Chapter 420 - Chapter 420: Rescue

When tracking the summoners, Selina had heard their plans in detail.

Although these people hadn't discussed too much about the overall plan, they'd talked carefully about when to perform the summoning.

"Less than an hour?" Bruce stood up immediately.

They didn't have much time left. If they couldn't arrive before the summoning, those girls might really become sacrifices.

"That's right. After all, six o'clock is dusk—it's the best time to summon evil spirits," Selina explained.

Hearing this, Bruce nodded gently. He understood now.

The location, time, and sacrifices these people had selected were all carefully considered. All these conditions combined would greatly increase their chances of successfully summoning demons.

"Let's go now. Also, notify the others to pay attention to demon activity!"

To deal with a few demon summoners, they didn't need everyone mobilized at once, but it was better to notify the team anyway. If they needed help, others could arrive quickly.

Soon, a platform suddenly appeared on the calm lake surface. A fighter plane flew out from it and soared into the sky.

After seeing Bruce and Selina off, Alfred pressed the button beside him. As the lake surged, the platform gradually disappeared beneath the water.

"Seems like this old man has work to do too," Alfred muttered.

He didn't act alongside Bruce and Selina. Most of his work was remote assistance—he hadn't participated in actual combat for a long time.

Walking to the wall of monitors, Alfred picked up the phone while watching the screens.

Just as Bruce had said, he needed to inform everyone about finding the demon summoners so they could be prepared.

"...Master Barry, this is the situation. If Master Bruce needs support, please rush over as soon as possible!"

"Don't worry, I'm very fast. If they can't hold out, just send a distress signal and I'll be there in a flash," Barry replied while eating pizza at home.

Because of his superpowers, he'd been greatly improved in all aspects, which caused his metabolic rate to be far higher than ordinary people's.

So although he looked thin, he had a huge appetite. He needed to replenish lots of energy to ensure normal activity.

After hanging up, Barry stuffed an entire pizza into his mouth and opened another box.

Of course, his eating didn't stop him from changing—all his regular clothes disappeared and transformed into The Flash's suit.

"Finally found the demon summoners. As long as they're caught, we can interrogate them about who's behind this. Central City and even the whole world will be safer, and I can focus on my father's case."

In his childhood, his father had been imprisoned for allegedly killing his mother.

But Barry knew better than anyone that his mother wasn't killed by his father. After seeing his mother's body, his father had become completely broken.

However, no one would believe a child's words. The court had compared fingerprints on the knife that killed his mother and determined his father was the murderer.

Originally, Barry had no clue about his mother's death. But since gaining the Speed Force and super speed, he'd developed a theory.

Maybe whoever killed his mother also had super speed like him. As long as he found the real murderer, his father could be cleared and released from prison.

"I'll definitely get you out properly, Dad," Barry said, looking at his parents' photo with clenched fists and a determined expression.

It wasn't that he hadn't thought about using his super speed to break his father out of prison.

But what would be the point? His father's crime wouldn't be cleared—he'd still be a criminal charged with killing his mother. Moreover, doing so would give his father a new crime: prison escape.

What Barry wanted was for his father to walk out of prison with his head held high, not hide around the world as a wanted criminal.

On the other side, Oliver—Green Arrow of Star City—and Clark—Superman of Metropolis—also received news from Alfred. Although they weren't as calm as Barry, they all prepared themselves.

Especially Oliver. He'd given up his nightly vigilante activities and sat directly in his private plane, ready to take off at any moment.

After all, compared to demons, Star City's problems were nothing. Once those demons were dealt with, he could focus more on Star City's issues. For now, those criminals could have a temporary break.

There was no one else on the private plane except Oliver. The aircraft was small enough for him to pilot alone, and it contained lots of equipment he'd specially prepared.

He wouldn't fall behind others in destroying demons.

As for Clark, things were much easier. Clark flew rapidly through Metropolis, patrolling every street.

He didn't know whether his godfather's students would need help, but he had to be prepared. However, before receiving a distress signal, he needed to patrol Metropolis again to ensure it was safe enough.

His actions weren't concealed. Everyone in Metropolis could see a red and blue figure passing overhead. This scene was also witnessed by someone from LexCorp.

"Our Superman has been very active recently. Is he looking for something?" Lex Luthor mused, sitting on his sofa and looking out the window before turning his attention to the computer screen before him.

The screen displayed all kinds of information about Clark. Although Clark had hidden things well, he'd inevitably revealed some details.

Luthor had carefully excavated from this information and finally obtained what was now displayed.

"Speaking of which, except for being Kryptonian, Superman is no different from an ordinary Earthling..."

He had a fairly clear understanding of Clark's identity information, but he hadn't chosen to act yet.

He was very smart, and smart people didn't put themselves in desperate situations. So he wouldn't act immediately unless he had the power to compete with or even kill Superman.

"However, Superman actually has a godfather, and this information..." Luthor studied the data about Marcus's identity.

The moment he'd seen this information, he'd discovered the identity was forged—the person's true identity couldn't be traced at all.

Most importantly, the identity information about Marcus was also connected to another person's identity.

