Chapter 28 - The Storm After Peace

"I knew happiness would cost me something. I just didn't think it would be so fast."

— Kaien Azaryth Vordrakar

Scene 1: The Crack in the Sky

The next morning began like the last few.

Warm sunlight.

Smiling siblings.

Aeyra trying to sneak cookies.

And then —

the sky cracked.

No explosion. No warning.

Just a line of shadow across the clouds… then thunder from beneath the ground.

Valenya froze.

"That's a warline shift."

Kaien didn't speak.

Because he felt it.

Something old. Something bound to his bloodline.

Something Rahul had buried, not defeated.

Scene 2: The Citadel Falls Under Siege

The air split.

A fleet of spectral constructs — Ashborne, weapons made of forgotten void—descended with precision.

Aren tried to deploy defenses, but they were jammed.

Aeyra screamed as the floor cracked beneath her.

Valenya moved to shield them, but the wall collapsed, splitting the group.

Olivia: "They weren't aiming to kill."

Kaien: "They're aiming to divide."

He activated full Voidflame mode — a black storm dancing off his skin.

"No one dies today."

Scene 3: Siblings Separated

Valenya and Aren were forced into the northern wing, holding a collapsing corridor.

Aeyra was trapped inside the archive vault — safe, but sealed.

Kaien and Olivia were pushed outside the Citadel — together, but exposed.

Olivia touched Kaien's shoulder mid-dash.

"They're targeting you."

"Then they picked the wrong day."

Scene 4: Olivia's Voice Awakens Something Ancient

Pinned down by Ashborne sentries, Olivia had no weapons left.

So she sang.

The same Lament she performed during the Feast of Crowns.

Only this time — it responded.

The air trembled.

The creatures paused — almost confused.

A pulse of Rahul's old seal magic exploded outward — but twisted, reshaped through Olivia's Bloomlight.

"What was that?" Kaien asked.

Olivia (terrified): "I don't know. I've never felt that part of me awaken."

Kaien: "Then whatever it is — hold onto it. I think it's meant for now."

Scene 5: Zephyr Returns — Bloodied and Burning

From the clouds — a shockwave.

A blur tore through six Ashborne constructs.

Blades screaming. Eyes glowing.

Zephyr landed hard, panting, bleeding, but standing.

"Miss me?" he asked.

Kaien stepped toward him.

"You're late."

Zephyr grinned — then collapsed.

"Had to kill three copies of myself to get here.

Also Rahn knows where you sleep. Thought you should know."

Scene 6: The Enemy's Message

From the sky, a projection burned into view.

Vael Rahn.

Rahul's erased blood.

His voice echoed through every ruined tower.

"This is what happens when heirs pretend they're kings."

"You play family. You think love is protection."

"But legacy… legacy is fire."

He looked directly at Kaien.

"Come find me. Or I'll keep taking your pieces."

"One by one."

Final Scene: Kaien's Command

Night. The Citadel burned in parts. Others still stood.

Kaien walked through the ruined main hall. His cloak torn. Arm burned.

He looked at each sibling. Olivia. Valenya. Aeyra. Aren. Zephyr.

All alive. Shaken. Quiet.

He turned to the flame behind the throne — the one that only Rahul once stood before.

And he whispered:

"You protected the world by standing alone."

"I'll protect it by never being alone again."

His eyes lit with Voidflame.

"We're done waiting."

"Next chapter… we burn everything that tried to break us."
