Chapter 44- Why Are You Staring?

Alpha Kael didn't wait for them.
He didn't glance back.
He didn't say a word.
He just turned around and started walking away.
To where?
Only the moon goddess knows.
I didn't move.
It was like my feet had been nailed to the floor. My legs weren't working, and my brain wasn't thinking straight either. I just stood there, frozen, staring at the room he left behind.
Staring at the door the guards had disappeared into.
What were they going to bring out?
What did they find in there?
Was Layla still alive?
My eyes drifted to the stains of blood on Alpha Kael's Boot and Cloth.
Did he kill her?
That thought made my stomach twist.
Was she still breathing in there, or had she been reduced to… pieces?
The Alpha brothers… they're so cold. So brutal. And this… this was what they did to a wolf with some rank. Layla wasn't just some street mutt. She had status—small, yes—but it still meant something.
And they still didn't care.
