Chapter 49- Lies Upon Lies

My mouth dropped open.
I… I couldn't believe what I just heard.
Did the guard just accuse me of trying to seduce him? Did those words actually come out of his mouth?
"What?" I whispered, blinking in disbelief.
Why is he lying? What kind of wicked game is this?
"I didn't seduce you!" I snapped before I could even stop myself. "Why would I seduce you? I don't even know you!"
My voice trembled as I faced him, and I looked straight into his disgusting eyes.
"I just got here. I don't even know where Alpha Kael keeps his valuables, so how—how could I be trying to seduce you for something I don't even know exists?!"
I turned quickly to face Alpha Kael, hoping—praying—he'd see the truth.
But he said nothing.
His silence scared me more than the guard's lies.
My knees felt weak. My chest was tight.
He's not saying anything.
Does that mean he believes him?
Am I going to be punished?
