...

Yes.

That's right.

The conflict between the Uchiha clan and the village had been growing worse by the day.

Konoha's top brass—including the Third Hokage, Danzo Shimura, and others—regarded the Uchiha as a thorn in their side.

A threat.

The greatest threat to their authority.

Especially after the Nine-Tails' Attack.

That incident opened their eyes to just how dangerous the Sharingan could be when turned against the village.

And from the Uchiha's perspective—

They were one of the two founding clans of Konoha.

Proud. Reserved. Cold.

They looked down on other clans.

Arrogant.

They rarely communicated outside their circle, choosing instead to maintain their superiority in silence.

Especially after the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, established the Konoha Military Police Force and placed it under Uchiha control.

Their prestige peaked.

They had real power. Real presence.

But that very move planted the seeds of their downfall.

Backed by their noble bloodline and unmatched visual prowess, the Uchiha clan gained status few could rival.

They enforced the law with an iron grip.

Too iron.

Their actions caused friction. Unrest. Fear.

They created many unnecessary enemies in the village.

Still—

None of that was a problem during their heyday.

As long as their power remained unchallenged, might made right.

But in the eyes of the Third Hokage and Danzo...

Every move the Uchiha made became a weapon to be turned against them.

After the Nine-Tails' Attack, the situation rapidly deteriorated.

Originally, the Uchiha resided in central Konoha—prime territory.

But following the disaster, Hiruzen Sarutobi relocated the entire clan to the outskirts.

One step away from exile.

This blatant act of marginalization only worsened tensions.

Day by day, resentment festered within the clan.

The rift deepened.

Until today.

As the head of the Uchiha clan, Uchiha Fugaku had no choice but to act—for the future of the clan and its people.

That action…

Was to seize power from the Third Hokage and the upper echelons of Konoha.

At this moment, nearly all prominent members of the Uchiha were gathered at the Naka Shrine.

There, they laid bare the injustices and discrimination they had suffered at the hands of the village.

And then, the decisive moment came—a vote on whether to initiate a coup d'état.

It didn't take long for the results to come in.

An overwhelming majority voted in favor.

"Clan Head! The dawn of the Uchiha is finally here!"

"We believe you'll lead us to a new future, Chief!"

"Kill Sarutobi Hiruzen, kill Shimura Danzo! We're the true rulers of Konoha!"

"Kill Hiruzen!!!"

The shrine erupted with chants and shouts of rage and hope.

They remembered the founding of Konoha—how the Uchiha were promised they too could become Hokage.

But the First, Second, Third, and even the Fourth Hokage—none were Uchiha.

And after the Fourth's sacrifice during the Nine-Tails attack, who took the mantle again?

The same old man—Hiruzen Sarutobi!

How could the Uchiha accept this?

After all the sacrifices, after all the patience… only for the same Sarutobi to rise and fall, again and again.

If they kept enduring, soon all of Konoha would fall under the control of the Sarutobi clan.

Yet, in the midst of this boiling crowd, one figure remained silent.

Uchiha Itachi.

He stood there, eyes distant, watching his clan walk down a path of no return.

His gaze flickered, filled with inner turmoil.

Since childhood, Itachi had been steeped in the Will of Fire—the belief in protecting the village above all else.

To him, turning against the Hokage was nothing short of betrayal.

But these people… they were his family. His friends. His parents.

After the meeting ended, Itachi quietly slipped away from the clan grounds and disappeared into the night.

He thought long and hard.

And finally, he made his decision.

He would report the coup.

To the Third Hokage and the other high-ranking officials of Konoha.

Hokage Office, late at night.

A light flickered on.

Uchiha Itachi stood alone in front of Sarutobi Hiruzen, Koharu Utatane, Homura Mitokado, and Shimura Danzo.

He told them everything—the Uchiha clan had decided to rebel.

"This is absolutely unforgivable!" Koharu said angrily.

Homura added, "Hiruzen, we must act quickly or else…"

Danzo's voice was cold and sharp.

"If they've chosen treason, then it must be punished as such.

Now is not the time to hesitate, Hiruzen!"

As he spoke, Danzo slammed his cane against the ground.

This was the moment he had long been waiting for.

He'd been plotting ways to frame the Uchiha, to justify wiping them out. But now, they had handed him the perfect excuse.

He didn't even need to lift a finger.

Hiruzen remained silent.

His eyes moved from Danzo… to Koharu and Homura… and finally, to Itachi, whose head was bowed low.

He knew—Itachi had come with a heavy heart, torn between clan and village.

But that wasn't enough.

And yet, Hiruzen couldn't say it outright.

Doing so would tarnish his image—the mask of the benevolent Hokage.

So he remained quiet. For so long that even Danzo and the others began to grow anxious.

Danzo, who knew Hiruzen better than anyone, understood what the old man was doing.

Fine.

He'd be the blade again—Hiruzen's weapon in the dark.

But this time, he would gain something in return.

Danzo stepped forward.

Speaking on behalf of Konoha's leadership, he turned to Itachi.

He forced him to choose—his clan or his village.

Itachi already knew the weight of that choice.

He fell silent… and then made his decision.

He chose to protect Konoha.

But he had one condition:

"Spare my younger brother, Uchiha Sasuke."

The elders agreed.

Hiruzen, seeing Itachi's resolve, gave him a few empty words of comfort.

And so, that very night—

The fate of the Uchiha clan was sealed.

Under the watchful eyes of Konoha's top brass—Sarutobi Hiruzen, Shimura Danzo, and the others—

The plan for the Uchiha genocide was officially put into motion.

In a single night—

With the help of Uchiha Obito, who approached on his own, and the backing of Root operatives,

Uchiha Itachi began the massacre.

Dusk.

The sun dipped below the horizon.

Sasuke Uchiha, having stayed late to practice shuriken just to keep up with Naruto, was finally heading home.

As he walked through the clan compound, he noticed something strange.

The streets were quiet. Too quiet.

None of the usual bustling chatter or presence of his clansmen.

A strange and ominous air hung over the area.

His steps quickened.

He rushed home—

Only to be met with a sight that shattered his world.
