In the dim light of the secret laboratory, Nathan worked meticulously as he examined the withered form of the blue symbiote laid out before him. His hands moved with precision as he dissected its biological structure, unraveling the mysteries embedded in its gelatinous form. The Life Foundation had clearly underestimated what it was dealing with.
Nathan murmured under his breath, "Their research is shallow... child's play, really."
He had already realized that symbiotes are tenacious beyond comprehension, capable of surviving long periods without sustenance by entering a state of suspended animation. This ability to mimic death made them notoriously hard to kill. And yet, somehow, the Life Foundation had come close to doing just that through sheer negligence.
"Their research methods are downright barbaric," Nathan muttered. "They hosted this symbiote in countless organisms without understanding compatibility. They weren't observing — they were torturing."
As a result, the internal structure of the blue symbiote was damaged, nearly beyond repair. But Nathan saw a spark of hope. A faint breath of life remained. If he could restore its structure and provide nutrients, there was a chance to revive it.
"I've got some therapeutic agents and nutrient solutions in the lab… let's see if that's enough."
He got to work.
Using finely calibrated instruments, Nathan carefully realigned the damaged internal membranes. His deep understanding of alien biology allowed him to repair the cellular architecture at an accelerated pace. After hours of meticulous effort, the task was complete.
Then, using his psychic abilities, Nathan summoned a vial of nutrient solution across the room, letting it drip onto the symbiote's body.
Within seconds, the once-dried form absorbed the liquid eagerly. Its surface shimmered, regaining its elasticity and dark sheen. The creature twitched, then started to crawl, long tendrils curling as life surged back through it.
In the adjacent container, a pale yellow symbiote stirred at the sight, seemingly excited by its companion's revival. It pressed its gelatinous body against the glass as if greeting its fellow survivor.
Nathan observed the scene, a smile forming on his lips. "Excellent. Now I have two."
"I wonder which one of you is stronger."
With the blue symbiote fully revived, Nathan turned his attention to the monitoring equipment. A flick of his hand activated the computer, and surveillance footage from the Life Foundation compound filled the screen.
He had previously hacked into their systems and installed backdoor surveillance tools, anticipating a riot would soon erupt — quite literally.
This time, the riot wouldn't just be civil. He was tracking Riot, the symbiote leader.
Although in the original Venom timeline Riot orchestrated a full-scale invasion using rockets, the current universe had diverged — a fusion of Marvel Earth and the Venom world. With the blending of timelines came unpredictable consequences.
"I can't let Riot bring more of his kind to Earth," Nathan muttered, narrowing his eyes at the live feed.
That would be catastrophic.
Elsewhere, Carlton Drake stood near the launch pad, a twisted smile on his face as he gazed at the rocket designed to transport symbiotes back to Earth.
"Once my army descends," Drake said aloud, "I'll find you, mystery man. I'll turn this world upside down to get my revenge."
"You'll know what it means to suffer."
Just as he made his declaration, a cold chill crawled down his spine, and he sneezed violently.
"Huh? Am I catching a cold…?"
Back in the lab, Nathan began his next phase of research.
"It's time to find out how the symbiote interacts with my body… without compromising me."
He began small.
Real mice — not human test subjects — were placed into containment modules. Nathan wanted to see how symbiotes affected different organisms based on their strength.
He discovered that symbiotes dramatically enhanced weaker hosts, often making them superhuman. But for stronger hosts, the improvements were incremental. The true enhancement seemed relative.
"Symbiotes level the playing field," Nathan noted.
He studied both his symbiotes. The blue one was more advanced, harboring a unique genome containing weapon blueprints, while the pale yellow one was more basic.
"This genome… it's like a weapon arsenal. Reminds me of Chaos," Nathan whispered, referencing the infamous symbiote overlord.
Upon translating the data, he found schematics for symbiotic weaponry embedded in the blue one's cells — weapons that could be formed using biotech-based constructs, far superior to basic tentacle whips or claws.
These weapons could cut through steel and endure intense force.
However, they were limited in number. This symbiote, while above average, wasn't on Riot or Carnage's level — but it was close.
In his continuing studies, Nathan discovered another vital fact: symbiotes could replicate genes, but not the powers behind them.
"You can copy the Hulk's genes, but not his gamma-infused strength," Nathan explained. "Similarly, Daredevil's senses require radioactive catalysts."
True ability replication needed full biological context, not just genes.
That's when Nathan realized the risk — what if a symbiote copied his genes?
"I can't allow that," he declared.
He began exploring how symbiotes replicate genetic material. He found the process instinctual and automatic, triggered upon bonding. However, it relied on recognizing gene markers through basic biological signals.
"If I mask my gene structure or confuse their recognition pathways," he theorized, "I can block them from copying me."
He worked feverishly, developing a special protein-based encryption system using geometric codes embedded in his DNA.
Hours later, Nathan succeeded.
His genetic lock was complete. Any unauthorized attempts to replicate or alter his DNA would lead to immediate cellular collapse.
"Now I'm safe. No symbiote can clone me."
But there was one more issue — memory invasion.
Symbiotes could invade the host's brain, access memories, and manipulate emotions. If left unchecked, this could lead to identity loss or mental instability.
Nathan delved into neuroscience, studying synaptic transmission and neural networks. He learned that memory replay required reactivation of specific neuron pathways.
Symbiotes, he found, wrapped themselves around the host's brain and emitted electromagnetic pulses, reactivating these pathways and essentially "reading" memories.
Using this knowledge, Nathan replicated the memory extraction technique — but with a twist.
He created a machine that allowed memory transfer from mind to computer, with visual renderings on-screen.
"This changes everything," he whispered. "No more lies. No more secrets. If I need the truth, I'll extract it."
It was more than just a breakthrough. It was a weapon of knowledge.
He grinned. "With this, I can even access the memories of symbiotes themselves. Some of them are ancient… maybe even older than civilization."
But Nathan was not reckless. He also developed a countermeasure — a device to block memory intrusion.
He designed a necklace that emitted interference signals, disrupting the symbiote's brainwave frequencies and protecting the host's mind.
He tested it on a white lab mouse.
The mouse bonded with the symbiote — but this time, no brain activity spikes occurred. The mouse's neural network remained dormant.
Nathan's eyes gleamed with victory.
"Success. Emotional influence and memory theft are neutralized."
Now, it was time to take the final step.
He placed the shielding necklace around his neck and looked at the blue symbiote.
"You're the stronger one. You'll bond with me."
He held up a hand. "But remember — this is temporary. Five hours max. Any longer, and you'll burden my body. And if you disobey..."
Nathan's expression turned ice-cold.
"I'll burn you alive."
To emphasize his point, he released a wave of bio-electric heat from his cells, making the air shimmer.
The symbiote recoiled in terror, its tendrils curling defensively. Then it nodded in compliance.
Nathan smirked. "Good. Now come. Let's evolve."
The blue symbiote surged forward, wrapping around his limbs, his chest, his skull, encasing him in a layer of organic armor.
In an instant — they were one.
And the era of enhanced evolution had officially begun.
