Chapter 74 - The Puppeteer’s Game

Before long, the knights had surrounded me, binding me tightly in chains.

The "Shackles" skill that Aurora cast on me had already worn off after its thirty-second effect, but by then, it was too late for me to escape.

And Aurora — of course — slipped seamlessly back into her role as the trembling, helpless damsel, eyes wide with fear as she pointed at me.

"She's armed… she tried to assassinate me…"

One knight stepped forward, attempting to search me. I instantly thrashed and kicked, refusing to let him lay a hand on me.

"Don't you dare touch me!"

Just because Davina — or I — had flung ourselves willingly into the arms of the male leads didn't mean anyone had the right to touch me. Especially not in this time period, where even the act of being searched like that would tarnish my dignity.

The knight hesitated, startled by the authoritative weight in my voice. For a split second, he remembered I was once a princess of this empire.
