Chapter 3 - Strange New World

With no sense of time or urgency, Harry didnt know when he went to sleep on the night of the party. His body started feeling heavy, and he just knew that he had to rest a little bit. Also, it was given that he needed rest because he did enjoyed himself that night. After a long time, he had some fresh meat, which was of a dark shade of green in this world. He enjoyed orange color juice, which reminded him of Indolo berries from Urus-03, his homeworld.

Other than eating and drinking strange things, he also tried to strike up some conversation with the children, or so his so-called siblings. But he just was not able to connect with them. It was not his fault as either. Currently, he was in the body of a boy who was about to enter his teenage years, while he was a 560-year-old man.

Children were no sport either. They asked him whether he saw Lord Leh when he was thrown in the air. He didnt know how to answer that.

While some asked him whether he would be killed, because he was a retard now. Some even questioned why he was behaving weirdly, asking stupid questions about their tribe.

So when he finally retired to the tent with his siblings, he realized that the space in the tent was not enough for six of them. But none of them seemed to care, and he didnt as well. As soon as he lay down beside them, sleep came to him naturally within seconds.

Which was soon broken when someone violently shook him.

When he opened his eyes, he saw that the tent that they were sleeping under was gone. Imka, the father of the boy whose body he was inhabiting, was standing over him, "Wake up, Adui," he said. "We are leaving."

Harry saw that it was still dark outside. The moon of the world had moved, and the rising sun was about to peek from the opposite direction. But it was still not dawn yet.

Peaceful sleep for a long time, and this guy had to ruin it. He didnt complain, pushed himself up. These guys dont look evolved enough to have any knowledge of time or timekeeping. Then how the hell were they able to wake up without an alarm clock? Even his augmented body had timers to wake him up. How these guys woke up just before dawn was beyond him.

Most of the children of his age were reluctant to wake up, but the violent shaking of adults made them all fall in line quickly. From what Harry saw, they were the only ones awake at that time. Agora, the town or settlement they were in right now, no one was awake except for their tribe.

The strange part was the adults. They were all armed, working efficiently, and while being silent, almost as if they didnt want to inform anyone of their departure.

All of their stuff was loaded on four big carts. And they had all kinds of stuff, ranging from leather, herbs, and weird glowing stones to their tent material. There were a couple of things in the carts that got Harry interested, but he didnt have the time to ask around about those items. Because he was now facing a problem that he didnt like.

There were four carts, all the adults were carrying weapons like spears and bows. But there were no animals or automata in sight. Instead, the children had gathered in front of the carts.

Surely not. They are not going to use children now, are they? It was then that he received a smack on his head.

He looked back to see Groga standing behind him. He was the chief of their tribe, from what he gathered yesterday. Groga was this hulking figure, bald, with most of his body riddled with tribal tattoos. The guy was very intimidating, children were very afraid of the person.

"Get to your cart, boy," Groga said, glaring at him.

Rubbing the back of his head, Harry made his way to the only cart, which seemed to be missing a person. With all carts having at least three children to pull them, they were ready to set out. Without further ado, Groga ordered them to move.

They made their way out of the small settlement quietly.

Harry realized that he was right; there was this tension in the air that he could feel. He noticed that the adults in the group had put their guard up and were ready to fight a moment's notice. Their eyes were constantly looking around, trying to spot anything dangerous.

Harry theorized that maybe all the Heks were not as peaceful as they seemed.

From the information he gathered yesterday, Agora, this settlement was supposed to be a very sacred place for the six tribes of the area. And the group of all the tribes combined is called Heks. During the party, everyone seemed to be enjoying each other's company, but this paints a whole other picture.

Maybe.. No one can show hostility towards each other in the settlement. He theorized. Maybe, as it is a sacred place, no fighting can take place here.

With adults looking around, Harry focused on the only task that he had.

Pulling the cart was the easy part, the difficult part was navigating through rough terrain with so much load on your back. There were rocks on the ground that could potentially pierce their skin when stepped on. Not to mention the wheels of the cart were handmade and full of imperfections. Which is why they were not even rotating properly.

"Keep your guards up," Groga mumbled when they had traveled around a kilometer away from the town. Everyone looked more serious for some reason.

But Harry, on the other hand, was not thinking straight at the moment. Because his attention was translucent barrier that they were approaching.

With the sun rising on the horizon, the barrier was reflecting its rays on them. From what his eyes could scan, the barrier was in the shape of a dome, a very big dome. From what he could theorize, Agora was supposedly located in the middle of the barrier. Another thing that Harry noticed was that none of the children beside him noticed the barrier. Or at least they didnt point at it.

But no matter how he looked at the barrier, he could not understand the purpose of the dome, considering he had watched flocks of birds just casually entering and exiting the barrier.

If it is not meant to let anyone in, then what is its purpose? He questioned, but his scans couldnt show him an answer.

They were able to make their way out of the barrier with ease, without even feeling discomfort. Only after walking a short distance, Harry glanced back to realize that he was not able to see the barrier now. Hell, he was not able to spot Agora as well.

The white dome is big enough to be seen from here. We are walking in plain lands, which means that the purpose of the barrier is to cloak Agora. And he found the fact very fascinating.

This place is just full of mysteries, he thought. These people have the means to set up a cloaking barrier and have some sort of supernatural energy at their disposal, yet they are so backward.

It is then that Harry promised himself that once he is big and strong enough, he would love to explore what more this world has to offer…
