Chapter 8 - Growing up

It's been 5 years since Charlie and I initially met and became friends. We obviously got closer, with each other becoming best friends.

Stolas also has gotten a bit more mature and has met with Stella. Man, let me tell you, she is a piece of work—always complaining over the littlest things, and worst of all, she made sure that Stolas has no friends that could get close to him, mainly due to the fact that she hates anyone not remotely royal.

This made Stolas and the imp boy naturally distant from each other. At least, that's the story I'm going with. Ever since I got back from Castle Morningstar, the imp was nowhere to be found, disappearing from his life forever.

But this wasn't all bad. Stolas was able to practice his magic more, studying the stars and all that junk.

I didn't fall behind though. As I practiced my own personal magic and developed it, I found out that I can absorb magic and souls. This allowed me to gain strength and power from the beings I killed. This also made sure that a sinner could be killed permanently without the need of angelic weapons.

My favorite spell was the teleportation spell I developed with the help of Stolas' own magic by modifying the spell to travel between realms.

I can teleport to any location I've been to before, with the only side effect being a small headache, and slowly it was being perfected to remove this downside completely.

My second favorite spell was the self-cleaning spell. This spell allowed me to clean my clothes as well as myself, which means I didn't have to wash myself or brush my teeth anymore.

These past few years have been... interesting, to say the least. My responsibilities were hard to accomplish since any soul that passed quickly became a sinner or an angel. The only time I get to use my powers is when I kill sinners and absorb their souls. This way I can either reform their soul into something new and place it inside of a new body, or just turn them into my own power.

Charlie wasn't the most enthusiastic about my work, but she wasn't really stopping me since this was my job.

Oh, and Charlie has grown up a bit. She now wears a pinkish-red dress with red and white stripes.

We usually hang out during the weekend since both of us have our own responsibilities to take care of. Charlie was learning about royal etiquette and all the royal junk from some prissy Goetia they knew of.

I, on the other hand, made my very own legion of demons as a pastime when collecting souls during my travels in the human realm to do my job.

The legion consisted of 5,000 demons of varying sizes, from the small imps to the 5 titans that I had personally made of 1,000 souls each.

Well, enough of getting sidetracked, let's talk about my experience in Hell.

First off, Hell is not ruled just by Lucifer. Though he rules all of Hell, there were other leaders, or as they are called, the Sins. They rule their respective ring of Hell and govern it in any way they want.

Secondly, Father has never visited us brothers, though he would check up on us with his magic mirror from time to time, having the excuse that he was too busy and couldn't come there personally.

And finally, Charlie's mom apparently left her and her dad one night, just leaving all of a sudden without explanation or reason.

Safe to say, Charlie was quite sad to find out that her own mother would abandon her and her father, but she pushed on, saying she'll come back one day.

But the same thing could not be said for the King. He isolated himself from the outside world, only interacting with Charlie.

---

Today, Charlie and I were hanging out inside my home. We were sitting down on the couch watching a cartoon while eating our favorite foods.

Then Charlie suddenly spoke.

"Hey Stygy, I have a question."

"Shoot."

"Do you think it's possible to redeem a soul?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, is it possible to turn a sinner into an angel and get them to Heaven?"

"I don't know about that, Charlie. I never heard of a sinner being redeemed in any shape or form. I don't think there's anything that could save their souls."

"But if I were to say... try and help a sinner to redeem themselves, would you laugh at me?"

"Why would I do that? No matter how impossible your dream is, I'll always be there to help you."

Her eyes brightened, and she lunges from her seat and hugs me.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

"Why are you thanking me?"

"Because I'm going to redeem them!"

"Okay, and how?"

"I have no clue!"

We both stared at each other and laughed.

"Thanks for always being there for me."

"Of course. What are friends for?"

At that moment, unbeknownst to Charlie, she felt a slight prick in her heart, like something important was lost—but she did not know what this feeling was until later in life.

But for Stygian, he was sincerely happy for his friend.
