Chapter 74 - R15. The Invincible Girl

R15. The Invincible Girl

Throwing Cecilus' corpse into the pit formed from the battle, the girl staggered as she stood up.

At this moment, Reinhild was covered in wounds—so many that even she hadn't expected to be so severely injured.

Her body was slashed all over, and the knight's white uniform was stained red with both enemy and her own blood.

Though utterly exhausted, Reinhild had no intention of resting.

Holding the drawn Dragon Sword, she moved toward where the Rabbits had appeared, leaving the battlefield.

The micro spirits in the air began to heal her physical injuries, which could be easily mended—but the mental fatigue was far harder to eliminate.

Reinhild could feel her divine protections gradually reviving.

Looking at the Dragon Sword in her hand, she showed a confident smile.

Reinhild was certain that at this very moment, she was even stronger than when she first left the mansion.

In just a few minutes, she saw the village that had been completely devoured.

Though her wounds were not fully healed, the girl still raised her sword.

Mana in the atmosphere rapidly gathered toward the Dragon Sword.

The space itself seemed unable to bear the sword's presence and shattered apart.

"What a monster, acting purely on instinct."

Reinhild looked at the flood of Rabbits running out of the village.

Their numbers were so vast, they looked like a white tidal wave moving toward her.

The girl's expression turned firm.

Such a natural disaster should not exist in this world.

Slightly adjusting her sword's angle, she slashed.

In that instant, the world before Reinhild was destroyed—literally reduced to nothingness.

A terrifying burst of magical energy exploded. In that moment, the world restarted.

The northeastern swamp of Astrea disappeared, replaced by a blooming flower-covered plain.

"Rabbits!!?"

Sensing danger by instinct, Reinhild swung her sword.

Looking at the corpses of the Rabbits on the ground, she noticed the overwhelming numbers still surrounding her.

In that moment, Reinhild tilted her head in confusion, then once again gripped the Dragon Sword.

In the next second, the roar of battle echoed across the plains.

"Magic ore."

After eliminating the Rabbits in front of her, Reinhild searched the area where they had reappeared.

She found a piece of magic ore emitting mana.

Seeing the Rabbits swarming around the ore, Reinhild suddenly recalled the rumor that Rabbits are drawn to places with abundant mana.

—Someone diverted the Rabbits using magic ore!

Frowning, Reinhild looked at the Rabbits devouring the magic ore.

But she quickly remembered that Rabbits operated with a collective consciousness.

—Should I wait for them to finish eating the ore and regroup before wiping them out in one go?

But thinking of Otto's report about the abnormal quantity of magic ore and the tense current situation, Reinhild immediately rejected that idea and sighed.

—Judging from earlier, the mana contained in my sword strikes exceeds that of the magic ore.

The Dragon Sword swung once more.

In that instant, the White Rabbit—one of the three great magical beasts that had ravaged the continent for 400 years—was completely wiped from history.

But even having accomplished such a grand feat, the girl felt no joy in her heart.

Her face was full of sorrow.

Looking at the remains of the villagers scattered across the land, the girl subconsciously walked toward them.

But remembering the time lost in eradicating the Rabbits, she bit her lip and stood up.

"I'm sorry. When this is all over, I will come back and bury you."

She said this, then left behind a sword scar.

That sword scar would instinctively strike fear into any creature that saw it.

The girl bowed deeply toward the dead, then quickly left the scene.

In the northwest, magical beasts were still rampaging.

But magical beasts, after all, were not like Rabbits—limitless in number.

Even the strongest beast tamers could only control so many.

By the time Reinhild arrived, only a few powerful magical beasts were still standing.

Around them were countless corpses of mercenaries and civilians with weapons.

"Erin..."

Reinhild softly called the name of the subordinate who was supposed to have arrived before her.

In the next moment, the girl dropped from the sky and landed on the ground.

The charge of a rock boar—known for defense and strength—was stopped with one hand by the girl.

Then, using her left hand formed into a blade, she struck down on the boar.

The beast, impervious to swords and spears, was split in two by what looked like a joke of an attack.

Several surviving powerful magical beasts on the scene stared blankly at the girl.

In the next instant, they turned and fled toward the outskirts of the city in panic.

But before they could run far, their bodies were sliced in half—cut down by weapons Reinhild had casually picked up and thrown.

Having resolved all the magical beasts in an instant, Reinhild looked around at the corpses.

The scene wasn't nearly as gruesome and bloody as what the Rabbits had caused, but the impact it left on Reinhild was far stronger—because she knew every person in her territory.

She could name every single corpse lying here.

There were mercenaries she had come to know, full of dreams.

There were "criminals" she had saved.

There were kids she had brought out of the slums.

There were thieves who turned to crime during their fathers' downfalls, just to survive.

In the next moment, the girl dry-heaved again.

"Lady Reinhild."

"I'm fine. By the way, have Erin and the others not appeared?"

Hearing the worried voice of a city official behind her, Reinhild asked.

"Lady Reinhild, other than you, we haven't seen any reinforcements."

"I see."

Reinhild understood in her heart—if they hadn't arrived by now, then most likely, they were already dead.

She looked around, then said to the official:

"Bury them. Then report the damage to the Astrea mansion."

After speaking, the girl suddenly appeared behind a blue-haired girl.

This was the only girl Reinhild didn't recognize.

Using her divine protection of Judgment, she confirmed the girl had the Divine Protection of Beast Control.

"You're the beast tamer responsible for those monsters in the sky, aren't you?"

"Meili doesn't know what you're talking about."

The temporary Divine Protection of Wind-Seer clearly revealed the wind of lies on the girl's body.

"I can see through lies. Tell me, who sent you?"

"Do you think I'd say it? If I told you, mother would definitely kill me."

"I see."

Reinhild hesitated for a moment looking at the girl, but seeing the corpses all around, she gripped her sword.

"If you answer me now, I might consider sparing you."

"Too bad. Meili knows nothing. I'm just carrying out mother's orders."

Reinhild understood—the girl truly didn't know. In the next moment, the girl's sword slipped across Meili's neck.

"Lady Reinhild!?"

"No matter the reason, the crimes she committed were real. But the moment she died, her sins were paid. So bury her directly."

In the next instant, Reinhild disappeared into the sky dyed red by the morning sun.
