At dawn on the second day, the alliance of the three great ninja villages—Hidden Cloud, Hidden Rock, and Hidden Sand—stood face-to-face with the shinobi of the Hidden Leaf Village in a vast open field.
Although the allied forces still wore the uniforms of their respective villages, they all bore a new, unified forehead protector—a symbol of their temporary allegiance.
The Konoha forces, by contrast, wore their usual garb. There was nothing special or different about their appearance.
The two sides had already clashed in two major battles.
Because of the overwhelming difference in both numbers and top-tier combatants, the Hidden Leaf had been on the losing end both times.
Now, Konoha was backed into a corner, with no more room to retreat.
If they succeeded today, they might still draw a breath of reprieve.
If they failed—what awaited them would be annihilation.
Originally, this battle would have been a foregone conclusion.
The gap in power between the two sides was simply too vast.
But with the arrival of Uchiha Haru, everything on the battlefield had shifted into a strange and uncertain balance.
On the coalition's side, the morale was sky-high after two consecutive victories. Their confidence surged. In their minds, this was the final battle—the extermination of Konoha.
But Konoha was no longer the defeated force of yesterday. A fiery determination had taken root among them.
They were eager for battle.
There was no trace of the despair or disarray that had plagued them before.
All because of one man.
Uchiha Haru.
During the previous Chūnin Exams, Haru had descended like a savior. He defeated Tendo Pain—the leader of the Akatsuki—and did so with the Rinnegan. Then, with one hand, he stopped a meteor that was large enough to annihilate all of Konoha.
That scene left an unshakable impression on every Konoha shinobi—and even the civilians.
To them, Uchiha Haru was the embodiment of invincibility.
No matter how often they had failed, no matter how crushing the losses, with Uchiha Haru present, everything could change.
Now, Konoha's forces were not only few, but their composition was chaotic.
The village had reached its final limits.
In order to preserve Konoha, not only had every capable ninja taken to the field, but even strong young civilians had taken up arms.
They joined the desperate defense of their home.
Their fate was now tied completely to Konoha's.
If Konoha fell, none of them could expect to survive.
This was a harsh and undeniable truth.
So they came.
At the same time, the leading figures of the allied forces—the Fourth Raikage, Chiyo, and the Third Tsuchikage Ōnoki—gazed toward the Konoha lines.
They noticed that, in addition to Jiraiya and Tsunade, the two remaining Sannin who had confronted them before, there were also some unfamiliar faces among the Konoha ranks.
Killer B, the Eight-Tails Jinchūriki who had once fought Uchiha Haru, narrowed his eyes slightly, staring across the battlefield.
Someone whispered something into the Fourth Raikage's ear.
His brow immediately furrowed.
Ōnoki glanced at him from the side and asked, "What's wrong? Something unexpected?"
Chiyo also turned her head.
Though the Fourth Raikage wasn't as old as them, his strength was not to be underestimated.
More than that, he had always carried an air of arrogance—never taking others seriously. For him to show such an expression now...
It could only mean something serious had happened.
The Fourth Raikage paused, eyes locked in the direction of Uchiha Haru.
His expression hardened. He spoke slowly, each word carrying weight.
"That's Uchiha Haru."
Uchiha Haru.
The name alone made Chiyo and Ōnoki's expressions tighten.
Their gazes snapped toward Haru, eyes filled with complicated emotion.
Of course they had heard of him—the ninja whose name had recently shaken the entire shinobi world.
During the Chūnin Exams, the Akatsuki launched a sudden assault on Konoha.
Even the elusive Tendo Pain, the true force behind the Akatsuki, appeared on the battlefield.
Tendo Pain, the one who wielded the Rinnegan.
And yet, he had been defeated—by Uchiha Haru.
That single battle revealed the terrifying strength Haru possessed. His level of power was nearly incomprehensible.
True, he had already clashed with Killer B and his entourage when the Uchiha clan attempted to leave Konoha.
He had even captured several elite Hidden Cloud shinobi during that encounter.
But those incidents paled in comparison to what happened with Tendo Pain.
After all, the Rinnegan was the mythical eye of the Sage of Six Paths—an existence regarded as divine.
By all logic, the one who wielded such an eye should have been invincible.
But even so, Tendo Pain lost.
According to the intelligence reports, he hadn't just lost—he'd been utterly crushed. He barely managed to fight back.
