“To be more precise, beyond Mount Kylas lies the land of monsters,” Vlad explained. “It’s a snow-covered mountain with a semicircular peak that marks the end of the Attaca Platea—the farthest boundary of human habitation. Even my knights can only travel as far as the point where the mountain comes into view.”
His gaze drifted toward the horizon as if he were looking at somewhere far beyond. It was clear he was looking in the direction of the northern reaches where the Attaca Plateau lay.
Liliette was taken aback, though she tried not to show it. The idea that the land beyond Attaca was the domain of monsters was startling. No one had ever spoken of the origin of monsters in such a way. Unless hell itself lay beyond that peak, it seemed more likely that those creatures were simply native to the north, not some cursed beings. And yet, even Vlad seemed unaware of the implication.
