Chapter 19 - Ten Draws (1)

After the peaceful month that had passed since coming to this world, where he had focused solely on developing his martial arts, Hong Wei, who was alone at this moment, began thinking about his upcoming plans, with his eyes fixed on the gacha system.

'Free draws… can they be stacked?' he wondered silently, before finally making up his mind to suppress the impulsive urge to immediately use the free chance that would be available tomorrow.

And just like that, time started passing a little more slowly.

But, as usual, he spent his days training in martial arts, dibbing in the medicinal path, or lying under the skillful hands of Shan Mei to receive a massage.

Time passed like that, flowing gently, and before he knew it… two days had gone by.

So, when he looked at his system window and saw:

[Free Draw] x2

He couldn't help but clench his hand in quiet satisfaction at the feasibility of his plan.

Because it's a universally known truth… that ten draws are always better than a single one!

The chances of drawing something good don't just increase tenfold… they seem to multiply by far more.

At least, that's what his experience told him, as someone who had played gacha games for more than ten years!

So now, knowing that his plan of stacking ten free draws was indeed possible, Hong Wei didn't touch the two he already had.

Instead, he continued stacking… patiently waiting, day after day.

"It's finally time," Hong Wei said excitedly, a little louder than usual, right after waking up from his sleep.

It was the tenth day since he first decided to stack his free draws. Meaning he now had ten chances to draw!

But instead of rushing to draw immediately like he used to do during his first month, Hong Wei got up and first went to take a bath, cleaning… no, cleansing himself.

Then, he then moved to the kitchen and began preparing breakfast himself.

It was still early, and his mother hadn't woken up yet. Shan Mei and Seren were still meditating.

They naturally noticed him, though. And the two of them offered to help. But he gently refused…

And like that, time continued to pass.

Now, Hong Wei had already finished setting the table, with the freshly prepared food neatly placed.

He was looking at his mother, who in turn was gazing at the meal he made with visible amazement, clearly wondering what had gotten into him.

With a warm smile, Hong Wei gestured toward the table and said invitingly,

"Come sit down, Mother. I made this for you. Try it."

Only after she sat did he finally take his seat as well.

His mother complimented his cooking skills, and he was all smiles.

But he didn't eat much himself. Instead, he devoted his attention to asking about her needs and gently placing food in front of her.

"That was really delicious!" Xue Yiran said with a satisfied sigh, having eaten even more than usual and wiped all the plates clean. After all, her son rarely ever cooked.

And Hong Wei, feeling that the moment had come, finally moved from his seat to her side.

He cupped his hands and bowed his head low.

"Mother," he said, voice soft but steady, "I know the path ahead is steep, and the heavens may not favor me… but your words, your blessing, they carry more weight than fortune itself."

He looked up, his eyes earnest.

"Please, give me your blessing. Just a few words from your heart. If the heavens hear you…"

'The Gacha System, I mean'

He thought before, he continued, "Perhaps they'll grant me a sliver of luck."

Hong Wei, who had not pulled any Epic or higher character aside from the very first, sought luck and fortune through his mother's blessing.

But Xue Yiran, who didn't know anything about his inner situation, looked at him strangely and asked.

"Are you sick?"

And Hong Wei nearly stumbled at that, looking at her with aggrieved eyes.

Xue Yiran's heart softened at the sight. While she could feel something strange about her son, she chose not to dwell on it and instead said gently, "Okay, okay, you have all my blessing."

"Come here."

When he moved even closer, she gave him a warm hug and kissed him between the eyebrows.

'Shouldn't I be the one kissing her hand or her forehead?' Hong Wei, now on the receiving side, wondered to himself.

His mother had always been more affectionate, so the hug was one thing… but the kiss… well, that felt different.

He thought about the topic briefly, then simply shrugged it off.

And under the odd gazes of Shan Mei, Seren, and his mother, he quietly took his leave.

When he was finally alone in his room, Hong Wei, who had just shown his filial piety to his mother and was now feeling more confident, summoned his gacha system at last.

And without any hesitation, he used all his ten draws together!
