sooner or later. And Shurry just laid down. The bunny boy just blushed harder, as he kept stealing glances at Meteria.

Finally Meteria spoke up… "You like me? Is that why you peek in the baths?" She scolded, crossing her arms, though she did feel a little embarrassed from the declaration. "Alraj, don't you know it's rude to peep on women in the bath?"

"It's a man's romance!" His head was smacked, hard.

"You philanderer! From now on, you'll only have eyes for my sister. No more peeking in the baths, and maybe I won't tell Lady Hera about this." Alfia scoffed.

"Thank you, Alfia!"

And that was the last full day before the other group returned to the same floor with a ton of resources.
