Wolverine had no desire to remain in a foreign universe. He had many mutant allies in his own world—here, he had nothing.
Deadpool from the main universe had no choice but to compromise. He convinced Hell's Kitchen Deadpool and Wolverine to accompany him to persuade yet another variant of Logan from a parallel universe. Wolverine, of course, wasn't interested at first.
The only reason he got involved at all was because Deadpool had desecrated the corpse of another world's Logan. But Hell Deadpool, deeply intrigued by the multiverse, dragged Wolverine into the next universe without even waiting for consent.
After a mix of coercion and manipulation from all sides, Wolverine—the version often joked about as the most irritable—was finally dragged to the Time Variance Authority by the trio, still hoping to save the main universe Deadpool's world.
But then, Mr. Paradox ambushed them. With zero regard for any moral code, he triggered a temporal rupture and flung the four of them into the Void.
In the nothingness of that place, they first encountered a foul-mouthed Human Torch from an alternate universe.
Then came a renegade team of mutants who immediately tried to capture them. At first, Deadpool had high hopes for the Human Torch's abilities—until he got steamrolled by another pyrokinetic mutant: Pyro.
The whole team—Deadpools, Wolverine, and Human Torch—was captured.
And that led us back to the beginning—when Deadpool first showed up to save Alex Ray.
(You don't understand—I thought the guy was Captain America at first. I was ready for a heroic "Avengers Assemble!" But nope—he's the Human Torch. What a letdown. I've never been this disappointed in Steve Rogers.)
HELL'S KITCHEN
"So... does anyone want to go in and help?" Alex Ray asked, his gaze sweeping across the room.
The upscale restaurant was packed. Not only were the X-Men there, but so were Wanda, Tony, Daredevil, and others.
Yet when Alex brought up the possibility of heading into the Void to rescue Deadpool and Logan, the crowd fell quiet. No one seemed eager—except for the X-Men, and even they were mostly concerned about Logan. Deadpool? Just collateral.
Alex shook his head. "So... not many fans of Deadpool, huh?"
"Hey," Pietro added casually, "Deadpool and Wolverine can't really die anyway. They'll be fine. Just leave them."
A few heads nodded in agreement. To them, those two were basically immortal. If it had been anyone else, they'd already have launched a rescue op.
"I'm out," said Stephen Strange, opening a portal. "I just got back."
He stepped through into Kamar-Taj, but not before glancing back. After battling Thanos, Strange was more aware than ever of his own limitations. He planned to train with the Ancient One again—especially in mastering the Time Stone.
Also, after watching the Loki timeline unfold, he knew just how dangerous the Void could be.
As Strange vanished, others began making excuses to leave.
Even Matt Murdock—Daredevil—stood up. "Sorry, work's a nightmare. I've got three trials this week."
Ever since he joined Hell's Kitchen, Inc., the law firm had been flooded with cases. Matt preferred litigation over violence these days.
But he stopped in his tracks at Alex Ray's next sentence.
"I heard Deadpool ran into Elektra in the Void."
"What?!"
Matt spun around, heart racing. "I'm in," he said without hesitation.
Every doubt, every rational excuse, every concern fell away. Only one thought remained: Elektra's alive.
In this universe, Elektra—Matt's ex and junior martial arts partner—died during a mission gone wrong. It haunted him every day. The possibility of seeing her again shattered his defenses.
"And Charles, you're going too," Alex said, locking eyes with Professor Xavier.
Charles blinked. "Me? I already sent the X-Men. That's enough, isn't it?"
He couldn't understand why Alex insisted he join. Surely his students were more than capable.
Alex met his gaze with unnerving calm. "They encountered someone powerful."
That only made Charles more skeptical. "If you can't handle it, I doubt I could. I've got other duties. Hogwarts College is still under construction—"
"It's your sister," Alex interrupted. "Nova. She's your biological sister."
The room fell into a stunned silence.
Professor X had a sister?
Magneto's expression was one of disbelief. He'd known Charles for decades. Respected him more than most. But even he hadn't heard anything about a sister.
Hell, even Charles didn't know.
"That's impossible," the professor whispered.
Alex continued, "In another universe, you two are twins. But she was taken to the Void as a child. You've been alone ever since. She's known about you the whole time."
In the comics, Cassandra Nova—a terrifying mutant telepath—was capable of erasing entire populations. Her telepathy surpassed Charles'. She once attempted to strangle him in the womb. Her regeneration was nearly on par with Wolverine and Deadpool.
Charles listened in silence. He wasn't sure if what Alex said was true, but he trusted Alex not to lie—not about something like this.
He finally gave a quiet nod. "I'll go."
Magneto didn't hesitate either. "Then I'm coming too."
The interest in his old friend's family was clear. And besides, Magneto didn't trust anyone else to mediate what would surely be a violent reunion.
Alex nodded. He didn't plan to bring a huge group. The Void was dangerous—not just due to Nova, but because of its ruler.
This was Loki's domain now—the God of Stories. And even Alex Ray, for all his powers, wasn't yet a match for that version of Loki.
So it was better to move carefully.
"The team's set," he said. "Let's move out."