"This guy is quite interesting. Not only is his identity fake, but he's also connected to Gotham's Dark Knight."

He knew Bruce's identity, and he even knew Selina's identity very clearly.

Although he'd only guessed their identities, he believed in his own judgment. After all, he'd deduced it based on various clues.

Looking at Marcus's information, Luthor fell into deep thought. He had a feeling this mysterious man was very important and definitely not someone he could afford to provoke.

"Interesting, very interesting. I will definitely find out your identity," he murmured.

Constantine and Diana also received calls from Alfred, but because they were too far away, they weren't prepared to provide support.

Diana was better off. As Zeus's daughter, she could ride lightning. Although it would take considerable effort to arrive, she could still make it.

As for Constantine, he definitely couldn't get there. After all, he didn't have a fighter plane like Bruce. If he tried to provide support, Bruce and the others would probably be dead by the time he arrived.

Of course, he could also teleport through magic like Marcus did.

But he would never choose that kind of teleportation. After all, it involved using the space between Hell and the human world to move.

He'd have to enter Hell first, then return to Earth from Hell.

It sounded simple, but for anyone, it was tantamount to suicide. This was especially true for him—after all, Satan was still waiting for his soul in Hell.

"Sorry, Alfred. I may not be able to provide physical support, but I can give them remote guidance. Although I may not be able to defeat demons, I can definitely help them hold out for a while."

"I understand. And even if you could provide support, it wouldn't make much sense. After all, your strength lies in your brain rather than combat prowess!" Alfred said with a smile.

Among everyone, Constantine might be the one who played the biggest role. His knowledge about demons was their most important support. After all, Constantine was an expert exorcist.

After hanging up, Alfred connected Bruce's communicator.

"Master, everyone has been notified. If you need help, everyone can provide support at any time."

"Good. Selina and I are ready to land. I hope the demons we face this time aren't too strong!"

Responding to Alfred, Bruce controlled the fighter to descend.

When the aircraft reached a certain altitude, Bruce released the controls and said into the communicator, "The Batfighter is yours, Alfred!"

As he spoke, both of them jumped directly from the plane. This height wasn't dangerous for them—their combat suits could fully support this maneuver.

THUD... THUD...

With two muffled sounds, Bruce and Selina landed one after another.

"Let's go. Those guys' base is in that abandoned factory over there!" Selina said, pointing.

Looking in the direction she indicated, Bruce saw the abandoned factory.

It was indeed a good hiding place. After all, no one would go all the way to an abandoned factory for no reason.

"Check equipment. We're ready to move!"

Bruce began walking toward the abandoned factory while checking his own gear.

Selina did the same. This was a tacit understanding they'd developed over many years.

Soon, both had checked their equipment and arrived at the abandoned factory.

The two didn't choose to enter through the main gate. They exchanged glances, jumped together, and climbed high onto the factory's roof.

"Follow me. The girls are over there," Selina whispered, leading Bruce to the location she'd scouted earlier.

While they moved, inside the abandoned factory, several demon summoners were drawing magic circles on cleared ground to summon demons.

"Hurry up! Time's almost up. After drawing these, we still need to deal with those girls!" a voice echoed through the factory, urging the others.

After all, they were approaching the critical moment of summoning—they couldn't have any problems.

The people drawing the magic circle didn't respond but worked much faster.

The girls imprisoned in cages all cried anxiously. They'd thought of many possibilities, but they hadn't expected these people kidnapped them just to do something only cult members would do.

They were being used as sacrifices, and the magic circle about to be completed would become their grave.

They wanted to cry out but couldn't. To prevent their crying from attracting attention, their mouths were all gagged tightly. They couldn't make a sound at all.

The girls could only wash their faces with tears and wait for death in despair.

THUD~

A slight sound rang out. One girl suddenly saw a woman who looked like a cat gently landing before them.

"Shh~"

Selina put her finger to her lips, signaling the girls not to be surprised, then swayed toward the cage.

The cage was locked tight, but it wasn't difficult for her at all. After all, she was a famous thief.

After fiddling with the lock a few times, it opened. This action made more girls notice her.

Selina smiled and signaled them not to move, then began untying the girls. A battle was about to happen here—the girls needed to get to a safer place.

Footsteps gradually approached, making many girls anxious. If those people discovered them, they'd definitely die.

Just as a demon summoner approached the iron cage, he saw a black shadow appear, covering his mouth and dragging him into darkness.

Soon, a muscular figure walked out of the shadows. At first glance, he resembled the cat-like Selina, but looking closely, there was a bat symbol on his chest.

"Batman?" This was what all the girls were thinking.

After all, they'd heard the legend of Gotham's Dark Knight since they were young. After confirming Bruce's identity, the woman rescuing them became clear too.

The sister helping them was someone they admired most—Catwoman.

"Hurry up. Those people will notice soon!" Bruce whispered, then returned to the dark corner to provide cover for Selina.

Several demon summoners waited for a while but didn't see the man who'd gone to fetch a girl return. They were confused.

"What's wrong with that guy? We're about to start summoning—why hasn't he brought them here?"
