Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Marilulli

Soon it was Jun Shafeng's turn to compete again, and his opponent was the trainer who had used Sunflower Monster earlier.

The Sunflower Monster's trainer spoke to Jun Shafeng. "My name is Benjamin, and I'm a trainer who loves Grass-type Pokémon. I'm curious about why your Growlithe's clones can attack."

"If you want to know, you'll have to find out through battle," Jun Shafeng replied, throwing his Poké Ball.

Seeing this, Benjamin summoned his Sunflower Monster.

The moment Sunflower Monster appeared, Jun Shafeng asked the system to scan it. The system quickly displayed Sunflower Monster's information.

[Sunflower Monster]

[Attribute: Grass]

[Level: 29]

[Gender: Male]

[Features: Chlorophyll]

[Skills: Absorb, Hold, High-Speed Movement, Slam, Poison Powder, Paralysis Powder, Sleep Powder, Leaf Blade, Shadow Clone]

After reviewing the data, Jun Shafeng gave instructions to Growlithe. "The enemy is higher level than us, so be careful."

Growlithe responded by creating two shadow clones, surrounding Sunflower Monster in a triangle formation.

Benjamin reacted quickly. "Use Poison Powder, Sleep Powder, and Paralysis Powder on all three!"

Jun Shafeng countered immediately. "Growlithe, use Flamethrower to burn the powder!"

Sunflower Monster managed to release Poison Powder on one clone before Growlithe and his clones unleashed Flamethrower. The flames weren't strong enough to stop all the powder, and one clone inhaled the Poison Powder, becoming poisoned. However, the two Flamethrowers burned Sunflower Monster, leaving it scorched.

Benjamin remained calm. "Sunflower Monster, use Absorb on Growlithe."

Hearing this, Jun Shafeng shouted, Growlithe, use Conqueror's Haki!

Growlithe closed his eyes, focusing for a moment. An invisible pressure radiated from him, overwhelming Sunflower Monster just as it prepared to use Absorb. The high-level Pokémon wasn't knocked out, but it froze briefly under the pressure.

Seizing the moment, Jun Shafeng ordered Growlithe's two clones to use Flamethrower. Then, Growlithe tapped into its Flash Fire ability, tripling the power of its fire-type moves, and unleashed a devastating Flamethrower on the immobilized Sunflower Monster.

After the flames cleared, Sunflower Monster collapsed, covered in burns. Benjamin's calm demeanor shattered. Could that Growlithe have used a Psychic-type move like Imprison?" he muttered in disbelief, unable to think of another skill that could restrict a Pokémon's actions.

Jun Shafeng glanced at the stunned Benjamin. You should take your Pokémon to the Pokémon Center. It's badly hurt.

Snapping out of his shock, Benjamin recalled Sunflower Monster into its Poké Ball and rushed off for treatment.

At that moment, a system notification rang in Jun Shafeng's mind: [Ding! Congratulations, Growlithe has gained enough experience to reach level 22.]

Awesome! Three levels in one battle, Jun Shafeng said, looking at Growlithe, whose injuries had fully healed and stamina restored. In this world, a Pokémon's level-up completely heals its wounds and restores its energy.

After resting for ten minutes, Jun Shafeng prepared for his final match. Winning this would earn him a 3,000 Alliance Coin bonus.

A middle-aged man wearing glasses stepped onto the field, eyeing Jun Shafeng with disdain. "Kid, you're out of luck today. I've won nine beginner matches in a row. If I beat you, that'll make ten, and I'll qualify for the intermediate league with a bigger prize."

After his boast, the man threw his Poké Ball. A red light flashed, and a Marill appeared on the field.

Jun Shafeng's brows furrowed when he saw the Water-type Marill. He quickly checked its information on the system.

[Marill]

[Attribute: Water/Fairy]

[Level: 30]

[Gender: Female]

[Features: Huge Power]

[Skills: Water Gun, Rain Dance, BubbleGen Bubble, Aqua Ring]

Reading Marill's stats, Jun Shafeng realized he was up against a tough opponent this time.
