Chapter 79 - C079 : A Day With Hathor (2)

It didn't take long for Royman, as heavy set as was, to run out of the private room. "Get me the most up to date collection on quests, immediately." He ordered, sending the guild members behind the counter into a frenzy.

While they did that, Hathor calmly waited with Shurry happily munching down when she felt Ouranos' Gaze. "Ouranos, why don't you say something instead of just watching?" She said, causing shurry to pause his eating, confused.

"Mommy? Who's Ournoas?"

"Ouranos, he is the God supporting the guild, and he has some relationship with Zeus & Hera."

"Oh?" Shurry looked around, growing obviously more uncomfortable when he couldn't see this person. "Mommy, where is he? I can't sense him anywhere?" He started shaking, and then dove into Hathor's lap, shaking.

"He's in a location that would make it hard for you to smell him. Do you smell any smoke?"

"Uh huh, is he made of fire?"

"Pfft, no, but he is surrounded by four flaming brasiers. Any scent he'd give off would likely have become nearly nonexistent even to you."

"So he isn't hiding?"

"Nope, he's fine. You don't have to worry about him now." Hathor smiled, rubbing Shurry's ears. "He's important, using his prayer to limit the dungeon's malice. It's because of him that stronger monsters don't suddenly appear in the upper floors." She sighed. "Though he does have a rude tendency to look at people without their consent… And it seems he's retreated his sight for now."

The door to the private room opened again, and Royman entered, placing a rather large stack of binders on the table, cursing under his breath. "Alright, these are all of the quests requiring the aid of a healer… Though, it seems my staff has been terrible at going through all of them to remove the old quests that can no longer be done." He complained, hoping for some leniency.

"That sure is quite the stack. For now, just look at the ones within the last six months or so. I don't imagine the others are available."

"Well, there is one, it's much older, and it's been failed at least several dozen times."

"And the target is still alive? Ah, I know that one." Hathor looked down at Shurry, recalling the illness that he's actively treating in those twins… I guess he could give it a try, but, considering that the subject is a goddess, it might be best to wait until he's grown a bit stronger first. "Let's find some other ones first."

"Uh, right…" Royman began sifting through the pile of binders, locating the one with all of the impossible quests.

"Impossible? Quests?" Shurry spoke, curious upon reading the name.

"As it suggests, they are quests with such a high difficulty, or simply can't be done. People make them even knowing this, but they still hope that someone, might one day come along, to solve their problem." Royman answered, then had an idea. "Know what, it might be easier to just have you look through this one yourself." He said handing the binder over.

Shurry's eyes lit up as he read the first one, then turned confused. "This, is impossible?" He paused, got a solemn nod from Royman. "Mommy, can we just take this binder? My healing magic is more than able to handle something this easy. Even if it would be tiring… But with mommy with me, I'll be fine!" He spoke, excited at the thought of earning money from an untapped goldmine.

"Wait, can you really heal that kind of injury?" Royman asked, glancing at the quest.

"All it takes is a bit more magic. What's so hard about that?" Shurry questioned, leaving the Guild master completely floored.

"Alright, take whatever quests you'd like to do, and when you return, I'll make sure that the reward is properly taken care of."

Shurry smiled wide, and began flipping through the binder, taking all the best ones he could find. By the time he was done, he had over 30 quests to take care of. He and Hathor left the guild at that moment, not wanting to waste any more time. And so, they went through the city to all the locations listed…

One place was a man who'd severely injured his arm, and leg, in a work related accident. Another was a chef who'd accidentally severed his finger when an apprentice had bummed into him. There was a former waitress, blinded by a drunk adventurer. There were orphanages with sick children and caretakers alike. There was a wide range of illnesses and injuries, all of which were removed under that same, serene glow. Some quests offered what amounted to peanuts, but Shurry didn't really care about the money on quests like that, the other ones more than made up for it.

And so, within the span of the day, Shurry had completed the over 30 quests. Back at the guild, Royman nearly fainted, seeing the signatures of completion for each and every quest.

"This… You really did it. I'll have your rewards prepared immediately."

Shortly after, Shurry had a couple huge bags of money. "YAY! FOOD MONEY! LOTS OF MEAT!"

"A growing boy needs to eat…" Royman spoke just shocked that he wanted the money to buy food, and specifically meat.

And that evening, Shurry went to a restaurant with Hathor. Ordering a veritable mountain of food, until…

"We love that you've come to our establishment tonight, but unfortunately, we can't continue to keep up with your voracious appetite. We've nearly run out of meat, and a lot of other ingredients. And two of our chefs have collapsed from exhaustion."

"Hmm?" Shurry looked at the pretty waitress. His ears flicked and tail gently brushed side to side. The sheer cuteness he gave off made the waitress get all blushy. "So, I can't have more food?" His smile slowly started to go away. "But, I really like this food. It's really yummy."

OH this is too much! He's too damn CUTE!!!! Why did I have to get stuck with this annoying job? "Please accept my apologies, Lady Hathor, and adorable, cutie. We simply no longer have the means to keep up with you tonight."

"It's fine. I had a feeling this might happen. His appetite has been several times larger than it was a couple months ago." Hathor chuckled, then got serious. "Just tell us the bill. And we'll finish what's here."

"So I can keep eating!!!"

"Yes, but only what's here right now. We can go to another restaurant and eat out their supplies too."

"YAY! MORE MEAT!"

With a successful outcome, the waitress finally turned around with the payment, and once she was in the back, she took a seat and swooned. "How is it possible to be that adorable!"