That alone had shaken the entire ninja world.
It was that very fear that pushed them to make their next move—an aggressive push against the Hidden Mist Village.
Just as the Akatsuki had warned them.
They had to eliminate all potential threats before Kirigakure rose to prominence.
Otherwise, what awaited them would be a catastrophe beyond imagination.
So, they took their first step — attack Konoha, the possible ally of Kirigakure.
Then, gather strength and wipe out both Kirigakure and Uchiha Haru.
Although Uchiha Haru was known to be terrifyingly powerful, they had strength in numbers. And the masked man had promised — he had a method to deal with Uchiha Haru.
With that assurance, both parties came to an agreement. Together, they moved into action.
They feared Uchiha Haru's ability, but they also believed they had a countermeasure.
At the very least, they convinced themselves that they did.
Ohnoki turned slightly, his eyes sweeping across the dense forests and mountain ranges, before settling once more on Uchiha Haru, who now stood with Konoha.
Just days ago, the masked man had brought Orochimaru to this very place.
He'd said he was preparing something special to neutralize Uchiha Haru. But was it ready yet?
Facing Haru, they might be able to hold out for a while — but only just.
Defeating him? That was out of the question. No one had that illusion.
All they could do was buy time.
Meanwhile, the shinobi of Konoha were silently watching the approaching coalition — a force many times their own size.
Nervousness spread like wildfire through the Konoha ranks.
No amount of strategy or morale could disguise such a staggering difference in numbers.
Then, Uchiha Haru stepped forward alone.
A towering green wooden dragon carried him aloft, gliding gracefully through the air before touching down in front of the ninja coalition.
Though he stood alone, facing tens of thousands of enemies, he exuded a presence that dwarfed them all.
He was just one man, but the aura he released weighed heavier than a mountain.
"ROAR!!"
The wooden dragon beneath him let out an earth-shaking roar.
Its bellow echoed across the battlefield, shaking the air and drilling into the hearts of every shinobi present.
Even their souls seemed to tremble involuntarily.
Faces in the ninja coalition twisted in fear.
They had only heard of such ninja in legends — never seen one in person.
And yet, here stood one before them, flesh and blood. A living myth.
Doubt flooded their hearts. Could such a person even be defeated?
With his arms crossed before his chest, Haru calmly looked across the entire army.
Then, without speaking, he extended a single finger — and beckoned.
The gesture was clear: Come at me. All of you.
"Arrogant bastard!"
The Fourth Raikage slapped his thigh and leapt up in fury.
He knew the kind of shinobi Haru was — knew his power. But seeing this kind of provocation stirred the fire in his blood.
Especially after the situation with Killer B… He already bore a deep grudge against Uchiha Haru and had long wanted to settle the score.
Now Haru was standing right in front of him.
Yes, the Fourth Raikage knew he might not be a match for Haru. But whether he could win was one thing — whether he had the guts to try was another.
As the leader and strongest of the Hidden Cloud Village, he could not allow this kind of arrogance to go unanswered.
He prepared to move, but—
"Wait!"
Chiyo raised her hand to stop him.
"Raikage, don't let your anger get the better of you."
"War isn't just about strength. It's also about strategy."
She spoke calmly but firmly, her experience showing through every word. "We need to use our advantages wisely, not rush blindly into things."
The Third Tsuchikage, Ōnoki, floated closer on his rock platform, nodding.
"She's right. Our numbers are our strength."
"Why throw that away by fighting Uchiha Haru one-on-one?"
The Fourth Raikage paused, frowning. It was infuriating… but they were right.
He slowly lowered his arm and narrowed his eyes, glaring at the airborne Uchiha Haru with reluctant admiration and restrained fury.
Today, he wanted to see just what kind of monster had taken down Tendo Pain.
The commanders of the Hidden Cloud, Hidden Rock, and Hidden Sand Villages all came to an agreement.
With a wave of Ōnoki's hand, the signal was given.
Thousands of shinobi charged forward toward the Konoha frontlines, dust rising like a sandstorm behind them.
On the Konoha side, the mood turned tense in an instant.
Every ninja's brows furrowed as they watched the approaching army.
"We go too!"
Tsunade prepared to give the order — to charge, to fight to the death if they had to.
But just before the words left her lips, Kakashi stepped forward and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Lady Tsunade, we can't."
"Have you forgotten the agreement we made?"
