"In that battle, Alex Ray could be said to have earned an honorable defeat. The war spanned nearly a hundred years, leaving tens of thousands of multiverses in ruins.
Alex fought and retreated, again and again. And in the end, when there was nowhere left to run, he faced the One-Above-All head-on—and killed the Five Great Cosmic Entities. Ultimately, he died from exhaustion."
"If the One-Above-All hadn't been present, the entire Marvel Universe might have collapsed," Loki said, his voice low with reverence and memory.
"Mephisto was beaten so severely he's still recovering in his hell dimension. Even Emperor Doom and the Kang Dynasty suffered catastrophic losses."
"At the time," Loki continued, "I had already ascended to the position of God of Stories. I couldn't move. Even if I had wanted to help, I couldn't—and Alex refused my help anyway." Loki offered a weary smile, a trace of guilt in his tone. "I wasn't bluffing. If I had left my place, the entire multiverse would've unraveled."
Alex Ray now had only one judgment for his past self: Alex Ray.
And his death had not been in vain.
None of the entities mentioned were foes Alex could afford to provoke—not with his current strength. At best, he might hold his own against the Council of Reeds, but challenging them all alone? Impossible.
It's widely known that in Marvel's power hierarchy, the One-Above-All sits at the top.
Also known as the God of All Things, the One-Above-All exists as a being beyond the comprehension of time and space. Comparable in concept to omnipotent creators in mythologies across multiverses, OAA transcends the linear timeline—past, present, and future are simply facets of a single moment to Him. Every corner of the universe, no matter how remote or hidden, exists under His omniscient gaze.
He is the supreme architect of all things within the Marvel Multiverse. The trajectories of stars, the birth and death of galaxies, the rise and collapse of civilizations—all of it flows from His will.
The Living Tribunal, the so-called ultimate arbiter of balance, is but a servant to OAA. His existence predates time and runs deeper than the foundation of reality.
Which means: Alex had once lived—and died—within His domain.
As for the Five Great Cosmic Entities, anyone even mildly familiar with Marvel lore would recognize them. They're not new faces.
Collectively known as the Five Great Creation Gods of the Universe, their names are:
Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds
Death, the Mistress of Souls
Eternity, the Embodiment of Time
Infinity, the Embodiment of Space
Oblivion (often confused with Annihilation), the Avatar of Nothingness
Each of them embodies a fundamental force of existence. Together, they maintain universal balance and cosmic structure.
Galactus consumes entire planets to maintain cosmic equilibrium. In his true form, his energy is limitless.
Death, not merely an end, is the origin and destination of all souls. Her presence introduces mortality into the universe. The concept of death, of finality, exists solely because of her.
Even someone as mad and powerful as Thanos became her servant—seeking her attention, her affection.
Eternity, the pluralistic abstraction of time itself, is a living manifestation of the universe's lifespan. He has witnessed the birth and death of countless universes. He can halt, bend, or fast-forward time with a mere thought.
His body is the universe. Even his smallest avatar contains the power to reboot entire realities.
Infinity and Oblivion—both abstract entities—wield strength beyond calculation. Their true forms are incomprehensible, their powers infinite. But they seldom intervene directly, typically indifferent to the squabbles within the Marvel Universe.
Alex didn't even dare imagine facing beings like them.
He wouldn't even see them coming—he'd be erased long before he ever caught a glimpse.
And the rest? They weren't any less terrifying.
There was the Sleeping God—a divine being with power that rivaled primordial chaos itself. In the pantheon of Marvel's deities, he shone like the brightest star among the old gods.
But before the One-Above-All, he was just a mote of light.
And even that mote—less than one-tenth of his power—was enough to collapse galaxies.
The so-called "Earth gods," who prided themselves on divine lineage and cosmic feats? Their power, when gathered, was barely a stream—easily dispersed by the flick of a finger from the Sleeping God.
In the cosmic hierarchy, the Sleeping God stood just beneath OAA.
Then came the Original Transcendent—an existence venerated across the multiverse. He had no body, only essence. He was pure energy, beyond the concept of life or death.
Atoms, molecules, entire dimensions—he controlled them like building blocks. The birth or annihilation of multiverses was to him what blinking is to a man.
His power is the most mysterious and unfathomable source in all of Marvel. Even the Five Great Entities could not rival him.
Compared to such beings, factions like the Kang Dynasty, the Council of Reeds, or God Emperor Doom were barely a blip.
Sure, they caused chaos—often vast and deadly. But in the grand scale of multiversal power?
They were gnats before hurricanes. A mantis trying to stop a war tank.
If the Kang Dynasty is the big bad of Avengers 5 and 6, then the gods Alex had fought wouldn't show up until Avengers 20 or beyond.
Alex had no hesitation calling his past self the strongest human in Marvel's history.
Because none of the beings mentioned above were human.
What haunted him now was this: What had his past self done to provoke all these divine powers into action?
Not even Deadpool, who once massacred the Marvel Universe itself, had caused such a reaction.
Not even Kang, who tried to rewrite the multiverse, had drawn this kind of divine wrath.
To the gods, ruling the universe was a child's game.
So what did Alex Ray do that crossed the line?
He had a theory. A creeping suspicion.
Whatever it was, it had violated something sacred. A rule so ancient, so hidden, even the gods feared it.
Whatever the past Alex had touched, it wasn't just power—it was truth. Forbidden, untouchable truth.
His strength had clearly surpassed anything Alex currently possessed. That much was obvious.
And now, he desperately wanted answers.
Loki, standing beside him, seemed to sense his thoughts.
"I don't know," Loki said with a soft sigh. "I can't know."
Alex's expression twisted with frustration.
But then Loki suddenly raised a hand.
With a flick of his fingers, an envelope shimmered into existence—materializing from nothing.
"Perhaps," Loki said, eyes gleaming with mischief, "Alex Ray can give you the answers himself."
