Damien kept his stance steady, back pressed against Ais and Riveria as the ring of armed adventurers tightened around them."Okay… this is gonna be tough. What do we do, Riveria?" he asked, eyes scanning the swarm of enemies closing in.
Riveria's voice was firm but tense."Damien, Ais—find an opening and escape. I'll cover you two. Go and bring support."
"No," Ais said instantly.
"Not happening, love," Damien added. "We're winning and surviving this together."
Riveria snapped, voice cracking with frustration,"No! Listen, you two! This is dangerous! Don't you understand we might die here?! You need to—"
"Riveria," Damien interrupted gently, "you'll keep my secret about that Authority thing, right?"
Riveria blinked. "What?! What does that have to—"
"Then please," Damien whispered, "keep this a secret too."
The ground beneath his feet darkened—his shadow rippling like stirred ink.It expanded outward, swirling violently before rising up in thick streams of darkness.
And from that abyss—Monsters stepped out.
Igris emerged first, towering over the adventurers, crimson eyes blazing beneath his horned helmet.
Riveria froze in horror."What… what is that?!"
Ais's grip tightened on her sword."Monsters…?"
Damien nodded. "Yeah."
A scream tore through the Ikelos ranks."WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?! DIX! LOOK OUT!"
Igris swung his sword faster than the man's eyes could track. Dix barely avoided decapitation—but the soldier behind him wasn't as lucky. The shadow knight's blade cleaved cleanly through his torso, splitting him from shoulder to hip.
Chaos erupted instantly.
"ATTACK!!" Damien shouted. "Ignore the beasts and the Knight—they're MY soldiers!"
The shadows responded to his will.
Two infant dragons leapt from Damien's darkness, wings beating violently as they roared and dived straight into the backline of mages. Fire spells exploded mid‑air as the dragons scattered their formation.
Three Minotaurs surged forward next—massive, armored brutes who slammed into the wall of Level 1s and 2s. Screams filled the air as the Minotaurs' axes crushed armor and bone with equal ease.
Hellhounds darted through the chaos, slipping between panicked boots and armored legs. They lunged at tendons, dragging adventurers down screaming as flames burst from their jaws.
The Silverback stayed glued to Riveria, intercepting every blade and arrow aimed her way. Each time it blocked, Riveria unleashed another spell—thunderous blasts, sweeping gusts, binding vines—turning the battlefield into a maelstrom.
Meanwhile, Ais and Damien carved through enemy lines with terrifying efficiency.
Ais's sword danced in arcs of silver and wind—each strike dropping an adventurer before they even processed her movement.
Damien was faster—slipping between blades, daggers flickering with lethal precision. His movements were fluid, predatory—like someone who had fought armies before.
"Dix! Sir!" a terrified soldier yelled as he barely dodged a Minotaur's swing. "This is unbelievable—they have MONSTERS fighting with them! What do we do?!"
Dix grabbed him by the collar, lifted him, and threw him straight toward the Minotaurs."Shut up and go! You're meat either way!"
The man screamed as he was caught in the jaws of a Hellhound.
Ikelos stepped forward, his voice cold, dismissive, dripping with superiority."Dix… go kill that boy. He is the one controlling those creatures. Remove him, and the Loki brats crumble as well."
Dix exhaled sharply, drawing his weapon."Fine… I'll bring you his head."
He lunged toward Damien, murderous intent blazing in his eyes
...
Damien barely twisted his head aside in time—the spear carved across his cheek, ripping flesh like paper and leaving a burning, festering agony that made his vision jolt white.
"AGHHHHHHHHH—!"
Dix slammed into the stone beside him, boots cracking the floor. His single visible eye glinted with murderous satisfaction.
"It's time to end this, kid… Death is mercy for you. I'll make sure you suffer."
He raised his massive knife—no, a slab of metal shaped like one—towering over Damien.
"Whoa there, big boy. You that salty I didn't accept your invitation?"
Dix didn't even blink at the taunt. He struck.
Fast.
Damien barely got his daggers up—CLANG! The impact sent vibrations up his arms, numbing bone, pushing him back. Dix pressed the assault, each blow heavier, sharper, more deliberate than the last. Damien dodged, flipped, rolled, using every spell, every trick in his arsenal—
—and it still wasn't enough.
'He's overpowering me…? With brute strength alone?' Damien thought, gritting his teeth.
A silent command flashed from his mind like a spark.
Igris. Assist.
A crimson flare erupted behind Dix. The Shadow Knight burst forth, sword swinging in a dark arc aimed at Dix's ribs.
Two against one.
Yet Dix did not falter—not even when Igris's blade scraped sparks off his armor. He simply reached back with a sudden, sweeping movement.
His hand closed around the buried spear behind him.
He yanked it free.
The atmosphere shifted instantly.
The spear pulsed with something cold, hateful—wrong.
Dix grinned. "Let's see how you handle this."
He spun the weapon, and Damien felt his body freeze.A split second later, agony exploded across his arm as the spear's edge grazed him—just grazed him.
The wound blackened.Festered.Burned like molten venom.
"What… the hell…?"
Dix laughed. "Hurts, doesn't it? You can't heal that. Cursed spear, kid. Every cut is forever—unless you break the weapon."
Damien staggered. Even Igris was forced back, cracks forming along his armor where the spear touched him.
But despite the agony, despite the creeping madness of pain—
Damien's eyes sharpened.
Wolf Set — Future Sight, activate.
For five seconds at a time, the world slowed.
He saw Dix's next swing. Then the next. And the next.
"Move left, Igris!"
They shifted, synchronized like sharpened gears. Damien dodged by millimeters, Igris countered at precise openings. Dix staggered—frustrated, but not panicked.
Damien saw an opening in those five seconds.
A tiny one.Barely a breath long.
He pounced.
Igris slammed down from above, forcing Dix to block. Damien cut low, sliding under the spear's trajectory—future vision guiding his every motion—
SHINK!
His dagger sliced the spear's shaft clean in two.
Dix's eye widened—
And Damien's blade buried itself deep into his chest.
A fatal blow.
Dix coughed blood, stumbling back, falling to his knees. Damien panted, on the edge of collapse, poison-pain spreading in every limb.
Yet Dix… smiled.
A horrible, satisfied smile.
"Heh… heh… You think you've won?"
His fingers twitched, and the symbol engraved into his skin glowed a sickly violet.
"Phobetor Daedalus."
The world twisted.
Pain bloomed inside Damien's skull.Rage flooded his veins.Something inside him snapped.
His vision blurred red.
Igris took a step back—reacting to the sudden killing intent pouring out of Damien.
Dix fell onto his back, laughing in triumph.
"Hahaha… go on, kid… lose yourself…"
Damien's breath turned feral.
His mind began to break
