Chapter 107 - No More Teacup

If they wanted to drag me into their petty war, then fine. I would give them a war they'd never forget.

One to put them in their place, and two, to make sure they stayed the hell away from me. I didn't have the strength — or patience — to spend every day scheming about how to deal with these delicate little darlings of royalty.

I rose from my seat and strode boldly toward Matheyes. Behind me, elegant laughter chimed like church bells. Beautiful, pure, melodic, and absolutely deadly once you knew what festered beneath it.

"Be my guest." Matheyes offered the rifle to me with a smug little curl of her lips. The kind of smile you wanted to rip off a face.

At least she didn't bother to fake virtue like the rest of them. She embraced her own cruelty, wore it like a crown. In a way, I almost respected that.

I took the gun, turning it over in my hands, inspecting it from every angle.
