Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: First Battle

The sky gradually darkened, but for Zubat, it was no problem at all.

Zubat spent the entire afternoon adjusting its flying angle and force.

At first, Zubat was indeed a bit skeptical about whether Ace's words were true.

But after an afternoon of adjustments, Zubat clearly noticed that its flying speed had improved, and flying no longer felt so strenuous. By utilizing the sea breeze, it could fly for hundreds of meters without even flapping its wings once.

From then on, Zubat was completely convinced by Ace. Afterward, it tried its best to meet Ace's demands.

"Daily Task (Training) completed. Task evaluation: C. Reward: 10 gold coins, two task points."

"Only a C?"

Ace had trained Zubat all afternoon and could guarantee that both he and Zubat had put in a tremendous amount of effort, yet the task evaluation was only a C?!

"Daily Task (Feeding) completed. Task evaluation: A. Reward: 10 gold coins, ten task points."

All the energy cubes had also been completely absorbed by Zubat, and the daily feeding task was completed.

Seeing that the evaluation was only an A, Ace's mouth twitched.

He had fed it a hundred gold coins worth of High-Grade Energy Cubes, and it was only an A. So, what exactly did he have to feed it to achieve an S-rank evaluation?

The thought was terrifying!

"Extreme fatigue detected. Suggest host consume task points for a Perfect Body Restoration."

Zubat landed on Ace's shoulder. The afternoon of training had left it exhausted, but it didn't complain. Instead, it tried to appear energetic in front of Ace.

However, Ace could see its true condition, so he hesitated for a moment before choosing to spend five task points to give Zubat a Perfect Body Restoration.

"Task points deducted. Please recall Zubat to its Poké Ball."

As the system explained, Ace recalled Zubat into its Poké Ball.

Immediately, a glow, visible only to Ace, burst forth from the Poké Ball. It lasted only three seconds before dissipating.

"Perfect Body Restoration completed. One hidden physical ailment eliminated from Zubat's body, six instances of wing bone misalignment corrected, twenty-three muscle fiber tears repaired, residual energy dispersed and evenly distributed throughout Zubat's body."

Ace stared dumbfounded at the system's message. It was hard to imagine that so many issues could exist within a seemingly healthy Zubat.

"Ahem, are you a trainer?"

As Ace stood in a daze, an ill-timed voice broke his thoughts.

Ace turned around to see a chubby boy standing behind him, accompanied by a Turtwig.

"Can I help you?" Ace asked.

"I've been watching you train that Zubat for a while. It looks like it's your starter. I just got my starter too, want to have a battle?" the chubby boy said to Ace. Although he thought he was hiding it well, his eyes occasionally darted to the side.

Ace followed the chubby boy's gaze and immediately spotted a group of kids, stealthily watching their situation.

"You want to battle me? Then let's do it."

Ace was delighted. The other kid had just received his starter, which was perfect for him.

This was exactly what he needed, and he naturally wouldn't let the opportunity pass.

"Great! I also want to see how strong my Turtwig is!"

The chubby boy was overjoyed. He had only recently received his Turtwig, so among his group of friends, his strength was a bit lacking.

But the chubby boy believed it wasn't because he was weak, but because his friends had received their Pokémon earlier.

He happened to see Ace training his Pokémon, and not even teaching it moves, but how to fly.

He clearly looked like a novice, so the chubby boy wanted to battle Ace to prove to his friends that he was strong!

The two stood by the ship's railing, creating a distance of about ten meters. Ace opened his Poké Ball, and Zubat flew out, circling above Ace's head.

"Then we'll go first! Turtwig! Solar Beam!"

The chubby boy shouted with such confidence that it left Ace utterly bewildered.

Not only Ace, but Turtwig also looked back at its trainer with a helpless expression, letting out a cry.

Clearly, the chubby boy hadn't even figured out what moves his Turtwig knew.

"How do you feel, Zubat?" Ace asked the somewhat excited Zubat. "This is your first battle. Let's win it beautifully. Supersonic!"

Zubat grinned when it heard Ace's words.

It had only been in its Poké Ball for a moment, but upon emerging, it felt completely refreshed, as if it had been wearing a bulky coat before and had now shed it.

Zubat suddenly opened its mouth wide, emitting ultrasonic waves imperceptible to human ears.

Turtwig, who was still staring wide-eyed at its trainer, immediately swayed as if drunk, then bumped its head against the side of the ship, flipping itself over.

"Wait! Turtwig, what are you doing?! Counterattack, quick! Razor Leaf!"

The chubby boy finally issued a correct command, but the confused Turtwig flung out leaves, which, after circling once, all landed on itself.

"Leech Life!"

The opponent was no longer able to resist. Ace, seizing the momentum, swiftly waved his hand.

Zubat immediately swooped down towards Turtwig, opening its mouth wide and biting into the opponent's foreleg.

Turtwig let out a whimper. Zubat's sharp teeth pierced Turtwig's skin, and blood immediately gushed out, all of it flowing into Zubat's belly as it sucked.

"Come back, Zubat."

Ace was a little stunned. This wasn't quite the battle he had imagined.

Zubat heard Ace's words and immediately let go, flapping its wings and returning to Ace's side.

Two small, round holes were left on Turtwig's foreleg, with trickles of blood slowly seeping out.

It now lay on the ground, limbs splayed, no longer moving, its eyes having turned into swirls.

"Darn it, I lost for no reason."

The chubby boy was annoyed but also helplessly knelt down, pulling out a healing spray from his pocket and spraying it on the spot where Zubat had bitten.

As the spray landed on the wound, it quickly healed. Turtwig also recovered, looking at the chubby boy with a somewhat dejected expression.

"The healing effect is strong."

Looking at Turtwig, which had almost no visible scars, Ace was deeply impressed by the healing spray in the chubby boy's hand.

But at the same time, Ace also understood a principle from this first battle.

Games were games, and reality was reality.

Hitting an opponent with a skill didn't just simply deduct health points; it also caused actual damage to the opponent's Pokémon.

"No wonder there's a 'Perfect Body Restoration' option..."
