Chapter 217 - Chapter 217: The Experiment Succeeds

Dr. Otto's experiment began.

More than a dozen mechanical tentacles extended from the laboratory equipment, starting to work according to Dr. Otto's mental commands.

Marcus and the others stood with Dr. Otto outside the laboratory, observing through blast-proof glass and the mechanical tentacles' monitoring systems.

"This time, with the Osborn Group's help, I've turned the laboratory into a containment chamber. The artificial sun's experimental equipment is also fitted with safety measures. As soon as tritium is released, protective barriers will activate as primary protection!"

To ensure the experiment's success, Dr. Otto had put tremendous effort into safety issues, and these barriers were the best proof of that.

Following Dr. Otto's control, the mechanical tentacles began moving in sequence, like creating mechanical life.

The artificial sun's experimental equipment slowly opened, entering operational mode and waiting for tritium release.

Click. Click. Click.

A mechanical tentacle extended a tiny claw and extracted tritium from a device in the corner.

"Gentlemen, please witness the arrival of the new era!"

Dr. Otto spoke confidently, and the mechanical tentacles remained stable despite his words, continuing to move smoothly toward the equipment.

This experiment was almost identical to the previous one, which was normal. After all, this was core experimental technology. Even if Dr. Otto wanted to optimize it, successfully doing so in such a short time would be impossible.

The tritium element was delivered into the device by mechanical tentacles and floated in the air under the device's powerful magnetic field constraint.

"Next step—activate the laser system!"

As Dr. Otto's voice fell, laser beams shot out instantly, firing at the suspended tritium from all directions.

Under the high thermal energy released by the laser beams, the tritium element successfully ignited and gradually expanded under the strong magnetic field's confinement.

In the blink of an eye, a small sun over two meters in diameter appeared before everyone. Through the monitors, everyone could clearly see the miniature star continuously emitting heat.

"The experiment is half successful! Now we just need to wait for the artificial sun to stabilize completely!"

Dr. Otto looked excitedly at the monitoring screens, which transmitted views from all directions through the mechanical tentacles, fully displaying the entire artificial sun.

After admiring his masterpiece for a while, Dr. Otto finally began the next phase.

He pressed buttons on the equipment in front of him, and in the laboratory, the mechanical tentacles became busy, opening auxiliary equipment from various locations around the artificial sun.

With the auxiliary equipment's addition, the original experimental apparatus expanded outward and completely integrated with the support systems.

Soon, a spherical device like a containment net formed in the laboratory, with the artificial sun wrapped inside it.

Everyone could clearly see that the moment the spherical device activated, the artificial sun entered a rapid stabilization state.

"Success!!!"

A researcher's surprised shout triggered cheers from all the staff.

Dr. Otto even removed the controller from his head and looked at everyone with a smile.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I declare our experiment a success! We have now opened the door to a new world!"

Following his announcement, everyone cheered excitedly.

Not only the staff members who had originally followed Dr. Otto in research participated, but also quite a few Osborn Group employees, and even Harry was cheering shoulder-to-shoulder with Peter.

The successful test meant the Osborn Group could return to the top.

"Excellent! The Osborn Group hasn't fallen under my leadership!" Harry shouted excitedly. "I announce that all researchers present will receive a $50,000 bonus, and key participants in this experiment will each receive $2 million!"

These words instantly fired up the researchers' enthusiasm. They hadn't expected the new boss to be so generous.

Even researchers who only did auxiliary work on this project would receive a $50,000 bonus.

For all researchers, this was an exceptionally generous reward.

As for the researchers who had been participating in this research from the beginning, they had other rewards besides the $2 million bonus, but those were separate matters. At least now their long research efforts had paid off.

"Dr. Otto, what's the power output of your little sun?"

An elderly gentleman approached and asked Dr. Otto quietly.

This was a serious issue. If the artificial sun couldn't meet expectations, then the Osborn Group's investment would be a failed venture. As steward of the Osborn family, he had to confirm this.

"On that point, you can rest assured. A stable artificial sun can guarantee energy consumption for four states—and I'm referring to states full of heavy industry."

Dr. Otto had already calculated the artificial sun's energy output.

According to his calculations, it could conservatively provide energy for four states.

These words made the butler nod slowly. This energy output was substantial. Even with just one artificial sun, it could guarantee normal profits for the Osborn Group.

What's more, they now had sufficient capability to create additional artificial suns.

Soon Earth would enter a new era under the Osborn Group's leadership.

Both parties were very satisfied. Not only could they gain rich benefits, but they could also become world-famous.

Just as everyone was contemplating the future, the laboratory's glass suddenly shattered, and mechanical tentacles came through the window.

"What?!"

Screams echoed through the laboratory as everyone dodged flying glass shards.

Then a humanoid octopus came through the window—it was Kraken, searching for energy items.

"Ha! Looks like I arrived just in time!"

He looked around the laboratory and immediately spotted Marcus standing there.

"Seems the goddess of luck is on my side. Not only did I find this sun-like treasure, but I also encountered this guy."

He still remembered Marcus—the one who'd beaten them so badly that some people were left paralyzed.

Whoosh!

Mechanical tentacles rushed toward Marcus, whistling through the air.

"Look out!"

Dr. Otto shouted. He thought highly of Marcus, who possessed extensive nuclear fusion knowledge, and didn't want him killed like this.

While shouting, he put on his helmet and controlled the laboratory's mechanical tentacles, sending them to intercept the tentacle attacking Marcus.

But Kraken's speed was faster than his actions. Before his tentacles could respond, the mechanical arms behind Kraken had already reached Marcus.

However, Dr. Otto was stunned by what happened next.

Clap!

Marcus raised his hand and caught the incoming mechanical tentacle. While the tentacle's strength was tremendous, it couldn't overcome Marcus's armor.

After all, it was vibranium—it could perfectly resist even Thor's hammer blows.
