The morning a few days later, a rather cloudy sky dimmed the morning light. It was just slightly after Hathor familia's breakfast had finished when Idunn, Baldr, and Leon stopped in to see Shurry once more.
"Mommy! Daddy!" Shurry depressed a great big smile, running up to give them both a big hug.
"Hey there son, you've been behaving right?" Baldr smirked, causing others to chuckle remembering what Shurry did nearly a week earlier… "I was so shocked to hear you'd crashed the Denatus. And then I thought about it, and it's definitely something you'd do. Just don't make a habit of it, alright?"
"Okay, daddy! But, I just wanted to see mommy again… I was down there for a month and a half." Shurry replied with a pouty face.
"It's good to see you've grown close to Hathor in this way. I'm jealous, but it puts me at ease to know you'll have a mommy here for you." Idunn teased with her signature giggle. "Every child deserves a loving environment… I just wish I could do more for everyone…" She held back her tears, having cried enough about parting with Shurry.
"It's unfortunate, but there's only so much each of us can do. Even I-" Leon said, looking down at his hand, acting as if he was powerless. I'm going to get stronger. Using Maxim, & Zald's help, along with all the help the others gave me, I. Will. Master. My. Power. "Am limited in what I can do. We simply don't have the resources required to help more people than we already do. If anything we're spread a bit thin as it is."
"There's no need to try and console me, Leon. I already know all of that, it doesn't make it any easier to handle though…" Idunn almost sneered, but realized there was a change within Leon, one that was obvious to the gods. His soul, it's refining again. Good.
Shurry jumped down, and then ran off. "Hmm, I wonder what's under his skin now?" Baldr wondered.
Shurry came running back in, a few moments later. "Mommy, daddy, take these with you too. They're super yummy! Unccy Zaldy, and Unccy Maxy brought up the trees for me, so now I can have them whenever I want!" Shurry expressed, handing over a rare looking fruit…
"These are Mruits. These things are expensive and rare treats on the surface. Are you sure it's okay?" Baldr asked, hesitantly reaching for the delicacy.
"Just take them, we have two Mruit trees now. They fruit fairly quickly as it is, so you won't eat into any profits." Hathor said, swirling her wine. I know I shouldn't drink so early in the day, but, today is my day, I'm going to start building that reverse harem… After this next glass of wine.
"I see, I'm glad you're the one taking him in, Hathor, please continue to take care of our son."
"I will. He's a good boy, I enjoy having him around." Hathor smiled, and took off her mask, for the first time in a while in front of other people besides Shurry. "He's grown accustomed to Orario, and understands a bit more now, he's even made a cute little girlfriend. Those two are absolutely adorable together." She said, a little loose lipped.
"Oh no! Just a couple of months in the city and my son's already found a girlfriend?!" Idunn gasped, shocked by the massive change.
"It's not exactly like that, they're just two children that enjoy playing games together." Hathor finished her glass, and poured another one. "Besides, for a boy, he makes an excellent alarm clock. I'll always keep him by my side, or in my sight, whenever, and wherever I can. I don't want to miss anything. He is also my son."
There was a little more banter back and forth between the two goddesses, and they held some casual conversation for a while. Shurry played with Baldr, and Leon, even going as far to tell them both about his falna progress.
However, all this talk ran out the clock, and it was time to bid each other safe travels. This was their time to leave, it would be years before they all saw each other again.
As Idunn, Baldr, and Leon left the Hathor familia home, there was a moment of smiles, hoping to see each other again. A few moments passed after the three left…
Shurry ran out of the Hathor familia home. Out on the open street he shouted out, through the tear eyes, and big happy smile. "I'll see you again, Mommy! Daddy! Unccy! Thank you for rescuing me! Thank you for taking care of me! Thank you for bringing me to Orario! I LOVE YOU!!!!" He finished it off with a deep, powerful, and long howl.
Leon, still regretting his slowness to act, grit his teeth, and balled a fist, to hide this he turned just enough to give Shurry a positive, and cool elder's wave goodbye.
Baldr, with a similar regret in his heart, rubbed the ring Shurry had given him, and turned with a great big smile, exactly how the god of light should, it was radiant.
Idunn, having struggled to hold her tears in as long as she did, started crying, she did her best to wipe away the tears, then turned. "I LOVE YOU TOO, MY PRECIOUS BABY BOY!"
Hathor was waiting at the entrance to her familia's home, and then slowly walked out to meet Shurry, guiding him back inside. He's going to be crying for a long time… He's also doing a real good job of holding it all in.
Shurry's childish outburst in the middle of the street ended up being the talk of the town, it wasn't something entirely new. But, it wasn't exactly common either. So while the people talked about it, each had their own thoughts about his actions…
Inside Hathor's bedroom, the only sound that could be heard was that of a crying child, and a whimpering puppy. One who'd just had a massive wellspring of emotions that were well beyond his capacity to handle…
Hathor, cuddled the boy for the day, and through the night until morning dawned. The first day Shurry would see, without his parents there. It was the dawn of a new adventure, a new chapter, a turning of the page… From here, he would begin to learn directly from the world.
