Chapter 20 - Chapter 18: Duel of the Force

Wind howled between the spires of Theed as Revan and Darth Maul clashed under the pale light of midmorning. Blades met with shrieking fury—blue and violet against burning crimson. Their movements were blurs, the battle a symphony of strikes, parries, and Force-fueled momentum.

Maul was faster than Revan anticipated—acrobatic, precise, and utterly without hesitation. But Revan was a master of war, trained not just in the Jedi arts but in the brutal pragmatism of galactic conflict. He gave no ground.

Each strike from Maul's double-bladed lightsaber was met with fluid counters—Revan weaving Soresu's unbreakable defense with the ferocity of Djem So. The tower shook beneath their duel. Maul attacked with spinning slashes, trying to break Revan's rhythm. Revan adapted instantly, pivoting into Jar'Kai, using both sabers in tandem to exploit Maul's open flanks.

They battled across a narrow catwalk, sparks flying with every clash. Maul ducked low, sweeping with a kick. Revan vaulted, flipping over his opponent and landing behind him, blades hissing through the air. Maul barely blocked the counterattack and hissed in frustration.

"Your strength is wasted on them," Maul growled between clashes. "You could rule beside us."

Revan pushed him back with a Force wave that cracked the nearby stone. "I've seen where that path leads. I've already walked it."

Maul snarled and flipped backward, hurling a barrage of debris with the Force. Revan stood firm, slicing each projectile in mid-air before rushing forward with blistering speed.

Just as Maul lunged for a killing blow, a vision struck Revan—two Jedi in danger.

Moments earlier, in the palace halls, Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi faced their own crisis. Cut off from the Queen's guards, they found themselves surrounded by droidekas. Shielded and heavily armed, the droids opened fire.

Qui-Gon deflected one volley, but a second barrage scorched his arm. Obi-Wan tried to leap for cover but was caught by a glancing shot.

Before the final shots could land, a wall exploded inwards—Revan stood there, cloaked in shadow and light.

His hands shot forward. With a guttural shout, he unleashed a Force Repulse that shattered the droidekas' shields and sent them tumbling like broken toys.

"Go! Help the Queen!" Revan commanded.

"What about you?" Obi-Wan asked, panting.

Revan ignited his sabers again. "I've got unfinished business."

Back at the tower, Maul was waiting—impatient and angry. He lunged, but Revan was already there.

Their blades met again in a clash of will and power. Maul used his acrobatics to flip and spin, his strikes savage and wild. Revan countered with Form V strength, pressing the Sith with relentless, crushing blows. One saber drove Maul to block high—Revan's second saber slashed low, cutting a burning gash across the Zabrak's thigh.

Maul screamed and retaliated with a Force-choke. Revan staggered for a heartbeat—then his eyes blazed, and he broke the hold with a sudden surge of Force Valor.

He leapt, flipping over Maul, blades crossing in midair, and landed behind him with a powerful kick. Maul flew forward and crashed through a support pillar, staggering to his feet with blood trailing from his mouth.

Revan advanced like a storm incarnate. He feinted left, struck right, and then brought both sabers down in a scissor slash. Maul caught them—but just barely.

Then came the final strike.

Revan disengaged, spun, and drove both sabers into the floor, channeling the Force through the stone. The shockwave erupted upward, blasting Maul into the air. As he flew, Revan lunged, striking him midair with a spinning slash that sent the Sith tumbling from the tower's edge.

Maul caught the ledge, one hand barely hanging on. He stared up at Revan, his face twisted with hate.

"You can't destroy me. The Sith... will return."

Revan stood above him, wind tugging at his dark cloak.

"Then I'll be waiting."

With a flick of his hand, he sent Maul plunging into the fires below.

Peace returned to Naboo as the Trade Federation surrendered.

Qui-Gon lived, though wounded. Obi-Wan helped him to the med bay, shaken but relieved. Amidala's bold assault succeeded in capturing the Viceroy.

Revan, ever the ghost of war, stood silently as the Queen offered her thanks. He nodded but said nothing, eyes cast toward the stars.

Somewhere far above, on Coruscant, Naruto's eyes snapped open.

He felt it.

The end of one battle… and the approach of another.

"He did it," Ahsoka whispered, sensing the shift.

Naruto nodded. "Now it begins."

The war was over.

The war had just begun.

Jedi Temple, Coruscant

News of the battle spread quickly. In the High Council Chamber, silence reigned as the holographic recording of the Naboo conflict concluded.

"Darth Maul is confirmed destroyed," Mace Windu said gravely. "But this confirms the Sith have returned."

Yoda's ears drooped slightly. "Shrouded in darkness, the future is. The shadow of the dark side, long it has grown."

Plo Koon, arms crossed, turned to face the others. "And Revan? He fought like a master. Not just a Jedi—something more."

"He saved Master Jinn and Padawan Kenobi," Ki-Adi-Mundi added. "And brought down a Sith Lord. That cannot be overlooked."

"Nor should it," Mace said, nodding. "But we must tread carefully. His past remains... complicated."

The chamber doors opened. Revan stood at the threshold, robes dusty from battle, lightsabers at his hips. His presence was calm, centered.

"I'm not here for praise," he said. "Only truth. The Sith are moving again. And if we don't prepare, the Republic will fall."

Yoda studied him, then nodded slowly. "Much to discuss, we have. Come, Revan. Join us."

As Revan stepped into the circle of Masters, Naruto and Ahsoka watched from a nearby balcony.

"He's in," Ahsoka whispered.

Naruto grinned. "Told you. Revan doesn't lose."

But deep in the Temple, a chill passed through the Force.

Sidious was watching.

And the game had only just begun.
