Conan now ran alongside the group, heading toward the outskirts to meet up with everyone else. Along the way, they encountered some other slaves, helping them and taking them with them.
Upon leaving, everyone felt a mixture of anger and disgust after seeing some corpses, both of other slaves and of the guards who had prevented their escape.
"Gather all the other groups and get together, quickly!" ordered Ghislaine, who had already begun to run off toward the other groups of slaves.
"I must hurry, the other guards will be here soon," thought Conan as he ran toward a group that was separating from the others, calling out to them. As soon as he joined the group, he shouted, "Hey, gather together and don't separate so you won't be caught!" He pointed to some teenagers and children who had been captured and were being dragged away to keep them at a distance.
"I wish I could help them, but I don't have the strength after waking up," thought Conan, leading the others and bringing them to the main group that was forming with other gathered groups.
"There are several of us now, we all have to leave. We'll meet up with the others along the way," said Ghislaine, running ahead of the group, along with several other teenagers carrying weapons to defend themselves.
Even as they ran, if they saw a child or teenager fighting or being captured by the guards, they helped them, with the mindset of escaping as many as possible. Some were being surrounded by the guards, so it took everyone with weapons to help kill them.
Conan did not kill or fight because he could barely keep up with the others, and his senses were overwhelmed by the presence of the corpses, even causing him to vomit. This happened several times, to the point that he almost fainted from lack of energy.
After a few minutes, the group grew in number, which made it easier to meet up with others or help them. It didn't take them long to reach the entrance to the 'orphanage', where they met up with Anna and the other slaves. As they began to approach the exit, they realized that several people were waiting for them outside. In front of everyone was the woman who ran the entire farm.
"You made an excellent plan. Compensating for your lack of skills with numbers is a smart move," the woman applauded.
Her words were tinged with an arrogant and contemptuous tone toward the slaves. She did not hesitate to let her bloodlust show as she put her hand on the sword hanging from her waist.
"I knew this would happen. Even though reinforcements arrived, we outnumber them and we have some magicians. At least some of them will manage to escape," thought Anna, who gestured with her hands and three teenagers stood behind her, these being the only magicians among all the slaves.
Seeing the magicians take up battle positions, the woman did the same with her group, a couple of hand signals enough to bring a group of her guards to her side.
For a few seconds, neither group moved or made a sound, causing only the night wind to be heard. Along with the sun, which was beginning to show itself on the horizon, illuminating all the people standing.
--Conan's perspective--
"Damn, they caught us and now it will be harder to escape!" I thought, throwing myself at a man who was about to hit a boy who looked to be my age.
I jumped and kicked him hard, knocking him to the ground, where someone else cut off his head. How disgusting! I couldn't help thinking that as I felt the blood stain my face.
I cleaned myself up as best I could and went to help the boy, helping him up and saying, "Go with the others," pointing to the others, a small group that was far from the fight.
I have to help the others. Even though I'm too tired to fight, I can at least take others away. I have to do that, at least. As I was thinking about getting up and continuing to help, I could see out of the corner of my eye something sharp coming at me at full speed. I barely had time to react, jumping back and dodging the object by just a few centimeters when I saw it.
"Wow, to think you dodged my attack at your age," said the woman, who was looking at her gleaming sword, leaving a big impression on her.
It's her! It's the woman with the necklace. Even after remembering it many times, I still feel pain in my neck. I need to get away, fast! I thought. With memories of my conversation with Anna assaulting my mind. She had said that someone had ruined her previous escape, and I think it was her. I distanced myself, holding my daggers in the battle stance I had been taught in that very place.
"Are you using the attack and defense techniques we taught you?" the woman said, surprised. "I'm flattered to see one of my children using my teachings," she said, pointing her sword at me.
"I'm not going to use anything!" I shouted, "Someone, help me!"
My shout seemed to have caught the attention of the others. A fireball came out of nowhere, flying at high speed toward the woman's face. The smile on my face disappeared instantly when I saw her simply duck, and the fireball flew over her head.
"Damn, I missed her!" said one of the wizards, his gray hair blowing in the wind. He looked just as frustrated as I did. "Still, it was just a distraction," he said with a smile.
I didn't understand what he meant, but my doubts were resolved when I saw Ghislaine leap from his spot and rush forward at full speed with a sword in his hand, looking determined to kill the woman.
She barely flinched and with a swift movement blocked Ghislaine's sword, sending it to the ground and leaving him vulnerable. Without giving him time to finish his attack, I lunged at them, moving quickly to make a slash that went straight for the arm holding the sword. I missed horribly.
Even though I didn't hit him, he moved away from Ghislaine, which gave him time to stand up.
"Ghislaine!" I shouted, watching him quickly get to his feet beside me.
"It was nothing, don't get excited," he said, preparing to launch another attack. "Just support me and don't rush towards her again or you'll end up dead," he corrected me, to which I nodded fervently before looking back at the woman who had been watching us.
"They're not a big force," she said arrogantly as she stood up straight, ready to continue fighting.
"Let's see if that's true!" shouted the wizard and another boy at the same time.
I didn't even see when the other boy appeared. I only saw how the wizard had thrown a fast stone bolt from behind, at the same time as the other boy stepped forward and appeared in front of the woman, lunging forward to throw a punch.
The woman stopped the bolt with her sword, then kneed the boy in the face. Without wasting any time, Ghislaine lunged at her, making a superficial cut on her leg.
"She cut her, I have to go now!" I said to myself as I ran and threw one of the daggers at the woman's head.
"You are the most persistent," said the woman, ducking and darting towards me.
She slashed at my body, which was barely interrupted by a fireball from the gray-haired boy. The fire had burned her hand, staining her sword with blood. She quickly moved away, looking at her arms, which had several severe burns.
"This escape is certainly better than the last one," she said in a more serious tone, radiating her bloodlust toward us.
