Raymond sat heavily behind his desk, his shoulders slumped in a way Adam had never seen before. The older man's eyes were glassy, his hands trembling as he pressed his fingers against his temple.
"Adam..." His voice cracked, the word more like a plea than a greeting. He lifted his head, his expression stripped bare of pride. "It was Simon. Natalia's father. He's the one who took my daughters."
Adam froze. For a moment the name didn't register. Then his blood ran hot, fury pounding in his veins. "What? Why?"
Raymond's face paled, his lips pressing into a thin, broken line. "Revenge."
Adam's jaw clenched. "Explain."
