Chapter 4 - Betrayed by Fate

An hour had already passed and Eloise found herself outside her home.

It was close to the main road, so it was easy to get a cab to her new working place.

She stood at the side of the road, with a dazzling expression on her face.

Wearing a white top within a black suit jacket, below a black skirt that barely made it past her knees, and finally a black hills. She was the spinning image of an idol.

Her thick black hair danced in the flow of the wind, shimmering with the rays of the sun on her face. Although she wore a sunglasses, but it was still taking a hit on her skin.

Without a second, she pulled over a cab and quickly entered it.

The hotel which she was going to was just a thirty minutes drive from her apartment. It was a trekable distance, but since it was her first day, she had to make otherwise.

Thirty minutes later, she arrival at a massive building. It wasn't the hotel, but a mall.

Eloise stopped at the mall, because she didn't want to use a cab to stop at the front of the hotel.

It was as though, if she wasn't the one driving then it wouldn't be appropriate. This was her own ideology, although that wasn't the only reason they stopped at the mall.

It was not far from the hotel, and just a few minutes walk.

Eloise main objective for stopping at the mall was to get a mouth freshener. She had already run out from the one she had in her hand bag, and didn't want to risk not carrying one with her.

It was her first day, so she didn't want to make any mistakes. The first impression is always the main thing, as the saying goes.

Entering the mall, she was greeted with a massive view. The place was astonishing with different products placed on shelf's displaying their elegant structure and brand.

"Wow!"

Eloise, had her mouth opened as she gazed upon the beautiful scenery before her. It was her first time in the mall, as it was not a place that she could normally go to when she wants to get something.

Basically, this place was known as the big city side of the city she lives in. It was not her first time in the big city, but was still excited. After all, it wasn't easy to land a job in the big city.

Eloise quickly composed herself, and began walking in an elegant manner. Her dressing and figure, were so fitted that if one did know see her, they could simply mistake her as the owner of the mall.

After all, there is a saying, 'if you don't have anything, act like own everything.'

In truth, she looked stunning, and with the shades she had on, it was as if she was a model that was walking in for a live show.

While still savoring what she couldn't own, Eloise heard whispers coming from her sides.

"Wow… who is that? She's so beautiful."

"Look at her legs."

"Is she a model?"

This whispers caught her ear, making her to instantly feel flustered.

'Oh wow, are they talking about me?' she wondered, while she quickly carried herself high.

"I think she's the owner of this place. I mean just look at her bag, those look very expensive."

"Yeah I know right?"

The murmuring continued, and Eloise was already feeling high and mighty.

'Are they complementing my bag.' She thought, as she used a side eye to look at it. 'Hmph, expensive? This was the first bag I ever brought after my uni days. It was on sales so I got it for a very affordable price. I know the texture looks nice, but expensive… ha.'

Eloise expressed the truth to herself, while accepting all their calms and ideas. Her head was already filling when suddenly.

*push*

She wa hit by a certain lady, who was carrying a black vintage bag that looked indeed 'expensive'.

"Can't you watch where you are standing?" The lady who hit Eloise uttered, while she passed without even looking back, with two other ladies following behind her.

"Ha!"

Eloise growled, as she tried to gain her balance, so she wouldn't kill her moment, when suddenly she heard it.

"Would you look at that. I told you she must be the own of this place."

"Did you see how she brushed that lady like she was nothing?"

"Yeah… she definitely own this place."

Eloise was dumbfounded as heard this. She quickly stared at the legs of the lady who just hit her. It was smooth and thin.

And that was when everything became clear. She wasn't the one they were referring to from the beginning.

It was the lady who was dressed like a boss lady. The one who perhaps own the mall she's was in right now.

Gathering all these facts and putting it together, Eloise head nearly exploded

Eloise became upset at herself, or more specific at everything. One moment of joy had turned into not-joy moment.

"Haha!"

She laughed softly.

"You have done it… fate. You have done it again. It is fair play."

Her voice was trembling, as she felt as if the world was against her. It wasn't her best time yet, but she would beat the feeling of being betrayed.

Eloise composed herself and quickly went to take what she came her for. Shd found a section of mentos and instantly took two, and when to pay.

Soon after she came out of the mall. She brought out a napkin from her bag, raised her shades and cleaned her eyes.

"Sigh~"

"It time to head out now."

Eloise began walking at the side of the road, that would lead her to the hotel. It was a straight and simple road, so it was easy to reach.

Although, on her way, a certain sign caught her eye at the corner of a building, it was flashing and tempting as it was not something one would see everytime and it read.

"Is that a… Fortune Teller?"
