Elián;
The fog came like a breath from a god's mouth… cold, thick, and seemingly endless.
It rolled in fast, climbing up to people's waists… Koda's hands tighten around me.
"Elian…" he whispers with worry heavy in his voice as his eyes keep scanning the fog.
"Stay behind me." He adds as he gently pushes me behind him.
I cling to him as I can barely hear him. The sound of my heartbeat is starting to drown everything else.
"I don't feel good," Elien speaks as every hair on my skin rises in warning.
"Me too," I reply and just then, from within the fog, a figure steps forward.
A woman.
She walks like a strutting cat. Hips swaying slowly as whoever she is walks with casual, steady steps.
Her silhouette glows faintly against the mist. The crowd parts as she walks through, and with her arrival, the temperature drops further.
Then comes a slow, even voice that carries a subtle echo.
Slow, timed, mocking.
